This video is a timelapse taken from the series of wildlife art videos that I made on 'How to draw an African Elephant' with the picture being produced using Caran d'ACHE Grafwood graphite pencils. Generally a picture of this type and size will take approximately three and a half to four months of work to complete but this will be spread out over a longer period of time. You can see how this hyper realistic elephant drawing builds up from basic sketch to fully detailed finished picture.

I have recently made a course on sketching a baby Rhino. It is not a highly detailed picture and uses a minimal amount of materials. It is a step-by-step process starting with the initial drawing before then adding dark shadows, shading and blending. Patterns are then used to create the illusion of texture before finishing with some finer details creating a striking picture.

Hi Jamie. Can you tell me what you were using to get the skin texture. It looks like a sharp tool and your putting dents in the paper. Can you explain please
The tool is a dart, it is to sharp as standard so has to blunted with a file. It is then used to indent the texture into the paper, before applying pencil over the top to create the effect of skim. Thanks for watching jamie
