Thank you for this fantastic tutorial. I learned a lot from you. But I am concerned about making this on my domestic machine - it is pretty thick in several spots. Your back came out just lovely.

Thanks! The gussets can get a bit thick, but there are ways to minimize bulk. You can hammer the thick spots or use pliers to flatten them. For the most part, I think it's very achievable on a domestic machine.

does your needle get gunked up with use of glue and 2-sided tape? what type of glue did you use?

The glue is Weldwood Contact Cement and it does not gum up my needle. The DST can cause my needle to get a little gummy if I sew through it several times. I keep alcohol wipes nearby to wipe down my needle when necessary.

Another thing that helps with a sticky needle is a bit of hand sanitizer.
