This video is so helpful. I live in upstate New York, where the average temperature in the winter is 10 - 30 degrees, but I still try to ride in the cold, no matter how bad it is.

My issue is the wind. It's brutal getting around on a small bike BMX with a low seat. It's rough air to inhale when you're huffing and puffing as well.
For my fellow helmet users, a helmet liner / face mask is a good layer. Doesn't fit the best with my big head but it does the job! Covers the neck a bit too.

Valid point! I takes time to get used to, I don't know where you live but here it gets warm then cold for days or weeks. So its hard to really get acclimated to the extreme temps. But what I'd say is condition yourself more, whether shorter periods of sessions to only experience the cold for shorter periods of time, in addition to wearing extra layers, over time you should be able to withstand the cold better, keep in mind you shouldnt be exposed to such degree of temperatures for extended periods of time anyway, also keep in mind riding in wind and at high speeds does introduce even colder temps. So try riding enclosed spaces, if you can, if not maybe hills isnt a great option. For example if youre riding in the winter for exercise. What I do is I run for that, its not as cold when your running bc your slower and the heat you are able to produce. I'll only session close to home in winter, for brief periods and I avoid riding hills and riding for cardio in winter. That isnt to say I wont do ride for miles in the winter but if the goal is exercise, I'll do exercise bike at gym and ride in parking lots or something small for shorter periods of time.

Wool is the only material that will insulate even when it's wet

My man!! You know. I didn't know until about two years ago, I mean I knew but I didnt use wool. I didn't want to invest in it, now I have five pairs of $30 socks lol lifetime warranty though so its well worth it.
