@gibbosj08 Thank you! Now, I have considered using bonding plaster, and I may try this out to see how it turns out. Thanks for the tip! 🙂 I think the reason I went down the plaster bandage route was because it held itself together. How did you find the plaster held, buddy?
No snow at my altitude but, I lived over 65 years in heavy snow country. It gets real fit in the summer but now low 40’s at night (Fahrenheit) and sometimes in the 80’s for a high. Been here another 8 years and really enjoy for the most part. Again, hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
@@paladin4570 The only two deserts I've been in are The Nevada Desert (Las Vegas) and in Qatar when I worked there... no doubt very different to the Arizona Desert! You have youself a wonderful Christmas please, and thank you for taking the time to drop a comment! Very much appreciated 🙂👍🏻
@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY Thanks James! So... I have painful plans... I have learned that from eye level heights must be considered. My journey is telling me to redo the first ever hills that I did in the style I can now do (the front part). I guess this is the journey, but I love it! 🙂
@TheScottishModelRailwayGuy yes I agree. Looking from eye level is really the best way to look at the layout. Also, making mock-up hills out of screwed up newspapers (like Dylan has on his 009-layout) really helps visualise how a scene might look. Also, looking for optimum viewing angles through the scenery is also a good thing to do. Using view blocking techniques also helps create a nice scene 🙂👍
I think the real secret is that once you get a wee bit of experience... take your time to think about it and always remember that you have to see the details. It's like a garden... big plants at the back, wee plants at the front I reckon.
@TheScottishModelRailwayGuy yes that's about right, but using the scrunched up newspapers can save you time and money if you create a landscape with it before committing yourself. Even mocking up the trees with cheap wooden skewers and shapes cut out of cereal packets can be a great, cheap visual aid. Have you seen Dylan's 009-layout build videos? You can see how it works on one of those 🙂👍
@@GeorgeGossland Hey, thank you for the really kind feedback. Yes, 500 now... a good milestone. I'll genuinely try to keep the content aligned to my passion for Model Railways and keep the channel growing hopefully. Thank you! 🙂👍🏻
@@paladin4570 Hey!... Merry Christmas from the very windy and wet West Coast of Scotland! So, yes... they're plaster cast strips. In the UK they're pretty cheap to buy, and polysterene (styrofoam?) is free at this time of year with any gifts given from family and friends. You have yourself a wonderful Christmas. Has it ever snowed in the Arizona Desert yet?
looking good bud 👍 ive been using bonding plaster it dries fairly quick and u can mold it nicely

Very nice progress. I'm no expert on weathering but that BP wagon looks very realistic to my eye. Have a Merry Christmas.
@NewModelRailway1 Thank you! I'm no expert on weathering either, but I do know some fols are very, very good at it. Cheers for your kind words! 🙂👍🏻
I really like the idea of painting the side of the rails for a rusty look! Nice thinking! I must use that idea on my layout!
@@SouthWestCrossingsUK It takes a reeeeeally steady hand and a fine tipped brush, but I think it does add to the look 🙂
That little hill is looking good and is blending in nicely with the rest of the scene... Cheers James 🙂👍

Very well done hill. Looks great. Are those strips mini plaster cast strips? They work really well. Merry Christmas from the Arizona Desert.
