Love how Illidan saves the forest, sacrificing himself for power, and Malfurion simply states "begone!"
It's because Malfurion is tired of his shit, as the whole demon well thing happened before.

Sylvanas -> Good character that forced to be Evil
Illidan -> Good character that was treated as Evil
All of them are not evil actually but complicated
Arthas was the only one that "fell to the darkness"
Sylvanas wasn't really "evil" per se. She just wanted revenge.
And desiring revenge doesn't necessarily make her "evil".
It did set her on the war path though.
Now Illidan... Illidan was great.
That one "Betrayer" cinematic is forever etched into my memories.

@@lucho6883, if it's equivalent of slamming the door, then Malfurion's right about Illidan. But I don't want him to be right, and Blizzard don't either, so they changed it in Reforged, and he now doesn't destroy the trees. One of a few things Reforged did right.
Are none of you going to pay attention to how most of these trees are corrupted/dead? If he destroyed these trees on his way out it wouldn't make much of a difference since their spirits have already left their vessels.
Lorewise when Illidan is in his metamorphosis he can fly, but it seems the game does not have that engine to present it.

Not to mention that tree stomping portion, which was important to show just how angry and betrayed Illidan felt for essentially saving Azeroth by sacrificing himself (again). Since saving the forest only hurt him, he hurt the forest back in a petty, angry way.

Ya alot of the nuances are missing and while some of the things might be little details it goes to show the amount of dedication which was put into the original game. In contrast reforged just looks like it was flung together at a moments notice. In addition a lot the attack animations have also been cut along with some of the dialogue you get when you click on/poke characters, some of which had some funny things to say. If you look you can find quite lengthy lists on features which were present in the original game that were cut from this so called remaster. Only thing your really paying for with this edition is the modernization of the graphics/models, but everything else is practically inferior and is not worth the $30 price tag. Age of empires 2 did a much better job with their remaster offering an actual discount if you had the original game and actually adding new features rather then taking them away :(. No clans or ladder anymore either. This edition also killed motivation for people to design new maps which is in part what had kept the wc3 community alive for so long. New policy claims everything you make and you won't even be acknowledged for the hard work you put in.
@@joshuakim5240 I dont think that Ilidan killing the tree is canon in lore, I think it just ingame machanic, to see ilidan walks in the forest, since a ground unit cannot walk in the forest due to collision, so they decided to remove any tree from ilidans path. However there could be other options to that but for some reason they choose this one.

I can rationalize him toppling those trees. It is like he spends a bunch of time to build a beautiful house of cards to impress his brother but Furion hates it so Illidan destroys the artwork as he storms out and slams the door in his anger and sadness.

Wow....it's amazing how changing the camera angles really effects how engaging the scene is. Reforged is like a sitcom of a bunch of characters talking to each other. The original actually looks cinematic.
Honestly.. how hard is it to set camera angles? It blows my mind, different angles makes a story more engaging. I know it’s out already, but they should at least fix the camera... among the other things they screwed up.

It is understandble, he didn't trust some with demon blood in his/her vains. Because every othert creature that have it become servent of the legion. so at that point, he don't know what the side effect will be. However later on it revealed that Ilidan fully controled himself, so there were no side effect. But even without side effect Ilidan did questionable things and invaded outland. Hes goal was to destory the legion, but didn't care what tools he using during burning crusade, even in legion he opened the portal, but luckly it worked, but it was risky.

He was accepted as a druid while Illidan was denied by Cenarius himself, he endured much, much less pain than Illidan ever had to, and on top of that he has the audacity to lecture Illidan at every turn, even when he sacrificed his own elven nature to keep the Ashenvale and Felwood forests safe.
Yes, Illidan got power in the process, but always at a huge price.

In the 2020 version, while they did try to keep the "original" look of a demon hunter or Illidan, I wish they would've used Illidan's design in the cinematic where Illidan kills Guldan. In that part, you can still see the green tattoos and a little bit of his face, but his overall figure is more shaded in black and green with dark smoke coming off of his body/aura. In that way, he looks more menacing and more refined that's fitting in the reforged design style.
Edit: Btw I'm referring to tbe first few seconds of the cinematic.

i think the reason people, including myself, like the old one more is because his demon form could've been used for anyone and anything in custom games, since it didn't really look like anyone/anything in particular other than a cool shadow figure, but now it's very clearly illidan, or at the very least, some sort of night elf/demon

Because in the lore, Arthas did ride into battle upon a horse which he raised from the dead. That undead horse's name is Invincible.

Most of the one on ones werent while on invincible in fact in terms of lore. But yes he did ride him into battle and conquests. Poor little invincible broke his knee and died. For a 2002 game, the fight its...well....intense, actually. In my eyes, I see them dueling like Anakin VS Obi-Wan*, however for technology reasons, they could not do something like that epic for a short and brutal fight.
But for a 2020 game, it's...well....lazy. I think that is the reason people complain so much about. And I could not agree more.
I was expecting at least, you know.....some "minor cinematic". You know, in WoW you have greater cinematics, usually the ones that are intros of the games or that ones showing the story of War of Thorns. And minor cinematics (in terms of animation), like the Wrathgate. You have less budget on it, but still enough to making it epic. I was expecting something like that to WC reforged. Some "minor cinematic" for most scenes like this one and greater ones for the most important events, like Uther VS Arthas, or The Purge.
Arthas is basically Blizzard, Lich King is Activision. Once Arthas/Blizzard merged with Lich King/Activision, Arthad destroyed. As said in ICC dungeon, the very few "good" that remained inside Arthas body (something like a rest of his persona, cant explain) is everything that prevented Lich King to destroy the World. Basically, i think that are very few developers and employees that hold off what they can of Activision, but it isnt something that great.
I still hope that Mike Morhaime, Chris Metzen, and others, just entered in an exile and will come back to save their company from the grasp of Activision.
*i know ROTS came in 2005, but i used as a reference, since many people agree that is one of the best fights in the story of cinema, and also, because of the intensity of the fight. Obi wan and ani were both equal in that fight, same for Illidan and Arthas in here.

Blizzard North is gone. OG developers went through hell for their passion, and then went through hell, as Blizzard grew, to hold it together in the face of slowly creeping in higher up's decisions about game design. In the end most, if not all of them, gave up and retired, or tried elsewhere(for example Torchlight). Cause with the new Blizzard real passion is as good as dead.

Illidan and Sylvannas are both elves. And there is a trait common to elves in Warcraft. When they want something, truly desire it to the point that they NEED it, they will do almost anything to get it, no matter what it costs or who it hurts along the way.
This is the tragedy not just of Illidan and Syl, but of all elves. How many wells? How many world trees? How many turned to evil groups to satisfy their own needs? Elves raise and fell gods on a whim as they need them. They cross worlds and open ancient seals to seek power. They forge pacts with greater powers and carve places for themselves anywhere their isn't one.
This is the tragedy of the elves.
If This Event Doesn't Happen I Can Imagine That Tichondrius Would've Present During The Battle At Mount Hyjal Commanding The Scourge Forces, Because After This, I Assume That Anetheron Would Take His Place As Commander Of The Scourge Forces

What's with Tyrande's and Malfurion's hair colour changing from blue to teal? I noticed it in WoW, but I assumed it was some sign of aging after losing their immortality. But even in Reforged? What was wrong with the original models?
Especilly since lorewise Illidan and Furion are supposed to be identical twins with only their various tranformations making them distinguishable. Yet, Furion has teal hair while Illidan has blue.

Okay here's my problem with the story... Arthas and Illidan are evenly matched so it's basically a tie... Then Illidan becomes more powerful from the skull of Gul'dan, uses the eye of Sargeras to crack the Frozen Throne, because of which Arthas gets seizures becomes weaker... Then he dominates him... If I could change it a bit, I would have Arthas merge with Ner'Zhul and THEN fight Illidan... So we could grasp how much stronger they actually are...

Warcraft universe is not consistent at all, I haven't played the previous games but at least from w3 the consistency and the narrative, and also the character development was always 5 yo kids handwriting.

Theoretically Arthas could have surpassed Illidan with the power the Lich King granted him before the final TFT mission but it's not really communicated through the gameplay. In the level it only allows you to level up normally where if it had done something like completely restore Arthas to level 10 and gave him the ability to do Chaos Damage (like Frostmourne did in the last Human RoC mission) it would have been more interesting.
Malfurion logic: "You sold your soul and sacrificed everything to save us and all that we hold dear? You disgust me!"
