Brain moore 1970- 86 as hosting world cup along with Saint and Greaves was fantastic the name's he had on there and that Michael Owen screaming at his goal like the old days.
As an 11 year old in 86, some matches were very late on a school night. Always remember my anxiety and trying to sleep on the night of that Poland game
Yes,I remember staying up long past midnight to watch England's group games with work to go to the next morning, and crashing out on the living room sofa before or during one or two of the other late kick off matches because of tiredness. Half finished drink by my side, cat on my lap probably. Luckily,England's matches in the knockout stages were not on so late (weekday evening v Paraguay and Sunday afternoon v Argentina).
Look England did not have a settled team going into the tournament..they fell on the right team in the last game..I believe it was here or pre tournament that Bobby Should have experimented with a 4-2-3-1 system...Waddle/Beardsley/Hoddle behind Lineker and Wilkins and Robson behind the two..
We were dire in the first 2 games, including Robson and Wilkins in the first game, and only picked up and qualified and progressed once Bobby Robson had his hand forced and got the backbone of the best team in England at the time together on the pitch ( Everton, Reid, Stevens, Steven and Lineker )
Yeah, Not knocking his ability, just that he now has one of the most valuable shirts, from one of the most talked about games & players in World football, plus Maradona scored those 2 goals in it, One of the Greatest, and the "Hand of God"
Ironic, he got the shirt and contributed to the Hand of God with an appalling defensive clearance, (amazed that everybody always overlooks that. Bang average player)
They're all online. We dominated possession and chances v. Algeria and Spain and could have had 2 wins on a different day. We were outclassed by Brazil and 0-3 was fair. However if we had scored 1 more or conceded 1 less in either of our other matches, we'd have played Argentina in the second round instead of Uruguay, who were thumped 6-1 by Denmark and had a bad goal difference.
when a country grows by 1,000 people per day in just one small city then you know why it's poor and will always be poor. i loved mexico 86 it was best tournament. why were they talking about that Doctor like he has passed, he made a recovery!?
Billy Bingham a top manager, I remember him at Southport a lovely man
Fantastic coverage. A million times better than it is today.

Great footage cestrian81, really enjoying watching your uploads. Bryan Robson was my childhood hero, shame injuries restricted him in 86 & 1990.

Mick Channon always speaks sense and pronounced line a ker like me
David Pleat must have gone crazy with all the ladies of the night in Mexico
As billy said the grass was first class...
The legendary John Helm.
Another great upload. Before my time but entertaining to watch
Thanks for upload
Great footage, the calm before the storm of England’s terrible opening two games
Grey suits all round please!
3:40 it's funny what passed for a quality football stadium back in the 1980s!
Things have developed a long, long way in the decades since.
💯💯💯excellent
They chose robbo and it didn't work out unfortunately. Who knows how far we would have gone in 86 with a fully fit Bryan Robson

At 5:31, is that Stan Ogden from Coronation Street with Billy Bingham?
The Mexican version.
John Helm!!!
"Linacre"
The boy Linacre
It’s harder to say Lin-acre than it is to say Lin-a-ka 😂😂
It's guaranteed never to be dull when Mick Channon's on.
Mick Channon says Robson has to play even when he was injured, it was crazy..
The best thing Hodge did at the World Cup was getting Maradona's shirt, What's it worth now?
YOU DIDNT SEE GOAL HE MADE AGAINST POLAND?
Yeah, Not knocking his ability, just that he now has one of the most valuable shirts, from one of the most talked about games & players in World football, plus Maradona scored those 2 goals in it, One of the Greatest, and the "Hand of God"
Steve hodge got Maradonas shirt and he donated it to the national football museum now in Manchester

@@ciaranriley5028 He didn’t, he still has it
