In this video I react to Space Dementia by Muse from the album called Origin of Symmetry.

Hi, I'm Dean Wolfe, a classic prog-rock guitar teacher on TH-cam. I grew up on 70s progressive music but abandoned the genre by the 90s because it was too 'hard-edged' for me. My all-originals prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i went into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar).
2020 was the year of my return to prog and the discovery of 30 years of great music which I'd paid no attention to- unitil now!
I also will react to 70s and 80s prog that i overlooked, like gentle giant, camel, etc.

I have my collection of Muse songs that I love to death. This one was skipped over back in the Muse discovery days, but now that I revisit it after periods of time of musical taste growth... I really enjoyed the different textures of this song, the weaves and wanes, the classical feel. One of those bands that was extremely talented and was lucky enough to receive the popularity they deserved. I wish bands like The Dear Hunter and Leprous could get to that point. That is my dream!
On a side note - I still highly recommend Dirt Poor Robins - Behold the Grave, if you want to try something pretty different from usual, but still pretty progressive, and non-metal.

MUSE has pulled off a bit to the poppy side a bit lately. I miss Matt adding his piano skills to their songs like he used to. If you haven't already, check out... Sing for Absolution, Plug in Baby, Uprising, Muscle Museum, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Panic Station, Time is Running Out, Reapers, ... So much to dig into with MUSE. We are huge fans of theirs since the beginning, MUSE was actually the first band we took our son to see in concert. ☺ They get compared a lot to Radiohead (especially) in the beginning of the band's formation, but the 2 bands are massively different...Gives both bands a disservice when that happens.
Edit: Went through your vids again and looks like you've done a couple already that I recommended so I'll edit the songs I suggested. 😉

Good news, the next album is going back to their roots, Matt said it himself. And I’m soooo excited about that, I love all of their music but their older stuff is just so nice to listen to. All of their stuff is, but something about this song and the first 4 albums hits different.

This is probably the first Muse song that I truly couldn't stop listening to just to unpack all the layers of, and the one whos lyrics stick in my head quite often. The frantic piano arpeggios and dark lyrics about losing your mind in the void just really hit it hard to me (especially since I'm into cosmic horror)

This was the 3rd song I believe, that I had heard from them. First two being plug in baby and uprising, but I was unaware it was muse. This one I knowingly listened to, and truly got me opened up to muse, so it holds a special place in my heart. I fell in love with it after the first listen.

If you don’t mind bizarre music, I would loveeee to see you react to the songs “earth”, “hell” or “computers” by a band called CLOWNCORE! Clowncore is a two piece electronic grindcore/jazz band from California. They are not a serious band, but they are extremely serious musicians and it’s literally the most conceptual music I’ve ever encountered! Their songs are very short, so perhaps you could cram a couple of them into one video. Thanks!!!

Can I suggest that you listen to the exogenesis symphony (in full with all 3 parts) off of the resistance. I don't know if I'd call it "progressive" as its not really rock, closer to classical but its absolutely beautiful and is also almost 13 minutes long in its entirety. I'd also suggest reading the lyrics at the same time as the song as it gives a lot more understanding to the piece. Great reaction to this song though, I love space dementia, one of my favourite songs off of origin of symmetry :)
