Space dementia is muse at peak prog. Goes hard. City of delusion is another type of prog that jams hard 🙌🏼🤘🏻

muse are one of the most versatile bands around. I'd love to hear your dad react to city of delusion, I think he'd love it.

Muse has classical influences, primarily the composers Sergei Rachmaninoff, Frédéric Chopin and Hector Berlioz. IMO it's mostly heard on their first 4 albums and the reason for their progressive rock sound that is so awesome. Keep going and experiencing this journey! We love seeing new Muse reactions. 👍

Thanks for the info! 😎 Think Ty really likes the Prog side, while I'm more mainstream rock side with MUSE. But lots to explore for us in the future for sure !!

I was also late to the Muse party. I liked the stuff I heard on radio but have only recently started listening to albums. I’d love to see them live

You guys should do the live video from "Hullabaloo" for the song called "Dead Star"!! That live show from 2001 (in Paris) is legendary! "Dead Star" was written in 2001, just after 9/11, when the band was grounded in Boston (due to all flights being cancelled). It was a brand-new song when they OPENED the show with it, for the Hullabaloo show! Check it out!

This is, like, uber-Goth styles! I didn't discover Muse until about 2007 or so, so I don't know what the reaction was back when this song/album was first released. But, people must have been, "Who ARE these guys??" I love how brazenly emo this song is -- plus the incredible piano work by Matt!

There is a mid-90's song that was a pretty big hit but has since fallen into obscurity and I think you might like it. It's "In The House of Stone and Light" By Martin Page. Drumming was done by Phil Collins himself. Has some Eastern influences in terms of the sound.

    • @reactionextraction

interesting, we'll check it out .... the great Phil Collins on drums, excellent 😎

If you have ever listened to classical music then you will understand muse all the piano progressions of straight from classical music.

The introduction and the piano are like Rachmaninoff Concerto no.2 op.18
    Can see it here: th-cam.com/video/rEGOihjqO9w/w-d-xo.html
Matt likes Rach a lot. But for sure Space Dementia turned out to be it its own unique thing. I'm just pointing out the inspiration

The original is better imo. The additional strings don't sit quite right for me
