I get such a kick out of the time you spend with your Mum. My daughter is far away in Lisbon, and here I am in Canada...we can't get together for girlie outings so I live vicariously through you both:). May I also say, I think you and Charlie have done an A-1 job in decoration/landscaping of your home-especially for such a young couple. You have exquisite taste. Love your vlogs.
Fascinating history, Josie! Thank you for sharing! I enjoy the diverse & homey nature of your vlogs. It’s a pleasure to share the delights of the Cotswolds & your other trips all the way from the State of Maine, across the pond! I dream of staying in Strawtop Cottage one of these days!
Cookies look amazing. Your home is full of history and so interesting. Beautiful hair styling. How fabulous to do a Jack the Ripper tour. Very interesting Thank you for sharing ❤
Hi Josie, former student of costume history here:) The photo in the middle in your downstairs bathroom is from 1900, when women wear long sleeve high-neck blouses, long skirts, big hats and corsets to conform to the then popular hourglass silhouette. Beautiful photo❤ from The Netherlands.
Josie, I’m so impressed with your cooking with each vlog. You are such a delight to watch. I never miss a video. I live in the USA in Alabama, you and Freddy came on one of your US trips. I live along the Gulf of Mexico, you didn’t come that far South. Love to visit the Cotswolds. Don’t want to leave out your special Charlie, he is such a gentleman. I use pumpkins in November also. 🌹
Precision is important with baking, you can free style measurements with cooking but not baking, especially not with baking power and soda, so you might have more consistent success with measuring spoons.
Definitely agree with that. Always measure accurately and sieve flour to lighten it as it becomes very flat whilst it’s sitting in the bag. That’s what we were always taught at college anyway! 🧁
In the States, pumpkins are not just for Halloween and October. Pumpkins are very much in the mix with Thanksgiving being a big holiday around the last week of November. Pumpkin pie is a popular dessert for Thanksgiving, pumpkins and all things to do with Fall are in until....the day after Thanksgiving. That's when the Christmas trees and the Christmas decore comes out. That is also Black Friday, the biggest Christmas shopping day of the season. I guess it is different in the UK. I understand that Fall decorating is not that much of thing over there.
The history of your house is wonderful. The chapel next door is interesting too and it would be lovely to see inside. I think hanging etc is incomprehensible now and glad it has a hearty atmosphere now.
Loved this vlog! Please share more of your incredible home here on TH-cam. It is full of so much character. If you have children, it would be a magical place to grow up.
Josie, Pumpkins are great for November home decorating. Those pumpkins will look fabulous through Thanksgiving. Use them in your Thanksgiving table decorating. Add some of your foraging colorful ,leaves, fruit, berries, and nuts. Please extend your beautiful harvest bounty through Thanksgiving. Thank you for sharing so much with all of us.
Love the vlog Josie! So interesting and spooky. The cookies look fantastic. I did a Jack the Ripper tour way back in the late 90’s when I was in London for work. So spooky but very interesting. There was a pub crawl as part of the tour.
I wholeheartedly recommend the UK version of Ghosts, I think it's on the BBC iPlayer. You and Charlie would get a kick out of it and it's very lighthearted fun.
I love all your vlogs 💕 The photo of your house with the cricket luncheon looks to be during the Edwardian time frame. Historic Costume was a big focus in college for me studying fashion merchandising. Also I love all the additional cooking and baking you’re doing!
I’ve lived in a rectory myself right on the grounds of an Episcopal church (which is the Anglican Church) in America. Very interesting content, Josie. Fun historical stuff.
It is 6pm on Halloween night here in LA and I am sat with my spooky glow in the dark nails that I put on earlier, crocheting my Harry Potter WOobles. All I need now is one of your famous Mac and cheeses 🧀🤭 I have to check your blog!! 👻 thank you for sharing this spooky vlog 🎃
As a 21 century Wiccan /pagan I adore your knowledge and respect of one of the oldest religion/ beliefs. I would love to finally find a home similar to yours and Charlie’s it’s what I have been hunting for the last few years Love your content thank you.
I so enjoyed this vlog, it was so interesting to hear about your village and your house which is just stunning!! I love reading and hearing about how people lived and their believes they had. Jack the Ripper tour was great. Having dinner at the palace must have been a dream and the flowers and food looked so amazing. Also loved your nail polish it looks really good on you. Thanks for bringing us along. Happy Halloween from Boston US 😇😜
The witch marking on your far right as you face the fireplace is very similar to American Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs they paint on barns (for protection). That's such a cool thing about your house. It makes me wonder if there's a mummified animal or somesuch up inside that fireplace.
I used to do that when my mother made cakes - lick the spoon. Lovely memories of warmth in the house. You are very patient. I admire bloggers as a lot of work involved so thank you for your contributions to our days. Happy Halloween.
Wow what an honour to be invited to The Orangery at Kensington Palace and Princess Beatrice there too. Aerin Lauder must be soaring ahead as she bought out Jo Malone and so many others like Bobbi Brown etc. Big name now in cosmetics. Loved the table and arrangements.
I really enjoyed this josie from beginning to end thankyou was very interesting about your house and the tour so nice to know they talk about those women and there names they will always be remembered xx
I love history, especially if it's spooky. :) I also took a Jack the Ripper tour years ago when I was in London. That was so interesting, Josie! and btw, love your nail polish!
Josie, you are delightful. Love your vlogs. Also they are relieving some anxiety- I live in the US, and an election that will impact generations to come is days away. Love and light to you and your family.🙏🏻
Wow, that was an excellent Halloween vlog; exceptional. Glad there was some beautiful things to see too though especially at The Orangery how wonderful
Thank you for the short history lesson of your wonderful home. I would like to hear more. Also I enjoyed the Jack the Ripper tour I would have enjoyed the full version of the tour. It was a wonderful video Thank you.
How do I convince my husband to pack up, grab our shihtzus, and move to Spellsbury because it sounds like my kind of town! ☽😂. Also I'm such a fan of historical stories, that's so fascinating your home was in the book! Happy Halloween 🎃
Hi Josie, some of the symbols on your fireplace are the flower of life. You might wanna look up the meaning of it, as it is really beautiful and often used for protection. Loved the video as always. Much love to you ❤
I had to stop the video and just say the history of your house is amazing and I love that you try to keep the style of your furniture and accessories in keeping with it. I also love that you have got some historical photos up as well. So much life has been in that house and I guess if there's no bad vibes going on then it's always been filled with love. Going off track somewhat I used to work for a solicitors in Finsbury Circus and the building used to be one of the sites for the old Bedlam Asylum, we used to keep a lot of the old filing down in the vaults and I would never ever go down there alone!! I don't know how they used to keep people down there in such tiny dingy rooms, if you could call them that, there were no windows and the hatch still remains with the rollers where I guess they would roll patients through on their stretchers. As scary as that place was down in the depths of the building, I much prefer the old historic buildings of London rather than the huge glass skyscrapers, despite the fact that I do work in one of those glass boxes now. I wish more was done to preserve history, if a building is still architecturally sound then why do we knock them down, simply modernise inside and now I've turned my comment into a rant. Apologies, I will carry on with the rest of your video now 😂
Such a wide variety of interesting content! Love your vlogs, thank you for sharing!
Josie what a fun, interesting and spooky vlog, loved it! 🎃
Love all the history of your house and village. 🥰

Always a pleasure to see you and your lovely mum together. It's heartwarming.
I absolutely love your home, Josie, and what you and Charlie have done with it. It's not just a house, it really is a home.

What a good mix of fun and interesting Autumn/Halloween and murder content 😱!

Britain doesn't have a Thanksgiving Day; there are harvest festivals, but I've forgotten when (I had thought August).
We don’t celebrate thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is an American holiday
Canadian Thanksgiving is on Oct. Nice that it isn't close to Christmas.

We love Lala, she deserves to be pampered. Enjoyed the history lesson of the house, maybe you can recreate a Victorian garden party next summer. ❤
Josie. Love hearing the history of your home. The tour was very interesting.
Josie, what ever happened to your hanging herbs in your upstairs guest room?

I agree living near DC so many historic bldgs are torn down..I say keep them intact for history's sake!
Ah I thought Martin the hairdresser seemed familiar, he's a former colleague of your Cotswold hairdresser Kate Drury😊
In the US we keep our pumpkin decorations out through Thanksgiving, which falls on the Thursday of the last full week in November.
Hi Josie, would you mind advising the brad of heatless curler you use, and the spritz. Thankyou 🙂
Happy Halloween josie l always love your videos , have a lovely weekend ❤🎉😊 xx
