    "The morgue?!!! She'll be furious!"
Bruce's comedy was at its best when he went really big with his performance. I wish him well in his health struggles.
Death Becomes Her is peak Bruce, just a screaming hysterical mess throughout the entire 2nd half.
Try Hudson Hawk for a very bizarre comedy from Bruce.

15:30 You can see a stereo behind Helen, the scene was a bit longer originally and she had a tape playing that had 'I will Follow him' on there and she sang over it "I hate her, I hate her, and where she goes I follow!". That's why it looks like she is moving to music, she originally was. She also plays the song in the car when she is following Ernest to the Mortuary but both scenes got cut (just like 30 other scenes). The movie was so long, it definately was over 2hrs before the studio meddled with it.
18:05 The potion was a million dollars.
25:18 The nuns are there because there originally was a dead priest laying on a slab when Ernest comes into the morgue. The morgue worker who is working on the Priest was hearing noises before and got weirded out thinking he is being pranked. Ernest asks if he can see Madeline for a few minutes so the worker let's him, slides the Priest back in and closes the lock, but it jams so when Ernest is talking to Madeline behind him the Priest is sliding out slowly and eventually Ernest walks back and hits the Priest's slab with his butt. Then when the worker is talking to some orderlies in the hall Ernest and Mad come walking by and Madeline goes: False Alarm!!!!.
25:54 A whole night and morning scene was cut out here, Ernest and Helen meet up at the Beverly Hills hotel where they bicker and Helen comes up with the burial plan. Ernest says Madeline and him have reconciled and she thinks he has some psychotic episode. Ernest tells her he is truly sorry for breaking her heart and then leaves. Helen is again sitting down and tears on the rag in her hand and then sees that her whole hand has started to bleed, then goes crazy and screams. Then it's morning, the maid comes in by the kitchen entrance, sees a mess on the floor and opens the fridge, sees Madeline curled up in there with icicles on her forehead. Madeline urges Rose to close the door. The maid runs to Ernest who fell asleep on the couch and Ernest and Madeline try to act like it's all some experimental beauty treatment. Ernest pulls Madeline from the fridge (you can see this in the theatrical trailer) and she goes around the house all stiff and crackly, leaving little puddles... The maid eventually get's fired by Ernest when he lies about selling the house and he gets her out. Then Ernest carries a 'sweaty' Mad up the stairs (also in trailer) and promises her he will make her look good again, his masterpiece. There was also a hilarious short scene with Helen shopping for the hardware and the clerk implying she has killed someone.
36:33 Originally the potionbottle did not break and Ernest fishes it out of the pool. He then goes of to his favorite bar where his friend Toni (Tracey Ullman) works (you can also see her in the trailer). The moralistic subplot was completely removed when test audiences felt that the original ending wasn't very in tune with the rest of the 'up funny vibe' of the film. So they removed the whole potion gets found and taken to Toni scenes and reshot 33:00 where they can't find a trace of Ernest (originally they realise where he has gone cause both of them stare at the liquor cart). The final cut's ending at the funeral is a much more funny ending (the original ending had Ernest old but alive with Toni having a picnic in a park in Switzerland where the evil ladies stare at them)... but it did make Robert Zemeckis cut out so many other scenes to change the film's pacing.
There is indeed a Musical coming out next year.
They should just release an extended cut and not do a remake. Dakota, Rose and some others had bigger roles... it would be amazing to finally see the full cut.
They released an extended vinyl version of the soundtrack last friday and they put the original ending's music on there. Definately worth a listen.

OMG so Helen was dancing to music! They told her to dance, then removed the music! This is wild just how many direction changes this movie had!
So there were 2 pieces of music removed. Which is sort of a shame. I think the pop movies of the 80s and the 90s always aimed to have some pop music in them, to be more catchy? I think DBH would be better if they kept that. Would feel more like a 90s movie.
And I imagine they probably wanted 3 pieces of pop music in it, not 2.
There was meant to be more scenes of Ernest painting Madeline. Why? What were those extra scenes meant to express? I believe they were meant to be fun and catchy. Some silly, cheerful music should have been playing as Ernest is giving Madeline tanlines. Something to express the idea of "Look at this happy couple, playing beautysalon at home like newlyweds. This is obviously their second honeymoon! As soon as Ernest finishes painting her, they will obviously go to the bedroom and make love! Just like Helen earlier proposed they would! She was right!"
And now I can't help but imagine what sorta silly pop song should be playing during that segment. That could have been so fun!

Thanks, Mozy! 🧙‍♀ My friends and I *love* this one... particularly the part when 'Lisle' gives 'Madeline' the potion and after it's consumed she says, "Now, a warning." To which 'Madeline' responds, "NOW, a warning?!" 😆 Isabella Rossellini played 'Lisle'. Be sure to catch her in David Lynch's iconic crime/drama/mystery BLUE VELVET (1986) which I'm so grateful I got to see on the big screen a few times during my college days. And she did a great voice in MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON (2021), which is another must-see when you're in the mood for something quirky-yet-poignant.

Don't know if you'll see this since it was over 8 months ago. BUT, you love art and design, you really really need to check out What Dreams May Come. It is a gorgeous film. But to give you fair warning without spoiling what it's about, you will need lots of tissues. I know you wanted to have fun on the channel but you really need to check it out.
Another highly recommended film that you can only watch once but everyone needs to watch is American History X. It's a hard film to watch but so good.
Both of those movies need a feel good film afterwards. I recommend The End (1978), a dark comedy. And then another comedy is The Villain (1979). I'd rather the whole thing be a surprise for you but I think it's right up your alley.

Hey, Mozy! The algorithm recently recommended your reaction to _SWF_ but after checking that out (brilliant btw!) I said, back to basics! If this guy is this funny and witty, I have to check out what the rest of his repertoire is!
And what a reaction choice for a debut! A film truly ahead of its time, and on so many levels when you think about it, especially with its technical achievements and the satirical critique of Hollywood, respectively. But doing it in such a clever and subtle way, not surprised you liked it so much.

There were more actors cut, it's a total waste. So much talent treated in such a disposable way in the final cut. It's not like there were 6 scenes removed or so... it's like 30.
Nancy Fish (Dr Giggles, The Mask) who played Rose the maid had 6 scenes but only 2 remained... she is at the weddingscene that got cut, gets told to work when Mad & Hel leave for the day (that's why Mad screams Roseeee!), in the evening Rose helps Madeline getting dressed and while Madeline talks about her tragic youth Rose mouths all the words along cause she has heard it over and over. And one more scene where Rose finds Madeline curled up in the freezer, freaks out and eventually gets fired by Ernest where we see that Rose actually really loves her job eventhough the two are so mean.
Matt Frewer (Honey I shrunk the kids) played an orderly in the hospital/morgue. Ernest and Madeline come walking by sneaking out the morgue.... False alarm!!! While the orderlies look at them, confused.
Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie's) played Madeline's agent who she talks to, but now he only has like one line when he is talking to Helen and Madeline comes walking to them in slow motion. Before that he showed a total disinterest helping Madeline getting new roles/other gigs and then have him gloating over Helen would have been a perfect contrast.
Ai Wan & Catherine Bell (JAG)... both played flower girls that come walking to the stage at the Spring party where Lisle does her speech tot he crowd. Catherine was also Isabella Rossellini's body double in the pool scene.
There are more actors with small roles that got cut but I haven't found out about their identities... Ernest talks to a guy he did plastic surgery on at the bar at the bookparty, there is a dead priest in the morgue and a morgue worker, there were 2 more maids in the Madeline in the freezer scene who start cleaning up the kitchen, a bellhop who helps Helen with a Death Valley map at the hotel, a Valet Helen almost hits with her car, a clerk that scans all of Helen's body disposal merch at the hardwarestore... the dead drunk at the bar where Toni (Tracey Ullman) works, and a cop at the end of the film who is trying to identify 'Ernest's' dead body.

  • @XanArt21
    @XanArt21 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Rewatching your reaction. Love it so much haha.
    Deleted scene Trivia 2:
Madeline & Dakota had a sex scene... after theyre done and start complaining about their problems Madeline freaks out when she sees an inprint on her cheek and that's why she makes an emergency appointment at Chagall's (that's why it's 3 o clock suddenly)
The Dark Windows movie was also playing on tv in the bar when Ernest visits Toni (Tracey Ullman) and we see he already enjoys seeing Madeline die.
Before they go to the bookparty Madeline and the maid bicker and we get a whole pathetic story about Madeline's sad youth and the maid mouths every word behind her back. Ernest is waiting on one of the seats in the foyer and he has all these toiletpaper pieces on his face (cause of his tremor).
When Madeline gets home from Lisle's her phone is ringing and it's Dakota. First they bicker but slowly they get flirty and that's where she was going before Ernest kills her.
Between Helen climbing the fence and walking towards the front door we would have seen Ernest having trouble with closing the fridge door. (He put Mad in there). That's why the edit is weird. The whole Madeline in the fridge scene that came later was removed.
After Helen & Madeline make up Helen gets upset about her hole and rips out the handle. Mad tells her to calm and hands her a glass of water... Helen drinks it but it goes right through her... upsetting her even more 😂.

Figured I should go back & start from beginning. Before your list gets too long😅 Unfortunately for me, as a '70's kid, I'm deathly allergic to cgi & new Hollywood. I've still never been able to make it half way through Lord Of the Rings, friend. Been trying so long i got it in vhs.😅 If you've never seen 1980's "Excalibur" it's a masterpiece of cinema. I was never into King Arthur movies but its top 10 GOAT to me. Great script, great score, great acting & best of all zero cgi!😅 That movie is pure ART! Takes you there. Is a beautiful film.
...I was introduced to Bruce Willis in his debut tv drama romcom "Moonlighting" in which he played a detective. Wasn't my thang. Good show though. Made him a star. First time I saw him on the big screen, & think may have been his 1st starring role, was a great little comedy called "Bind Date" with Kim Basinger (Burton/Batman). Is one of my faves of his. Also, if haven't seen & into Tarantino, he did an excellent comedy along with 3 other directors (have to look up) called "Four Rooms", each room different filmmaker tied to together in an actual old Hollywood hotel. Tarantino's room stars Willis. And if wanna go back, was a great art film in 80's with similar premise called "New York Stories", but don't know how many people remember & would watch a reaction to? But is 3 stories by Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, & Woody Allen. Well worth a watch even if on your own time.
Oh yeah! I grew up with Freak😅 Hollywood filmmaker Harmony Korine ("Kids", "Spring Breakers", "Beach Bum"). When James Franco asked David Letterman why Harmony got banned from his show Letterman said he caught Harmony in green-room going through Meryl Streep's purse!😅 Looking for drug money I'm sure.
    See ya.
