I grew up on this and the sequel (which is even better), and reruns of the tv show, so the Addams Family do feel a bit like family to me 😅 While I adore John Astin's wisecracking Gomez from the show, Raul Julia is amazing with his high energy Gomez and plays off Anjelica Huston's sultry Morticia extremely well. The family dynamic is changed a bit from the show, where Fester is Morticia's uncle, granny is Gomez' grandmother not Morticia's, and Wednesday is the younger sibling.
Charles Addams (two "D's") was a longtime cartoonist for the New Yorker Magazine. He started drawing his creepy cartoons in 1933, and continued until his death in 1988, about 150 or so. Each was a single panel drawing. The individual characters of the "family" were there but not named until the 1960's, partially for the tv sit-com of the same name. This movie (and sequels) built on that show and expanded the jokes.
You've got to watch the sequel Addams Family Values. Wednesday is SO iconic, and absolutely amazing!! And I LOVE your laugh! Angelica Huston was INCREDIBLE as Morticia, but she said after the 2nd movie, "I hope I NEVER have to wear that dress again; it was SO tight!"
Haha! Thank you! I'm def doing the sequel, for sure ;-) And yes, i agree, that dress is so tight, she probably would've needed a fair chunk of her time to get out of it, AND IN IT! lol
❤It!! 65yr old Super Nerd from USA here again 😊 ADDAMS FAMILY was my and BFF's Fav TV 📺 SHOW as kids ( 2nd was soap opera Dark Shadows) Went to see this movie with her when it 1st came out. I was visiting parents and she still lived in town. My parents babysat my kids and we went. 😊 Got stared at though because for Shits and Giggles we dressed up as Morticia and Wednesday (4ft11 me as Wednesday 😂) As always Love the reaction ❤Got Big laugh at part when you saw Gomez and Fester as Sharks 🦈 and said you'd do that 😅 Gave me flashback memory. Summer 1975 saw movie Jaws a couple of weeks before going on family vacation to Myrtle Beach. Took me 2 days to get in water past my knees and when I did go up to chest my brother snuck behind me, went under water and bit my leg. 😅He then popped up laughing and I punched him in the eye and kneed him in the balls. Luckily water slowed down my knee and made the hit not so hard because I have 2 wonderful nieces LOL 😂 As always Love the reactions and Big Hugs 😊PS only thing Bummed us out about the movie 🎬 Gomez doesn't 💋 Morticia's entire arm when she speaks French like in the TV show LOL 😂 Much Love MOzy😊❤
@mozyflicks Want a Big LOL Dark Shadows thing ? 1978 was going to Penn State, was walking with friends going to Rocky Horror Picture Show( my 1st time, had NO Idea what I was in for. My friends had dressed me up as Magenta & gave me a prop bag...3 weeks later I was on cast in front of screen doing Columbia, being 4ft11 I was easy for "Eddie " to swing around LOL)We were walking down sidewalk on Beaver Avenue ( kid you not, that's the name...2 One-way streets separate campus and town the other one Main Street is closest to campus) I was talking to friends not looking where I was going, knocked a man into a lamppost, he slid 1/2 way down. I pulled him up and said "Sorry!!" He turned around patted me on shoulder and said it was OK. I kind of stuttered & asked him if he was Jonathan Frid, Barnabas on Dark Shadows. He said Yes, I said Love the show he said Thanks and walked away. My friends had a Huge laugh at me because I was standing there like a statue with mouth wide open and they had to shake me to get my attention. LOL 😆 Will say he was very gracious and nice about it. Found out later he was giving a Talk in one of the auditoriums that night 🌙 I was SO embarrassed 😳 LOL 😆 Big Hugs MOzy! & Thanks for the reply !
Seeing the jack-o-lanterns on the couch next to you, and hearing you talk about not-too-scary movies, you might want to watch and react to Disney's 1985 Return to Oz, which includes a headless (at times) with and Jack Pumpkinhead (perfectly named and was the inspiration of a similar character in Nightmare Before Christmas). The MGM 1939 movie was based on the first book in the Oz series, but they made it into a dream by Dorothy. The Disney movie went back to the original novel's concept of a real place. (MGM purchased the rights to the first book, Wonderful Wizard of Oz, so Disney was only able to get the rights for the rest of the series.) Return to Oz was very faithful to the original L. Frank Baum's characters, as depicted in the books' original illustrations. Because Disney's movie was not lightened by song and dance movies, many audiences were shocked and felt it was too dark. I think it is perfect as I love the books and might be just perfect for your reaction video.
In a way, though, I know why everyone is excited about first time watchers = they get to learn what I did as a kid when I saw this movie at age 8. That Anjelica Huston is one of the greatest glamour icons in history. Madonna should have added her to the lyrics of "Vogue" but... I guess that would mean she'd also have to add = Demi Moore, Angela Bassett, Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon, CCH Pounder, Glenn Close (etc etc) and the list would get too long...
Just give me Angelica Huston anyday and i’ll be happy. ❤
Highly recommend the sequel Addams Family Values.
One of those rare instances where the sequel might possibly be even better than the first one.
Def on the list ;-)

Ah no way. Didn't know that.
Ive seen maybe 2-3 episodes of the original tv show.
I really enjoyed it.
Well i def want to watch the sequel to this.
Gomez and Morticia are probably the most horniest couple ever in a family friendly movie
Yeh i was gonna say.
I don't think I've ever seen a couple like these two, going at it every time lol
Love your Halloween decorations!! Halloween is Christmas and life for me too.
Riiiight!....
This and Addams Family Values never get old for me (I rewatch the sequel often). ♥
Def doing the sequel as well ;-)

I STILL love the idea of secret passageways in a house. I wish I had a house with secret rooms and hallways.
Yes! There are some secret passages in the 1985 movie, Clue, as well.
Agreed
Def gonna react to it ;-)
That TV host is Sally Jessy Raphael, she's an icon of the late 80s to mid 90s talk shows.
YES! That's the one!
I def remember her.

@@hopeklemann1 😂😂😂😂 That’s mum of the year, for sure. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hi from a new subscriber from NZ. What a cool theme.
Thank you
I'm revisiting that movie, myself, soon. Later this month.
Hope you enjoy
