Thanks Ed, I should have mentioned that I owned Greatest Hits Vol. 2 which contains 5 of the 9 songs from The Album. When I got The Album I was a bit disappinted with 3 of the 4 remaining. Maybe that's why "as an album" it came in bottom place

Less than a month, James! One thing I will say about Voyage, it's a grower. My thoughts on the album now are not what I thought initially, although I did still like it.

Great ranking of the albums. I admit my listening to them has been more casual and I must give them a more critical listen but don't have the first 2 albums. Like you we grew up with Abba's Greatest Hits album. Think it went when mum had a clear out of her vinyl but was delighted to find recently she had kept a virtually un-played copy of the double Singles album. She doesn't have that anymore either - raided it ;-)
Richard, what a great video that was. I’ve been playing Arrival and The Visitors all week. Such joy and so many happy memories of devouring each album on release. I would love to see your take on Beyond Gold. The Visitors deluxe, I think is a perfect album but Arrival was my soundtrack to 1976. Nothing is going to top it. Thanks Jim, I'll definitely do Beoyond Gold but may leave it for a week or two. I have a 20 track album compiled that fits perfevtly onto a CD and I think it's actually slightly better than More Gold

This is a hard ranking to do. All of ABBA albums are different in their own way. If I had to choose a favourite album it would be Arrival. Everyone has their own way of ranking the albums. So don't feel bad at putting The Album at #9.
Interesting. My list would be pretty different. Eagle alone puts everything else on Ring Ring and maybe even Waterloo to shame, but I agree The Album is the weakest of the Arrival-and-beyond albums. And Voulez Vous below the self titled album ABBA? Absolutely not. Lovers Live a Little Bit Longer is actually one of my favourite tracks off that album. Totally fits with Frida giving off sexy hot mama vibes. I don’t know if it was her stage persona or the songs the men had her sing, but I got the feeling she’s a bit of a firecracker.
Frida was always my favourite ever since I saw her, when I was 10 years old, in the video for Fernando. Agnetha is also very beautiful but I felt Freda had more charisma. I agree about Eagle but one player (in this case 4 players) doesnt make the best football team. I's still a bloody good album though. I forgot to mention that I love the funkieness of Man in the Middle from Abba.
I hadn't gave it a thought before, now i realize, i haven't heard 5 of those albums! Of the ones i have heard ABBA is the worst. They are trying all kinds of music styles and failing quite badly, worst offender being the reggae one. Pasi
