Steph, there's a somewhat older series that you might would like that's dark-ish. It's called The Antiheroes series by Kristen Ashley. The first is my favorite and it's called Knight. It has dark elements but not too much. The characters are interesting and the author's exceptionally gifted. These are probably 10 years old now but worth reading
