That's crazy in NC for fishing piers we have a blanket license that covers everyone on the pier fishing don't need a license
I think that is the same in most places. But they are specific piers. And they tend to be packed. If you want to go out on any pier or jetty or on the beach you need that tag
I was about say this but yeah I'm from NC/VA but when I visited Alabama I had to get a license to fish on the pier.
Licence doesn’t cost that much , I’ll stop and get a ten day any state im fishin. Ya don’t often get checked ,

Not in alabama. I had to pay to fish on the pier and i had to have a current alabama fishing license.
I haven't hunted or fished here in Michigan for many, many years but each year I buy the licenses anyway just to support the state's fish and game management programs.

Free market capitalism allowed me to purchase the license free will whether I wanted to put it to use or not. It was my choice to purchase it for the reason I stated above.......Nice try tho.

I hear people say this all the time, but they are just law enforcement officers. Do not let them bully you, you can respond in kind and match there attitude. If you are doing it everything by the rules they cannot confiscate gear or harass or ticket you. Record the whole interaction.
In forty years of fishing and hunting, I have interacted with Game Wardens approximately five times. Never had any problems or attitudes from any….even when I lived in California. Had a Ranger in California be a sick…he was a Fed….

I was elk hunting with bow . Sights on an elk . Then a game warden come stomping up behind me scaring the elk away . You know I was so angry I wanted to . I kept control . Never got the elk that was 25 yards away . Took me 6 hours to get close to shoot . I do not like law enforcement after that . Not even a sorry just a smart mouth game warden .

Ive been checked by game and fish wardens many times. I gotta admit theyve all been pleasant and cordial when doing their business. Then again i was completely legal also. Unlike regular cops game wardens tend to be much more professional and respectful.

I fished there for sheepshead once around 45 years ago. Two of us fished by the pilings 1/2 to 2/3 of the way out the pier once very cold winter day and we caught sheepsheads until we were tired of fishing... and it takes a long while for me to get tired of fishing!
That was decades before Katrina severely damaged the pier. I haven't been there since the enclosed part was built at the end. Is that for shelter or what is inside there?

I remember hearing once that one of the reasons America's founding fathers rebelled was because the king had laid claim to all the fish in the waters, and all the game in the woods, and you needed to pay the king for the privilege of living off the land. Our founding fathers thought that was wrong, and that people should be allowed to feed themselves.

Heh -- in my sixty years of freshwater fishing all over the Northeast, I've never put a line in the water without having a valid license on me and I've never had even one official ask to see it. I started fishing at 10 in MD (where I grew up), and I've fished in MD, VA, PA, MA, ME, and NH. I guess I'm just lucky :)
When trout fishing upstate NY, back in the 80's more than once they would sneak up. Had my Multy species year license(Fishing and hunting) Taped on rods legal lengh limits. Didn't need to break a law. Checked and pollitely greeted
Carolina boy here , I’ve been stopped and checked numerous times in both Carolinas in both fresh and salt water , from a boat, bank and surf fishing I’ve been boarded several times and had my live wells inspected , never had an issue , the bunny sheriff is a sportsman , just like us , keep it legal , be courteous and you will never have a problem .
I haven't ever had my fishing license checked. I have seen them drive by behind me. My uncle said that the game wardens can see it in my eyes that I have a license!!!😊😊😊

Cannot believe you need a license to fish in the ocean, you yanks need to charge for everything in life, in the UK if someone asked to see a license for fishing from a pier or boat in the sea they would be told where to go look because the sea belongs to everyone as long as it's not commercial, rivers are a different thing altogether and is all licensed.

Me N my missus was bank fishing when she had to pee. So, she went off into the bushes
and the moment she squat a state fish & game man showed up out of nowhere. The first
thing he saw was I was working 2 poles. My missus was embarrassed to let him know she was peeing so I tried to talk my way out of it but eventually she had to stand up & admit to what she had been doing and accept responsibility for pole #2. Satisfied, the F&G guy walk away.

Just got my lifetime Indiana fishing license. Made a few extra copies for the truck and a couple spares. Now when I go once in a blue moon I don't have to worry about not having a license. Lol

In florida you dont have to have a paper license. You just load the app on your phone and thats it, all you need. I dont like taking my wallet on the water anyway. I just was used to leaving my wallet in my truck when i fish because I rarely fish in alabama.

Most game wardens are pretty decent guys. Treat them with respect and don't give them any attitude and you're usually good to go. Only time ever had any issue with one was quite a few years back with a U.S fish and game warden while duck hunting some federal land. The one warden was a middle aged guy we saw every time we hunted this area and he was always decent to us but this time he had what we figured was a young new guy with him that wanted to impress his boss. The new guy had us emptying everything and checking everything while not being too polite about it. We just did what he told us and were on our way.

In Indiana they give you Three licenses I keep 1 in my truck 1 in my tackle box and one in my wallet so I never forget it and one time I forgot my tackle box behind and the guy that found it called me up and said he found my fishing license and gave it back God bless him I gave him 20 bucks and could not stop thinking him like $1000 worth of tackle
