Dick York also was in the RiffTrax short 'Shy Guy' The old neighbor was the janitor in the RiffTax short 'Act Your Age' --- Janitor: "You again?" Mike: "The kid I LOATHE inexplicably?!"
Yes, I noticed Mr. Martin was the same actor as the grumpy janitor (Mr. Olsen) in "Act Your Age"! Or is it the *same* guy, with multiple personality issues??
Another dose of The Mads riffing for us in apex-mode making their take on How Friendly Are You (1952) a must-watch sure to please even the most discriminating MST3K enthusiasts. It's worth noting that the ideas about friendship presented here are not without merit despite the inadvertently hilarious production. How Friendly Are You focuses on developing prosocial behaviors and while it's not faultless in that regard, it acts as a kind of cultural time-capsule representing the time in which it was produced and is ultimately edifying as well as entertaining.
I’m so happy to have y’all riffing again. It’s like welcoming home old friends or relatives that have been gone a long time, gives me the warm fuzzies and the giggles. Thanks, fellas.
I just discovered your channel, I had no idea you guys were back! You two (along with Mike & Joel) were my good friends during much of my Marine Corps days in the early to mid 90s, you guys kept my morale up while far from home! You kept me laughing, often uproariously. Have always wondered what happened to you, after you left the series.
Thank you both for these delights! Only the Magnificent Mads could so-sardonically adorn such a short-film! (thanks for the alliteration, Stan-the-Man! R.I.P.!)
@@sweetpeachbellini8245 I was a boy watching the show..when the original "Derwood " was suddenly replaced by a different man..it caused me such trauma that even Sigmund Fred could not help me cope with such confusion!! " O.M.G!"
@@johnwriter8234 I was 9 years old and even though Samantha called him Darren, I wondered what happened to the original guy. We talked about it at school and one of my friends said: "Maybe she gave him a face lift. Y'know, a magical one!" This was me...🙄
I'm sorry ... I've laughed more while watching this a couple of times than all of whatever-it-was that was on Netflix for a couple of years. It's pretty easy to see how Frank and Trace shaped and influenced MST3K's aesthetic as it developed ... . Thanks for giving us more of these moments to have fun with--and not just make fun of--these shorts and movies. Sometimes, life is little more than these endearing escapes.
"When rock and roll is invented it's over for him"? Yeah, no rock musicians played the piano (Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino....Elton John, Billy Joel...)
F-bombs and the original Darrin. SOLD

"She's going home to make fudge!" in that official narrator voice makes me burst into giggles.
Repair based friendship is the best kind of friendship.
It sure would be a lot friendlier world if more people were like that.
Hilarious. Funny to hear the Good Doctor dropping F bombs.
Thank you, Mike!
@@TheMadsAreBack I've also been enjoying your monthly live streams. Great guests. Highly recommended to everyone on this channel!
As much as I like the new MST3K, these riffs are not only much better but also closer to the MST3K of yore.
We appreciate it, Vincent! Thank you!
This is truer than delicious fudge.

This is an answer to a question nobody was asking
Dick York was young once? I find that difficult to believe.

Ah, the one thing I miss in the Netflix episodes of MST3K, the shorts!
I think it also needs more Minnesota jokes, even if the HQ is elsewhere now. (There will be shorts in the next new season, too. Woo hoo!!)
I hear there’ll be some shorts in the new season! I’m looking forward to that- and more shorts from Trace and Frank, of course!
Geez, why couldn't we just have given our Kickstarter money to these guys?
Because it's so important to have your name included in 30 minutes of credits...
Dick York before his back injury!
He’s putting his leg up on stuff!
I'm glad I'm not the only one to get Giant Gila Monster flashbacks.
If it was anyone else repairing that screen, I wouldn't listen to the advice. But it's DICK YORK! So, I listen.
The mads are on fire, as always.
Love how off the cuff these are! So glad my Mads are back ♥️
Thank you!! Please spread the word!!!
Waiting very patiently for the first Bewitch joke.
Featuring Dick York... He changed management shortly after this... 😏
Thank you both for these delights! Only the Magnificent Mads could so-sardonically adorn such a short-film!
(thanks for the alliteration, Stan-the-Man! R.I.P.!)
I learned how to repair my screen door! Great short, hilarious.
The St Valentine Day Massacre garage was less bloody
I may not have learned anything about friendship...but I did build a lovely screen 🤷♂️
IS that Dick York? It sure looks like it.
Yes, that is 100% a very young Dick York.
Darrin Stephens: The Early Years
He was in quite a few shorts....."Shy Guy"...one about sleep....
You got me to bark laugh with your Reefer Madness reference at 9:57
Thanks, Adam! Play... faster!!
I had no idea this channel existed, binge watch time!
the Mads are back - feeling most excellent
Thank you, Paul!
Carl later moved to Milwaukee where his hobby was dissolving roadkill in acid.
Darrin could just get Samantha to conjure up some more friends, hmm?
Everyone is friendly when the walls are covered in blood
“You’re really thinking about this business of being friendly…” “Well, TV and online p05n haven’t been invented yet so there’s nothing to do”
Buffalo Bill's victims used to be stored in that garage before he moved the operation to fancier digs.
Remember these lessons, Dick York, for when you marry a witch later on
Friends, just friends, and don’t read anything into the relationship.
Appreciate the Death Of Stalin reference!
Perfectly distributed F-bombs!!
The reason for all the bloody stains on the walls is that they're from Ray's old friends when they were no longer friends.
“Welp, still old...”
Add in host segments and you guys got yourselves a winner.
Nah...
It's Darren from Bewitched!
Featuring; a young Dick York of Dream of Jeannie Fame (later to be replace by Larry Hagman)
The Blair Witch House - The Early Days.....
Maybe the Blair Bewitch House!
"Oh, it's his wallet."
Dick Sergeant, Dick York = Sergeant York
You win !!!
Is it a coincidence? I think not! (Let the conspiracy theorists sit & swivel on that lol)

It'd Dick Sergeant. Or is it Dick York?
It's Darren Stevens!!
Darrin Stephens before he discovered the wonderful world of advertising!
Screen-fixing!
It's like Rock-Climbing, only indoors!
So you're not a good friend unless you let people trash your shit. The 50s.
Darren giving advice
Dr. F bomb lol
I laughed so hard!
Thank you, Kristopher!

Learned the hard way that I can’t watch this with my 6 year old. Salty.
Mr. Martin sounds like Eugene Levy
Is Mr. martin an RSO.
Kid on the thumbnail looks like Rick Astley... Anybody?

"Why is it some people aren't friends?" Um...aspberger's syndrome?
1:08 Why is that one woman just sitting in the trunk? Was that a thing people did back then?

I thought the 1950s were oppressive and demanded you think and feel certain ways about certain things. Then the 2020s came.
People are such snobs. The Netflix reboot was fun.
Starcrash, anyone?
I love these a lot, but I love the new stuff, too. (I think the next reboot will finally have some shorts, too. I can't wait!)
The Doug McClure doubleshots are gold on the Netflix series

These shorts are the prime reason people today rather have their kids die of curable diseases than have a social disorder.
