  • Here is a video of my New Cast Nathan AirChime P2A Single Tone Locomotive Airhorn. I acquired this horn from an eBay seller that got this particular horn from a railroad museum in Southern Minnesota. I unfortunately don’t know much information beyond that. The mounting base of the horn broke apart at some point in its life, though it was repaired, drilled incorrectly, and given a steel plate with a pipe fitting for the air supply. My first two tests are at a regulated pressure of 90psi and my last test is at 125psi. Hope y’all enjoy!

Yep! Caltrain's main horn of choice on their locomotive and cabcar fleet are Nathan AirChime P2s with bells 2 and 3. Some of Caltrain's horns have fouled #3 bells where the #2 bell is the only bell sounding, so it's basically the same sound as a fouled Caltrain P2 without the #3 bell. JPBX 921 is a prime example. If you want a more realistic sound, I can use a longer air line from the valve to the horn so the horn tails off more.

@@sepa2401 921 has a horrible fowled P2 lol, they fixed 920 but 921 needs to be fixed aswell but the rest of caltrains p2 sounds nice

@@sixfifty_sebb My guess is that the poor location of the horns causes them to get clogged with diesel soot on the F40s, causing them to foul.

@@sepa2401 yea I think it’s at the bottom of the locomotive since caltrains horns are at the bottom of their cab cars and locomotives

@@sixfifty_sebb I could be wrong as I'm on the complete other side of the country haha. Probably depends on the locomotive, but the P2 is small enough to mount underneath due to its slim size.
