    God sees and will judge all oppressors. Don’t fight and get locked up. Let God destroy all evil. You know who you are...

    Racism has to be talked about constantly, guarded against endlessly and addressed immediately wherever it ocurrs, wherever it is suspected to ocurr day after day, year after year, decade after decade, era after era, otherwise it will never go away. God bless you all.

      I believe what you said is even more important now that hate crimes have been a growing problem in the last few years. Also TH-cam comments are far too often made by misinformed and hateful people.

    Gus did not go onto other streets like creighton st and so on …in the early 60s to see what he called color..black folks were elsewhere too …
    i used to hang out at the dumps lookin for copper , brass , made friends from the community..i was from the deep north end…

    I typed in black Canadians out of curiosity a few minutes ago. Now I feel depressed. I had no idea this had happened. White Canada did a good job of making black Canadians invisible.

    Having grown up in North End Halifax I remember Africville well. I was young naieve and uneducated so di not think much of it other than it was there. How attitudes have changed. There actually was a keen religious and family sense of community despite the conditions. Being isolated can often lead to this just as in the outports of Nefoundland. What an injustice was done to that community when their lands were expropriated to build the on ramps to the new bridge.

    Had no idea Canadian blacks in the 19th and earlier 20th centuries dealt with this...for some reason when we think of racism in North America , we always think exclusively in terms of the states, but I can see now how narrow minded that is of me.

    Racism didn't help things, but the theft of Africville residents' properties was nothing but an 'eminent domain' land-grab. This keeps happening in Canada and the beneficiaries are always either developers, or construction firms (both of whom grease the palms of local and provincial politicians). One incident involved a family in B.C., who lost their home to a mining company, seeking zeolite deposits (for kitty litter) under their property.

    The razing of Africville is one incident that screams for the enshrinement of property rights in the Charter. Like Africvillers, other people have had their property STOLEN BY THE STATE, for the benefit of developers and porkbarrel public works projects. We also need property protection with more teeth than the U.S. 4th Amendment. In America, people have had their property declared 'blighted' and stolen from under them, particularilly since the Kelo v. New London ('eminent domain') decision.

    couldnt have said it better myself! However, there is more involved in the dislocation of peoples than simply a scattered community and broken legacy. The capital gained from the Africville relocation and the indigenous relocation has contributed to the colonial hegemony that is intrinsic to North American (white)prosperity. this must be reconciled before we can simply move on.

    It’s crazy my family was greatly affected my moms both parents were Nova Scotian and her grandmother had to “relocate” to the greater Toronto area but the training they promised and assistance was a cover up to destroy our community most of the blacks that relocate lived in imo worse conditions especially with family got on drugs this is not to far back can still talk to my grandma about it

      Correct! It was ethnic cleansing of a very, very valuable area of real estate worth 100's of millions of dollars.

      Gus Wedderburn, who WAS NOT from Africville, or even had a long history in Nova Scotia, and he single-handed destroyed the Africville mixed race, tri-racial isolates of Africville, a crime against humanity. I think someone should investigate him to see if he got any kick-backs for destroying Africville...he was there in Nova Scotia, bringing his 'Island British 'higher then thou' morality to Nova Scotia and it was a brutal crime against humanity to the Africville residents. That was THEIR land, and he destroyed it. He never sought modern infrastructure there, but simply wanted them off the land, claiming it was because they were living in poverty! But meanwhile, the land itself was worth 100's of millions of dollars! This happened in many places in Canada to tri-racial descendants of British and French slavery. May his soul suffer the slings and arrows of eternity for what he did to a kind and simple people. Those people who were kicked off of their land, all broke down in their family units and had many problems due to Wedderburn's 'do gooder' b.s. And by the way, 'the ethnic distinct term 'Negro' is the Spanish word for 'BLACK!' you f'n retard!

    It's tragic. How men! couldn't have just build equal minimalist but secure housing (the way they only do now across Canada unlike the USA with average! twice as big houses) and directly adjusted incomes - as was an option! then in the USSR - or at least have had much higher comprehensive welfare in place then. World government? Statistically and morally that would be an improvement. But when you find out how... resistant... ... .... to fairness non-conservatively balanced not as prosperous in indulging exquisite women's! (of all! backgrounds) true warm beautiful distinct! contributions including!! homosexual safety as fem quarks - centers of radical personal instantly accessible wrath about the TOPIC - societies... are... you realize half the highest university degrees on earth isn't enough to guesstimate the deconstruction of civilization/rights and existence itself in order to malign anyone not becoming a more intense individualized quark no matter how legitimate their anger or memories as to why they (you actually) were born. Oppose democracy's inclusion of conservativism before you trash human safety across the board, not just plaguing horifically individually badly off people. Because that's what going further as an angry quark is all about beyond hitting the doozie of a mark! What positive power as evil does that conjure/revert to?

    @MANDAWAH I don't understand... Many racial minorities were "denied jobs", and opportunities but that didn't stop them... For example the Chinese and Japanese. How come even though they were put under the same circumstances they eventually out performed Europeans? Also, Aboriginals are given benefits in excessive quantity and yet so many still do worse. Perhaps there's another side to the story than just white suppression?

    • @shay322
      @shay322 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      what the hell? you white privelleged person tryna talk up about the minorities! aboriginals are given benefits? tf, there land is gone, residential schools have taken away generations of culture, and they are the highest rate of people missing and dead in Canada. the chinese and japenese outpreformed the europeans yet once the railway canada was tryining to build was done these immigrants were sent back to their countries. look at today, the white man still rules and the more coloured folk are doing the waste jobs, not because of uneducation but because of history and racism.
