The US and especially Europe have always had slums. Any really big city in the USA has areas that are just as impoverished as you see on this video... but they are way more dangerous and scary. Dangerous people on serious drugs will rob you and sometimes murder you.
Now, what people seem to forget about being born and living in a slum area, their immune system is top notch, nothing harms them.. Plus their surrounded by families and they take care of each other, NOTHING like living in a block of apartments where you do not know your own neighbors name and never say hello.. Plus, they are very kind and open, and as you can see the children are all happy wondering around, sure keeps them fit. When you have very little payouts to live, what you have goes on food and water, THUS a happier life, looks harsh and grim but once used to it, its heaven. Money helps but it is only a tool. These people have lots of love and care.
Money is a mere tool hey? Is that why they're always trying any way to scam money from a foreigner? No, money is everything to them, it's just that they can't extract it so easily.
I have never read so much rubbish in one paragraph in my life, Jonathan, sorry man. I was going to take down your comment sentence by sentence, but I'm afraid it will be a waste. To Derek with his Vietnamese backgrounds: when I crossed the Sai Gon river , wandering around in 1990, and accidentally stumbled into a slum, I was given a similar baby. The similar young mum silently wandered off. The slum people encouraged me to accept the baby because I would take care of it. Heart braking. The teenage mum reluctantly took her baby back when I passed her a 1000 Dong note. ( 2.5 peso)
