Thank you, another great review! I could watch it all the time. Your idea with dice is great! I'm impressed how well our trays are working with wargames.
I've had my eye on these trays for a while. I hope they get a US distributor soon, because the shipping alone is about the cost of a five pack of counter trays. They look fantastic. These would be great for American Tank Ace with it's super thin box.
Yes, I was thinking their biggest benefit is to the bigger games, but one of the thin trays can hold about 500 counters, which would work great for a situation like American Tank Ace.
Nice! I bet they would be particularly handy for the Leader games, where you're always looking for specific counters, and setting up a lot of shorter scenarios.
Hmm, the video topic, likely ok, but I must comment, the trays, I did a quick Google and found the source of the trays. Neat. VERY neat. I used to pay 6 bucks for this sort of thing back in the 80s. They sell them for half that today. Very impressive. They ain't much, but they sure work great in storing the counters. And they fit inside wargame boxes nicely.
I really like these trays has certainly made SPQR far more enjoyable, even though at first lid would not go fully down, but juggling the booklets around made it fit. I have been putting the dice in the trays from the start. Next one is Empire of the Sun, which dearly beloved bought me for Christmas, along with C3i Burma Mag & trays. pleased you fixed your counter cruncher. Excellent & informative upload.
Good to hear, coyi! I can see in a particularly tight game you might need to alternate the manual bindings to get everything back in, yes. And I hope you enjoy Empire of the Sun!
Ardwulf has a good video on repairing that Deluxe Oregon Laminations clipper with a wooden handle (and a good explanation why it breaks for many people -- all the stress is on a plastic piece, basically). Personally I went with the non-deluxe because I kept seeing videos of the same issue from various people. I'd say if you do get a new one, go with the non-deluxe for the metal joints that hold up better. Also, before you'd use them, lube it up well with some silicone based lubricant and the inaccuracy of not being able to see the actual clipping goes away. Just clip a few extra/blank counters to get the feel down (and the excess lubricant off).
Thanks! Someone on Mastodon pointed me to the Ardwulf video too, and the manufacturer pointed me to another one on repair. Both were really helpful in getting the clipper back up in action. And lubricating it was huge! I just used a bit of WD40 (didn't have silicone handy) on the posts for the clipper and wow, what a difference.
Thanks for the great video ✌🏻 This video had a great surprise for me... ❤️ I live in Germany and most wargame Accessoires come from US..but those come from Poland 😘❤️ Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Stay healthy and playful And have a great strategic New Year 😉😅
Another winning video! You may be the only guy I know who can make storage trays sound exciting:) Just received my first order from Cube4Me for my unopened copy of "Space Corp 2025-2300". Looking forward to applying your tips.
I have given cube4me several orders. I think they are great, and a good company to deal with. They made a mistake with one of my orders and had replacements on the way before I even contacted them.
Definitely interested in a better storage solution for C&C Ancients; I have the entire collection and keeping blocks organized with little zip lock craft bags is a nightmare
I've used Cube4Me for a number of games and the nested trays (without lids for the bottom ones) really do keep everything from bouncing around. That's not really a concern.
I assume the other advantage to having covers on all the trays is that you can use them in many different games with less than a thousand counters! My question is what are the ordering options? Can I buy trays individually? Can I buy multiple thick trays? Or are the packs of trays sold per game?
Yep, they are pretty mix and match. I've got a link to the website in the video description, and they explain things on the site. You can buy custom sets designed for specific games or just buy trays separately.
I use a large nail clipper. When I get around to clipping my copy I will let you know if my clippers survived hah. I was going to check and see if my dice were the same color but I've got too many things on top of it that it would be a pain. Another solution and one that I am going to go with for my games going forward is replacing their larger dice with smaller dice. That way storage of the dice is easy and on top of that for those who have limited space rolling into a container with a smaller die is a better option.
@@ZillaBlitz Well its clipped Into the Woods, Barbarossa Army Group Center 1941, Napoleon's Last Gamble, and Victory in the West 1940 without a problem! I roll dice into a glass container that isn't a jar but also isn't a dish. They sell them at Hobby Lobby for a couple dollars. I like it because it takes up little space on the table and keeps me from rolling my dice into stacks of counters lol.
@@ZillaBlitz I think I paid $2 for it. The trick is getting the corners even or at least close to even on all of them but you sort of get the hang of it after a few hundred counters.
In the past i would clip counters with fingernail clippers and they had a rounded edge. Now I use a razor blade and nail file to get them excactly square....Next i'll find a teenager to clip them for me for $40.
You're joking, no? Like, that would have taken me several years with this game. :) And funny you mention teenagers, my daughter offered to clip mine for $12/hr. :) I actually enjoy clipping counters, gets me used to all the units in the game and such, so I passed on her offer.
Let me stir the pot...why can't publishers make the counters out of aluminum or something besides cardboard. If aluminum that would eliminate counter cutting entirely, also the counters could be concave so they smartly stack into each other. Just a wild thought no one else seems to think about from my fertile mind.

I am so impressed that everything got back into the box in such an organized fashion. This will be so much help in playing the game. Great product!

Got Cube4Me trays for Warfighter and Zero Leader and really like them. Low profile and the snap on lids are great.

I imagine you in the back pew during Christmas services furtively clipping counters.😁
Haha! Yes, the homily alone was 250 counters long. :)

Yes, that's right, they are shipped from Poland so probably easy for you to get. Lucky! :)

Ha! Thanks! Glad you liked/found the video helpful. I hope you enjoy Space Corp, too. It's on my Shelf of Opportunity. :)

Oh, that's good to know on the service, thanks for sharing! :)
Nice video Zilla on those trays, see you on ets2 soon, I have American tank ace on the table
Thanks! I hope American Tank Ace is going well! :)

I have the base game and storage for that but I know Cube4Me has a massive storage set if you have all the expansions too. It's on their website. :)
Great Video! Counter clipper loses to the Legions just like the Phalanxes of old.
Thanks! I'm interested to see how long the clipper repair holds up, and I'm crafting a wooden handle too. :)

Good to know, thanks! I'll probably do that with Pacific War. :)

That'll need to be one tough nail clipper! And I totally agree on the dice. I like 12mm. :)

That's some impressive nail clipper! Probably a lot cheaper than the Oregon. :)

Excellent 👍👍👍
Hi Charles! Happy Holidays! Glad you liked it. :)
I calculated round about 2.100 counters 😅
Yes, there are a number of double-sized counters, so it's not a perfect 280 x 7.5 math. :)

Oh wow! Counter clipper lost the battle
Yes, The Roman X Legion finished the clipper off, causing a 36-hour delay in the offensive. :)
Hi zilla great video how are you? Lol how did that break the counter clipper
It's a plastic piece that can eventually wear out and snap from use. :)
@@ZillaBlitz ahhhhhhhhhhh ok thought it was metal
Smaller dice works too...
True, that's a good point! :)
@@ZillaBlitz I have become a big fan of the 12 mm size dice.
Yep, me too! I bought 36 packs of Chessex 12mm dice a while back and love them.
Slight miscalculation with the number of counters in the intro....27k seemed a lot!!
Yes, I really need to hire a better statistics team. I'll get my HR department on that, but it's tough to find good help these days. I'll press on. :)
