Thanks had to watch this twice to light my forge. After 2 hours unsuccessfully trying to light up I noticed you crank your Champion No. 400 counter clockwise. Lit up immediately doing just that. All I find on utube is guys cranking clockwise. Cc works much better for me. Thanks so much. Manual is available on line and claims it can be cranked either way.

..Thanks Doug, i learned a lot from this !! The Sulphur dioxide working it's way into the metal answered a question that's been bugging me for a spell. I like to start my fire with some pinecones and old pine stump kindling that is rich in turpentine. Very Good explanation on the levels of a fire also...!!
