Great video and well done for fixing the rudder. You will surprise yourselves by how much you learn and how much more stuff you will be able to fix this time next year so just keep at it your confidence will grow.
Hey, guys. Good to see you getting in the groove and posting more content. Enjoy it very much. Happy happy from another teacher ! Yes to the cook off ! Please have another competition.
Is it always sunny 🌞 on the Thames? I'm glad you managed to fix the rudder without it sinking to the bottom! Good job someone had the bright idea of the rope 😀
Hello guys. Another great vlog. I am really glad your rudder is fixed. Yes to the cooking. I'm thinking some sort of steak and ale casserole stew hotpot thing. The first few seconds when you're saying "I'm Tim, I'm Sam", etc, you point to yourselves just as the popping sound plays with the subscribe graphics. It's as though you were both wearing bubble wrap shirts and couldn't resist the urge!
Fantastic journey and scenery! So glad your steering is straightened out, it’s really nice seeing you travel with friends and how you join the boats for locks. Are you kidding? Of course we want to see a cook off with the thermal cooker! Loads of recipes you could do, I’m thinking someone Will try a vegetarian dish? Travel safe and looking forward to next weeks video.
Good vlog thanks. I think the best way to learn is to have a go yourself so well done. Most narrow boats will have a skeg basically a support from the hull backwards and which supports the bottom of the rudder so probably wouldn't have fallen out but nothing wrong with belt and braces approach. Love that part of the Thames so wide and peaceful 😄.
It felt like we were arriving in Tokyo Bay...another great line. Also I am glad you didn't loose your nuts in the Thames that would have been traumatic!!. Keep on chugging
Haha! Yes, can't remember where we kept the nuts but definitely made sure about that 😂 We nearly dropped our diesel cap in once. Thanks for your comment and kind words as always 😁👍👍🏾
If you ever need to turn force turn your boat, do it in the way your prop is spinning in forward position. RH prop, turn clockwise, LH prop turn anti clockwise. Difference is huge! No harm in parking your bow gently into the bank and walk her around into the wind until almost parallel and then pull off in reverse, to quickly push forward into the right direction.
Hi Sam & Tim. Great Vlog here drinking merrily as you do. I hope you saved some for a rainy day. Great job sorting the Tiller out Tim. Saved you a bob or two. A job worth doing and a lesson learnt. Keep on Chugging.
Sam, Tim, another great Vlog. Glad you got your steering sorted. Good call placing a rope around the rudder. A Summer cook-off sounds good fun. Not had Sherry in years. I may have one tonight after watching you both with your Sherry (I'm sure I have a bottle at the back of the cupboard).Take care.
Very nice video. The pictures were so , so clear and beautiful. Perhaps you may want to consider a drone for high, long shots sometime? Travel safe and looking forward to your next video. Sandy from USA

I didn't think it was possible but your videos keep getting better and better. Excited for the cook off. I'm not sure how the cooker works but I have family in Louisiana and they make like a fish boil. It has shrimp and mussels corn on the cob and whole potatoes and Old Bay seasoning. Wonder if you could make a smaller version in your pot? Love you have a great week

That was a GREAT video! Did you abandon Jeff altogether because he didn't save you a spot? Well, i suppose there could be other reasons. And he could have done a slip, just heading straight down the Thames. (Android has no shrug emoji?!?) I guess the question is whether both boats are still cruising together. Does he have any qualities of his vessels namesake? Or the creator of the name? Good save with your narrowboat pirouette! In hindsight, one sees that coming before reaching the full 90° mark. I was wondering if the wind was working for you or against you. Keeping in mind that I have never seen a narrowboat much less piloted on, but my experience with longer narrow water craft on moving water is the closer you get to that T position from the shore, the more likely that you risk a reverse maneuver (position, not gear). You can save it with real effort until you reach that complete 90° angle and from that point it is inevitable. Of course my experience is with a 26ft canoe on water not unlike the Thames and a sealed kayak where you use your oar to manuever that turn intentionally. Or flip it around under water and back up the other side on rapids. Don't EVER do the under water flip in a narrowboat!! I must try a Sherry!
