- Both pummeling and beautiful. Selkies is a marriage of the most diametrically opposed of musical ideas, and yet, it manages to work on absolutely every level. Fusing harsh growls, and chugging riffs with clean, distant vocals and a jazz inspired guitar solo, Selkies ensnares the listener like no other progressive death metal song can.
I first watched this video several years ago, it randomly popped up as a suggested video so I went for it. That was my first exposure to BTBAM. I had literally had tears of joy when the lead part broke out mid-way through the song. The sheer juxtaposition of the beautiful lead part to end the song against the earlier mayhem of Tommy's intense vocals, plus Paul sneaking some technical taps into those incredible sweeps... BTBAM fan for life from that moment. I still get full body chills when I listen to this song. Thanks BTBAM for creating such a masterpiece of heavy music. Real music still exists.
I always love watching live videos of these guys, because that's where i want to be in like ten years
How you holding up today man? :)
Paul SWAGner. he's got the skills for sure.
it's a shame that only 221 people have viewed this epicness. This DVD was the best purchase I made this summer.
This is amazing. I do however hate the fact that they didn't include the very last part of the song, as it's my favorite part of any song in the whole world.
I got you here fam. :"((
Man, I wish they'd play this when I see 'em. Seen them four times since release of Colors and skunked every time.
This song gives me hope for modern music! Fucking phenomenal
Still mindblowing after 10 years. I saw em once live in Cologne and ever since fell in love with this amazing and talented bad. I hate it as much as I love it, that this isn't beside with Charts music.
when one looks up "music" in the dictionary, this song is played.
That freakin solo 🙏
My absolute favorite band in the world for 10 years straight now. Cannot wait to see them on the 10 year Colors anniversary tour in a few months! \m/
The amazing power behind his vocals.....
It's amazing how good these guys are live.
Love that Dustie is wearing a Dillinger shirt here haha
Amazing. They’re just brilliant live!!!
He must have felt like the most badass person in the whole world after that solo haha GO PAUL WAGGONER!
AMAZING 9999999999999
They played this as their encore when I saw them in 2016, truly amazing, wish I was of age to catch their previous shows in my city
Paul FUCKIN' Waggoner!!!
so good
Abhishek Dubey How about Dustie for being able to keep up with him.
Probably the best song progression of all time.
Classic and never gets old
This might one of the best performances I have seen live, it is done perfectly. I dont usually like growling, but you gotta love Tommy's! And the cleans, uff, I love them even more. Great band, I put is with Haken and Dream Theater as my favorites.
I can't wait to see them next week!!!
Hope to see them in Brazil!
God that snare is on point.
Blakes a beast
Amazing
very well composed
Pentatonic Scale of Am... \m/
wooopppp TDEP t-shirt spotted
Someone listening in 2019?
I LOVE BTBAM AND ALWAYS WILL
I've sadly only had the ability to see them once live and it was after the release of the parallax II. So obviously they played the whole album with one encore song, what was sad, I was the only one to scream for selkies, everyone else wanted white walls. Don't get me wrong, white walls was still absolutely beautiful, but I would've rather heard my favorite song of 5 or so years..
Corey Sampson: had the same problem. I was at the concert after listening to Colors and the older albums and... it was just the future parallax -.-
+Killswitch Kory I would have a tough time choosing between Selkies, and Mordecai. Mordecai was the first song I heard and fell in love with by BTBAM but damn Selkies is a mind blowing track.
they played like 5 years back with Animals as Leaders and I shouted or Selkies at the end, and they played it! They'd also played White Walls previously :)
Between the Barefoot and Me
This is the song that I tell people to listen to if they dont know btbam.
@mikelazer1
I see you
I was listening to this while reading the lyrics and still couldn't follow him during the first verse:)
fucking amazingg!
Yup. This song is good enough to be played out of a dictionary. lol
oh man why couldnt tommy sing the opening lines...much more haunting.
paul waggoner has the talent and the look down. are we sure he isnt jesus?
No, we are not. Paul may be gawd
Perfect, a fucking ad mid-solo
Love this song but what is a Selkie?
Horatio Huffnagel Are you banned from google searching?
Иван Гулиев Maybe.
Horatio Huffnagel its an nhl trophy for being the best defensive offense-man of the season lol
CTeves97 well done.
666 like metal af
complete fail that the camera would leave pauls guitar AT ALL during the solo....
The drummer doesn't even play some parts the way they were written...
Except he wrote the parts so he can do whatever the fuck he wants with them.
Blakes awesome but i always liked mark castillo
I've always loved the look of this concert film. cleanly shot and not 10000 cuts a second.
It's amazing how good these guys are live.
SO good. I seen them with coheed and cambria. Prob the best show ive seen
I went to high school with claudio from coheed and these are 2 of my favorite bands. Must have been an amazing show!
