So, when you rinse it, the cool water cools the top layer of egg faster, thereby shrinking it and creating a gap. You can do the same with cracking it on both ends and putting it into cold water.
NGL, vinegar maybe do the trick, but if only cook 4-5 eggs, I'll never use it. I'll take my time to peel it. For me, the key is a fresh eggs and the drop temperature of water. I prefer not to inhale the tanginess of vinegar. I rarely use vinegar.

I roll my boiled eggs to get the shell to split and then I peel them under the running tap in the sink and the water helps get the shell off :)
