  • Easy prop Motor build. Great for skulls, light plastics, foam, etc… Does not have a strong torque so can’t move things that are too heavy.

    Super helpful video. Thank you for explaining this.

    Thanks for your pro-human choice of terminology. It was refreshing to hear "really small" drill bit instead of "1.25 mili-vanilimeters." By keeping the minutia out of the way it was easier to focus on the goal.

    Just last week I made a 3d printed adapter for these 7mm motor connections to go out to 3/4 PVC. It eliminates the slop of the screw in the shaft since it's a tight fit. It replaces the blue and red pex you're using. You can hear the slop I'm referring to when the motor is shaken around in the video at 4:16, although it's very minimal due to your clever use of the two pex sizes. Nice solution!

      Awesome. Always interested in how people find work arounds for these motors.

    The motor will automatically reverse direction? I want to upgrade my heavy metal snowman band so it looks like they're head banging. If they do this would be perfect!!!

    Can you link the motors you used. Cuz as I understand it not all of them will reverse???
    Also are the ones ur using 5vish or 120v?

      The link for one type is in video description and here is another similar. They use regular 120v plugs that usually come with motor. All motors I’ve used went both directions.

    Thanks for making this video. I was just about ready to pull my hair out trying to find the right size screw to fit this motor and make it stay in. It never occurred to me to drill out the hole. I also liked how you used the pipe. It has me thinking of what else I can use these motors for. Will you have more videos on other applications for these motors?

      Appreciate it! Believe me, took a lot of trial and error and thrown motors. I just uploaded another video using motor for skeleton hand movements I used in my zombie pallet prop video. Newest video may help you even more, hopefully. Good luck!

    Is there a way to get it to work with a remote control? I’m trying to get something to turn but only a little bit on command

      I never thought about doing that but maybe a remote plug like this:

    Used the link but they didn’t reverse and went really slow despite being the same. Will try another brand and see

      The speed will determine the rpm so 2-3 is the slowest and my range is between 2-60rpm, just depends what I buy. They should reverse when any hard friction disrupts turning. Here are some other links of three different brands.

      Thank you. Turns out I wasn’t applying enough resistance but tried again after your comment. Thanks again

    Why didn't you put a bolt all the way through the shaft of motor instead of sticking that screw in just a little?

    • @brianbenson3091
      @brianbenson3091  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The one screw went all the way through both pipes. If you are talking about the screw sticking out a little bit, that is to catch resistance to move opposite direction. My initial screw is a #4 and I only found 1 inch screws. If that is what you are asking?

  • @troybower9419
    @troybower9419 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Says “can’t move things too heavy.” Can it move 20pds on wheels? Also, I need a motor that reverses direction with resistance like you did with the screw….would it change direction when the prop (on wheels) hit a stop-block? Essentially looking to move a 20pd skateboard back and forth in front of my house.

    • @brianbenson3091
      @brianbenson3091  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would need to test how much it can move. With a pushrod it could essentially go back and forth when it hits any resistance over the weight threshold. But when I have my next day off I’ll see how or if it can be done.

    • @troybower9419
      @troybower9419 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be greatly appreciated! Can you explain what you mean by “with a pushrod…..?” Are you saying that the motor would reverse once the skateboard got to the end of the track and hit something?

    • @brianbenson3091
      @brianbenson3091  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would use a metal rod and attach to motor and skateboard to make a rotation. This link I’m sharing is my video how I built something similar to what I’m talking about, around the 3:40 mark

      You can move anywhere between 5-8 pounds (including skateboard). I made a video showing it because I explaining would be be long. I’ll also upload how I did it.

      I thought very recently it's only me who can use this motor as a cheap solution of reverse forward movement for one of my application. So there is another person who already use this idea 😮..
