Awesome video Yale, … very informative as usual👏…. A lot of friends in my area have KitchenAid undercounter ice makers… I’ve often wondered what the quality difference is between a Scotsman, or a kitchen Aid…. it’s hard for the average person to tell the difference until after the purchase has been made… in some cases the differences are negligible,… And other cases there is a huge difference between these products that seem otherwise similar
The subzero has an automatic cleaning function - pour in cleaner and sanitizer and it does it all for you. Also, do all of these melt old ice automatically so your ice is always fresh?
Wow, I think the original poster had an excellent question about noise: the volume of the compressor turning over (which on our Marvel is VERY loud), the sound of the ice dropping as they are cut through the heat grid and falling into the bin (expected and reasonable), the sound of the water running to the unit itself (again, a reasonable sound)-the worst offender is the booming compressor noise, which I’m trying to avoid in my upgrade, so wondering if I should go with KitchenAid or Sub-Zero, and the reply from someone at Yale Appliance is nothing short of a total smart-ass reply. I hope @beaukramer9265 got a solid answer from somewhere.
Thanks for the video!
Bigger cubes melt slower because they have a smaller surface area to volume ratio

Excellent video very informative easy to watch!
Do any of these machines keep the ice in the bin frozen overnight?
Can they stop when the bin is at capacity?

Wish I had room for a separate ice maker. Maybe I will look into the counter top model. Never saw that before. Thanks!
I like it
Which one is the quietest for indoors?
Great question. I think taking ice trays, pouring water, and then adding to the freezer is the quietest. You will hear the ice dropping on the rest

How do these make ice? My mom said you dump ice into them? Or do you dump water into them.
You plumb water to it....then it turns water to ice.
Do you guys service the GE countertop opal?
The portable?
