    2008 Mustang GT owner here, thanks for this video! My handle seems to be fine (but pulls up way higher), but the cable for my passenger side rear wheel either came loose or snapped a few days ago. I know that the main line to the handle didn't stop because the e brake still works and my car isn't rolling down. I was too lazy to go under the car but did a simple visual inspection of which rear brake wasn't engaging to determine which cable was broken. I have been under my car many times, especially for the two clutch jobs I did lol but its been a long while and I'm off my game a little bit LOL.
    I really appreciate the clear tutorial, and I'm really impressed that you recorded this without any hiccups happening like something getting stuck somewhere. Thats usually how it is when you are working on cars lol. Thanks again

    Clear insructions. None of the self-indulgence usually seen on diy videos. Nice Job!

    Very informative video and straight to the point. Well done working while having a phone in your hand. I'm swapping out my e-brake lever now.

    Thanks for the video. It saved me a lot of trouble. Just replaced mine. Only thing I would add is after you clip in the new cable underneith, you have to adjust the cable all the way loose to have enough slack in order to get the two rear brake cables attached to the clip. Wasn't sure if I should have attached those first and then clip in the cable. Once clipped in, you can't remove it without destroying the retaining clip.

      It's easy enough to do after it's clipped in. Just need to take a flat head and pry the parking brake spring up a bit and slide the cable notch in.

    Your vid is tits! Camera is moving a lot but isn’t annoying and I didn’t get dizzy and impatient watching it. Loved how you loosed all your bolts beforehand to move this along. Lots of great tips. Thumbs up from me. Thanks for sharing!

    Awesome video, I have a 2012 mustang gt. My e brake wont grab. I checked all my e brake cables and everything seems to be good. I tried adjusting them, still same issue. Can it be the rear calipers? If so , can they be adjusted?

    NIce video but your breathing under that car and the angles made it feel like a scene from "descent" where she's hiding in that cave from the monster thingies! :p

    Very informative video. I know it's not easy to shoot under there. Great job at explaining. just wondering, isn't there some way to just replace the short cable that leads from the handle down under the car? Looks like you had to replace the entire E break. Is that correct?

    • @thomasmorning7274
      @thomasmorning7274  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! And no not for these year mustang's. The earlier ones in the 90' you could but this cable at one end is the adjustment nut where the shank of the threads flare out at the end so there is no way to get the bolt off. Then the cable runs through the handle assembly that is riveted on then at the end where it's common for stock ones to break (shown in the video) that piece is cable crimped on so no way to do it without replacing the whole handle. I know... it's a pain! Lol but thank you so much for the nice comment!

    Great video, only issue I ran into was prying off the retaining crown due to the pipes in the way. Other than that the video goes in full detail

    If that pin that holds the front cable at the bottom is bad is that any goof

    • @thomasmorning7274
      @thomasmorning7274  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for late reply. But if the pressed on piece at the end of the cable on your EBrake side is bad then the whole thing needs to be changed. I know it's a pain but its all one piece

    How do you adjust the tension as you said?

    • @thomasmorning7274
      @thomasmorning7274  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is that opening remove that door and there is a big tensioner screw keep turning it until you get your desired tension then tighten the little lock nut on it to keep it there. Test it out you should be good. If it's getting looser you are turning it the wrong way 👍🏽. Hope this helps

    • @generolmatt4
      @generolmatt4 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kashy7781 yes I figured it out. It's a very dumb design. Unfortunately same way from 05 to current mustangs. It's one unit so the cable is attached to the ebrake handle. There is a metal pin that's clamped to the brake cable. The pin just popped off. It's dumb it's one whole unit. Also because it's a ford part it cost $250 for the part. But didn't have a choice unfortunately.

    Hey do u know what the extra cable for

    • @thomasmorning7274
      @thomasmorning7274  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Extra cable? Not sure what cable your talking about. But there is one cable from the e brake handle that connects onto the link where it pulls the 2 cables evenly. One cable for right rear brake the other cable for the left rear brake to hold them evenly. Hope that answeres your question. Thank you for watching!

    Mine also snapped so its not the line under the car

    • @thomasmorning7274
      @thomasmorning7274  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the pressed on hex piece that becomes uncrimped and gets weak and slides off.

      @UR_AL_SHOOK_UP 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is it unsafe to drive because iv ben driving my car with no ebrake for a couple weeks ..and raceing it...

    • @thomasmorning7274
      @thomasmorning7274  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@UR_AL_SHOOK_UP yes it's ok to drive it without that setup. All other breaking will work as normal and for a standard(manual) you can just leave the vehicle in gear so it doesnt roll when you shut it off. I drove a good amount of time without the ebrake. Just look under you car and make sure those cables are not hanging to get caught on anything. They really shouldn't anyway since when this part breaks those cables are short and the connection is just lost. But no problem with leaving your car in gear and that being your ebrake.

    Does anyone carry a upgraded cable so you don’t have to continue to replace them?

    • @thomasmorning7274
      @thomasmorning7274  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one that comes factory on the car has defects with its crimp. The new ones you get are pretty much upgraded because of this problem so any one you get nowadays should last you the life of the vehicle.

    • @vh8765
      @vh8765 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas Morning,
      Makes sense.
      I just bought an low mile 05 GT and the E brake Will tighten up enough to hold the car in place but will not release without pulling the wheel and gripping it with pliers and pushing it back. Car set for a while and it’s corroded pretty badly under there. I think I just need to replace the cables and that should do it.
      Thanks for the reply

    • @thomasmorning7274
      @thomasmorning7274  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vh8765 sounds like the springs on the actual rear brakes are sticking. If you Get yourself some PB blaster which is penetrating oil and follow the cable to the rear tire mechanisms. Lube them up and see if the pb blaster loosens it up so it returns.

    • @vh8765
      @vh8765 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas Morning,
      Yep, good call. I think it could be a problem with the rear calipers. Or at least one of them. Did the PB blaster thing and it didn’t loosen anything up.
