Back in 1970 I was in a military event in August in Texas. We were told that if anyone fainted from the heat or fell we were to step up and close the line. I went from the seventh line to the front line. That's how hot it was and that's how ridiculous it is to make someone stand in line during the heat like that in full uniform! And it doesn't change. There was a recent documentary that mentioned an event from 3,500 years (or more) ago that a King sent a message to the Egyptian Pharaoh about how angry he was to find out that the emissaries he sent were made to wait for hourse outside the palace to roast in the sun and if the Pharaoh sent any men to HIS kingdom, he would return the favor!
When leadership lacks common sense, there is an issue with competency. Thousands of cattle just died in Kansas from heat stroke because they didn't have access to water.

NOT a competition. A joint exercise of brothers-in-arms to increase combat capability on both sides. Nobody won or lost, the US just suffered far more casualties only halway into the exercise, surrendered, and called for a reset.

As someone who has also just fainted today, fainting due to exhaustion or heat is the WORST feeling ever since cluster headaches. I couldn't even stand still during that time. I was shaking. And these guards were standing completely still. Huge respect.

Standing at attention is rather uncomfortable, but fainting is caused specifically by low blood circulation, which causes low pressure in the brain.
Heat does make things worse, and could cause fainting by itself. Lighter wardrobe helps but doesn't solve the problem. Actually, heavy trousers hide some micromovements and muscle contractions you can do while standing to help circulation.

One man faints is one man out of action. One man faints, two men hold him up, three men out of action. They have a ceremony to complete - timed down to the last nanno-second - you can't fanny around with a soldier/officer "out of action", there would be total chaos. The stretcher parties and medics will deal with them. It's not a Sunday School outing.
In the US Navy they taught us to bend our knees just the tiniest bit, so they weren't in a locked position, as this was supposed to help with blood flow. I never had to stand at attention in the heat, thankfully, but prolonged periods in formation are a part of service for every branch.

Fainting is caused in heatstroke due to dehydration causing a drop in blood pressure. Salt causes high BP by promoting water retention due to osmosis. So they’ll be fine.

I worked manual labor in 110+ degree F weather. They made us hydrate every 15-20 min. Heat exhaustion/stroke is and can be very dangerous.

The uniform is the main problem. We work in Temps over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summers here in Missouri but we wear neon shirts and blue jeans. They're killing those guys with black fur hats and red jackets.

As a groomsmen, I fainted at my brother’s wedding during the ceremony on a hot august afternoon in California and I believe it was because I tried to stand dead still and locked both of my knees for an extended period of time. Luckily, I fell directly forward onto my friend in front of me so he was able to stop me from falling on my face.
Never lock your knees, saw someone do that during a surgery once and they fainted. Fun times.

I was thinking the same thing... and it's not necessarily a huge change needed either. The same colors and design could be made with different fabrics and discreet "vents" could be placed strategically. The hat though... it needs to go, and if it can't it needs to be changed big time, no more bear fur. Your head is the last place you want heat trapped when your body is already tolerating excessive heat.
