    I hit that road this year coming from Bozeman heading back to Ohio. Took 14 out of Yellowstone and then down the canyon. I did about 7200 miles and mile per mile that was one of the coolest roads I was on.

      Awesome! If you are looking for other rides in that area I recommend a side trip to South Pass City ( there is a short distance of gravel) and the valley south of Dubois is beautiful as well.

      Wind River Canyon is really something to see. I hope you have time on that leg of your trip to leave Cheyenne heading west as far as Rock Springs and then back over South Pass to Lander on the way to Wind River Canyon. A link to my vid South Pass City to Lander is here to tempt you :th-cam.com/video/KF6WwCm5sPI/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks, I have made that trip 3 times but the last time was 13 years ago and I had forgotten just how beautiful it is. There is something about it being shot from a motorcycle that just puts you there.

      Thanks Roy, for watching my vids, and commenting. It is always nice to hear from the people enjoying my vids. Yes, somehow the perspective from a bike does just seem to put you in the picture, rather than just watching it!

    I took this ride (in the same direction) at the end of July '16 on my Road Glide. It sure seemed at times like that river ran uphill. Thanks for sharing.

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does seem that way, it is because of the angle of the layers of the exposed rock, riding south seems to be riding downhill, the river seems to be flowing uphill, we found ourselves checking a few times!

    Your videos look pretty professional, what editing software do you use? Is it a paid version?

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use Adobe Premiere Pro, yes, very much a paid version. Thanks for the compliment, I do try to make my vids appear professional.

      @@RobertMerz also don't mind the fact that I sucked at this course! Been riding for over 20 years and this was the first time I've ever did this! Who knew turning was hard!

      @@RobertMerz don't know where my other comment went but it make the comment that is there make sense after I retype it...
      I just got an Akaso action camera and trying to use their phone editing app doesn't work for me, too small. Looked for a desktop version with no luck. Did find the Movavi program but didn't know it would have a watermark across the final version. All I wanted to do was string 3 videos together and speed up parts of it. I forgot I have used Microsofts photos editing program so I will try that to accomish the same thing. Anyway, here is the link to my video and then my other comment will make sense hopefully. Ride often, ride safe. EYROYS

      @@RobertMerz the comment is there now, above your last reply, it has a link to the video I made. I thought it wasn't there because of the link. Anyway if you can see my reply, that's what I was wanting you to see. All good, no worries.

    Love your videos. Looking at them all to help decide on trip from Michigan. Where do you put your mic? the bike sounds so great!!!

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I am glad you are enjoying. I am afraid to say that the bike sound is recorded separately and then I build audio tracks from those recordings to suit the video tracks that I have created, and the audio is recorded from the back seat of the bike.

      Thanks for your kind comment, I am always glad to hear about someone enjoying my work. I have been to Lewiston several times and have missed the "Old Spiral Highway" each time. I have heard about it though and definitely have to check it out next time I go through.

    Just Curious?? what time of year did you ride this? & what was the weather & temp like there? considering that was over 4,000 ft up in the mountains.

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We rode this in mid August. Weather was really nice and temperatures were touching 100 degrees for daytime highs.
      This is a ride you should be able to do well into October (weather dependent) with no worries about cold or possible snow until late September. Something to keep in mind is that the base elevation in Wyoming is mostly 3,500 to 4,000 feet. The higher elevations allow for hot weather in the summer, with wider temperature swings, and as fall approaches (September and October) there is higher probability of winter like weather occurring for a day or two at a time. If I was travelling a long ways top ride any Wyoming highways I would plan my trip to be wrapped up by late September to be sure of enjoying moderate weather.
      Thanks for watching!
