Thanks Tom for this lesson,I've always wanted to learn this song one of my Eric Clapton favourites great the way you slow it down so it's easier to follow, respect to sir 😀
Thanks man! As usual I checked out a lot of interps and you win the grand prize...my appreciation! I like this song a lot but Clapton makes it all come alive. After 50 years of listening to him I can't hear a better player....ALL things considered...and there's a lot to consider. He's absorbed every guitar player's knowledge, reintegrated it into a super-nova of knowledge and talent. What player doesn't use some of his vocabulary at some point? He has influenced me hugely and he's the only stranger who because of what he's given isn't a stranger at all. Ya know? Excuse the babble...I just wanted to say thanks for your excellent effort and clean lovely result. D
Some tips from someone who has studied this song quite a bit: if you want to get the solo right, you have to listen to the instrumental version here: th-cam.com/video/nXofDuPn4KM/w-d-xo.html Slow it down if you have to and learn to recognize the proper hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, and slides. There are also times when you play two strings at once. The final five notes probably aren’t what you think they are. Just listen very carefully. For the rest of the song I would suggest looking for the original sheet music. I found it and some of the chords are rather unusual if you’re a beginner. The first few chords for the intro also aren’t the same as the chords used in the verses even though you might logically think they are, but they don’t quite sound the same.
Tom plays Guitar: I would also like to add that I personally whittled away at that solo for a long time and I kept realizing that things I was playing were wrong. I can think of at least three instances where that was the case, the last five notes being one of them.
Great lesson! Best lonline lesson of this song I've been able to find. Thank you very much! Also I really like the tone of your guitar for this song. I looks like a hollow body electric guitar of some kind. Is it a custom made guitar ? If not, would you please share the make and model as well as any pedals you are using? Sound of the guitar as well as the quality of the lesson are both great! Thanks again. - Bill H.
Great lesson thank you Colin UK 🇬🇧 more Clapton please

Oh man....it's really refreshing to see someone just play it ...so I can watch and follow along. Thank you!

The guitar is an Ovation, model Celebrity. It is electric . No pedals, just the sound from the pickup in the guitar. Thanks for the comment.
