Obsidian has a habit of placing powerful heavy machine guns in the lairs of dangerous monsters. Anyone making a heavy weapons build should pick up the old reliable in the Primal nest in Emerald Vale too.
Sadly at this time of the game player will find LMG Mk2. Wich one have ~980 dps and can install both barrel and mag mods. Sadly this is true with almost all unique weapons - they are inferior to their modded vanilla counterparts.
I found a different unique item on Monarch as well that hasn't been covered yet. I will try to spare spoilers here. You landed in cascadia but likely found the bridge leading to the other side of the town sealed. I found that i needed to get to the bridge from the other side, but there may be a way i didn't find. Anyway, on the bridge is an elevator that leads beneath it housing a unique enemy named Herbert who was lvl 27 for me. He has the unique Scythe Candy Cane.
I remember finding this gun. I was really underlevelled for Monarch and when I found it hachi machi I turned the fuck around and began to rip and tear until it was done
Gotta love the Mass Effect reference here. If people don't remember the character or have played the game. Zaed was a character at near the end he has a quote "Let's all go be Big God Damn Heroes." Gotta be a nod to that at least.
I found the light machine gun mk2 modded for plasma dmg and with some other mods to be far superior, which was very disappointing, really wanted to make use of this one

I literally did all I could find on the first map, did everything on the groundbreaker without leaving , and went to monarch... I found it to be relatively easy to plow through everything (except for 2 deaths when i didnt even notice the big groups of enemies and walked straight in)
Nevaran I’m uh... Sort of streaming it on supernova. I was heading to roseway first, because even though I can afford the key (sticky fingers means lots of bits) I don’t want to be flat broke.
They're far inferior to mk2 weapons, especially when you consider the mods you can attach. Most unique weapons only have 1 or 2 mods, whereas mk2 can hold 3. This means more damage, or reduced noise, et cetera that you wouldn't otherwise get. They're also underwhelming in terms of damage. The result is they just aren't worth using, since you can craft a better weapon. Even some of the stronger ones like Pink Slip, which has an amazing effect of extra crit damage, doesn't compare to a dead eye sniper II because you can grab plasma on the dead eye. It doesn't matter in lower difficulties but makes a big difference on harder ones.
Chibi Qilin yeah I agree. Huge bummer. Unique weapons or legendaries like in fallout are one reason I like games like this. They kinda become personal or special to me/my character....I really think they dropped the ball. The rapti-don’t machine gun uses energy so that’s cool but I don’t see myself running out of light ammo....idk...
Even though the unique weapons can be underwhelming, it's still fun to find and collect them. That being said, the unique weapons in this game lack the personality of the ones in NV, but I'm not going to begrudge Obsidian that quibbling little point.

I am Me yeah I use an enray mk2 that uses heavy and go back and forth. Seems like the best option. Found an armor set that boosts enray so just the tinkering I need to focus on. I think being able to mod the unique weapons would b nice. It’d b cool if they’d let u mod them but only on supernova or the higher difficulties
It’s a shame with the lack of visual differences between weapons, sure you can upgrade and mod but it doesn’t really feel in depth or game changing.. unique kit just sort of falls in with everything else visually.
What really sucks is that the unique ones arent unique, the rapti-dont is just a modded normal heavy. A heavy with plasma mag, fire rate barrel and ( if the mk2 has a sight which i dont know atm) might actually be better stat wise and uses the more common heavy ammo even when plasma modded. The damage difference i the video mostlikely comes from the science perk which boosts plasma damage accordingly.
Personally, I still prefer Ol' Reliable over this. If necessary, mod it to do plasma damage and go to town. In one playthrough where I focused on using heavy weapons along with heavy armor as a frontline fighter, I used console commands to give myself a second copy of Ol' Reliable, modded the original for plasma damage and the other for corrosive damage. I was unstoppable! To be fair, though, once you have decent gear and if you play smart, this game isn't particularly hard even on the hardest difficulty.
So besides the higher base damage there is not so much special about this one. I mean you can modify any normal weapon to use plasma (although i prefer the shock mod since it seems to be effective against everything and keeps annoying melee fighting mobs at a distance (they can't run towards you if they make a "electric dance" on their way to you xD) and hinders fleeing mobs from running to far away). Maybe you could make a video and show the best weapon + mod combinations (i think the shock/electricity is the best damage, but who knows, maybe there is a weapon that is better with plasma or physical damage). In my games i use always a sniper rifle with a plasma modification and a machine gun with a shock modification (yes, i avoid melee fights and try to kill everything from as far as possible ("Shoot anything that moves! If it doesn't move, shoot it anyway!". The colony is dying? Well, after my "visit" it will be dead for sure xD)).
That's about it. Name and increased in 2 stats. You could modify a normal Hevay Machine Gun to do Plasma and have it be the same. The only really unique weapons are the Science Weapons. Shrink Ray and Elemental Hammer.
Get Old Reliable, then use Old Reliable to get to Rapti-Don't! Keep BOTH in your main weapon slots and upgrade the level as needed and finish the game with these! RIGHT!
@@ardyn407necroderg Yeah, although 2 of the planets have potential reason for not being needed, Typhon is an unhabitable ice planet on the edge of the system. Eridannos is a Gas giant, so only thing that could be there to visit would maybe a station (akin to Cloud City from SW) if they had DLC relating to it.
Find a mk. 2 Flamethrower (they're baseline of 22 I think, so they can be tinkered up to a higher level for relatively cheap) and equip it with the mod that changes dmg to plasma.
I use three different lmgs and I swap constantly while my companion shoots with her granade launcher and my bro max staggers and harasses them,its pretty fun and kinda abusive lol.
There was a whole hell of a lot of 1:58 going on my play through and the shit was annoying. I was getting knocking into the pools by those damn things.
Some of the special weapons Im finding are FAR inferior to their normal counterparts. When the special ability is somthing that CANT be normally moded on, such as Ol Reliables nearly 15 times durability compared to other LMGs that makes it worth it. BUT when the special ability is just "here is a mod baked into the weapon and oh yeah you cant mod it further" the weapon is heavily inferior to a normal moded gun of the same type. Also you are wrong. Base damage on a HMG is identical to Rapti-Dont. The only two things Rapti-dont has over a normal HMG is it has a slightly higher ROF which means slightly higher DPS and it uses Energy ammo instead of Heavy.
But the weapon says Damage 77...isn’t the damage number more key than the bold number on these weapons? Thanks 😊 edit- oh ok. I see it is pretty powerful and uses different ammo. Wonder if I can equip Parvati with this as I use melee swords 🗡 and have gotten to level 10 just fine. Some weapons I’ve noticed also say like 48 (x4)....wonder if that means 48 times 4 ? Your not alone most of the unique weapons suck in this game compared to an upgraded and modified regular counterpart of said unique weapon also you can't modify uniques epic fail and wasted opportunity
It's nothing like Fallout. I don't know why people are trying to find a link between the 2. Yes, this Obsidian did Fallout 1&2 and about half of it did FNV but that's about it so for the sake of everyone stop calling it a Unofficial Fallout Game.
While I wouldn't go so far as to call it dlc it is very, very blatant that this is basically Fallout:NV with a fresh coat of paint. It's crystal clear Obsidian made it with the intent of appealing to fans frustrated with the direction Bethesda has taken the Fallout franchise.
Be sure to don't not get this weapon.

Heavy Machinegun 2 is better, Light machinegun 2 is even better, but costs astronomical to upgrade to lvl 35

This weapon heavily reminds me of cz75 avenger mini gun from new Vegas. More base damage, smaller box, faster fire rate, all that good shit.

Are you comparing these weapons at equal levels? With the AR Uniques, I notices that the base damages were the same at equal levels.
What I wouldn’t give for an endgame plasma rifle in this game; though this is sufficient otherwise if heavy and ammo consuming.

The 48x4 means that you fire 4 "bullets" or 4 "projectiles" that do 48 damage each :)
