Dude I just clicked on your video out of chance cause I saw a clip of the race footage on pinkbike. Your editing style is fantastic though and I stayed for every bit of the video. Keep doing what you're doing cause you're killing it man
I'm a MTB bumbler not a racer but I enjoyed your explanation on the downside of the race and organisation, must be so frustrating especially given all the prep and planning you have to do to get there etc etc..... Good luck with whatever races your doing next 👍
At least y'all had a chance to race, here in Italy the first National was the 4th and 5th of May, they canceled the damn thing because 3 weeks prior it snowed. The bike park opened anyway during that weekend and it was a bit wet but it was raceable
Meanwhile in Ireland. "If only we had a series like the BDS" Don't envy any organisers of any races. Just to get a venue on a calendar alone is a monumental feat no mind running the event itself over here.
British Cycling are not the organisers, the organisers are the likes of Si Paton and other small companies. They choose the best dates available and the weather in Wales is always going to be wet. I raced Llangollen BDS in the wet and half the competitors quit & went home. Marshalls are organised by the organisers, not British Cycling. Get used to it mate, it has always been this and always will be :)
This is why I don't race. All that time and effort just for a few runs of a trail (or two). What a palava? All that waiting around, queueing, & others getting in the way is not for me.
Too true. Rheola in summer is a no brainer. I loved the track but hated thw venue. Quite difficult for all the riders to park there. Another thing that surprised me is that Malc (the fella who runs gravity events who are the people who organised this event) didn't change the track at all from the regional race the weekend before! Just lazy and dissapionting organisation all around.

I would have just turned round and gone pub after seeing the track in that condition

British cycling needs to pay more attention and get the organisers like Gravity events to do better in my opinion
I personally think a good national opener would be Antur Stinog. The track is good no matter the weather. Only thing would be high winds
Great video Ethan, keep it up pal 👍
