Erik, you certainly do a great pedal demo. Complete feature coverage. No fancy fretwork, just careful playing that lets me hear what I can do. Decent bass distortion is a plus.
Helluva pedal! Do you think it worth swapping the HL+HB for it? Or does it answer another use case as you presented at the end as a supercharged DI box?
The red mode does NOT route the EQ pre-compression like you stated. Red mode routes the Harmonic Booster before the Compressor and then into the EQ. likewise, In blue mode, the HBO is post compression. In both cases, the EQ is the end of the signal chain. ☮️
Had to check this and your right which i thought was a little weird of them to do it this way comp but makes sense so you can eq it back up after compression vs just squashing the entire eq section .
Thanks for the review Eric! Do you think this pedal is a potential Sans amp replacement or they can work good together? Ps I’m not a metal player, but I like heavy and funky tones
Normally I would say: why the hell is there a compressor and EQ in the same pedal when they usually go in different places on the pedalboard? But rules are meant to be broken and this pedal seems to work great.
I’ve been watching your channel for a long time. You cover all the gear and topics I’m into. But in all transparency, I had to start skipping around and then stopped watching for months because I cannot listen to that same bass line for 20 minutes over and over again.
The best review about Darkglass Staff.
Thank You for your DIG dedication
@@patrickmasone3014 Thank you!! 🙏
Yess 🔥 Really liked this one when I briefly tried it at the Guitar Summit
It’s pretty darn cool!!

Thanks man! :)
this pedal looks amazing i play a fender american pro ii precision and this will help beef up the tone to another level.
💪💪💪
Or just a fear of the dark(glass)? Great review as always Erik
@@michaeljablonski8212 Fear of the Dark(glass), Fear of the Dark(glass) - I have a constant fear that them tonez are always there 🎶🎵 Thanks!! 🙏

Hmmm… well, you might find yourself wanting the different compression controls of the HL, but other than that: yes! :)
Very cool

Can you put a dirt pedal in front of this one?
Yup!! That’s what I did at around 16:04!

But the eq is tied to the harmonic booster is it not?
Could you do a AOP combined with Luminal Booster demo? Thx
I’ll see what I can do! :)

@@Voodoo_Fist They can probably work pretty nice together! Run the Nano into the Sansamp :)
What was the 1st pedal in the signal chain?....it was a bit unclear
TC electronic poly tune :)

Yeah, this one is great!!
The eq has a huge effect on how the compressor reacts, want you compress mids more? Increase mid eq or vice versa
What does the character knob do?
Same as on the harmonic booster - scoops the tone a bit, essentially :)
@erikarko so is it like a blend for a bass/treble boost? Just trying to get my head around it 😁
@MaxRyles Essentially, yes!! :)
@@erikarko thank you!
I really can't understand the sense of having a mid control and mid freq pot when u got the six band eq sliders.
The six band EQ is set for the specific EQ points, whereas the Mid control has a sweepable frequency point :)
Somewhat comparable to the new preamp from tech 21
Yeah, actually! :)
Can this get any dirty or is it simply cleans?
@@marnuswessels1 It’s only clean! :)
@erikarko thanks!!

@ thank you for making the videos you make. I only meant this as constructive criticism. Still enjoy watching you.

I imagine this is a 500 dollar pedal.
Somewhere around that, yes :)
