Now that's how that guitar was meant to be played, not gonna compare that to any other player other than to say, THAT IS DAVE'S PLAYING!!! I think that body was a 2010, the neck is from a 2009, the pickups are tonerider alnico blues 2 set with grey fibre bottoms, 250 bourns pots and a vintage mullard .47 cap. One of the original pickups that came with that body was dead so I swapped them all out and completely rewired it, including switch and jack. It was just a little project that turned out great, and it helps when you have Dave Simpson ripping it into life!!!!! Nice one pal!
Just when I was getting really cheesed off with all the tat on TH-cam today along comes this absolute gem from yours truly. Think I will have to put in on loop until I go to bed later. Thanks Dave :-) .
Brilliant playing...ode to Rory and Johnny Winter...throw in a bit of Alvin Lee....you need to take this to Chicago and jam with Buddy Guy my friend.....you're truly a blues rock master...
You play so incredibly well that you are enraptured. When you play your calm melodies and let the stratocaster speak to my soul, I float away. You master all music and styles completely fluently and think of SRV when I see you as you always know where you are going. An absolutely world-class guitarist and can lie listening to your playing for hours. ❤❤❤
Who needs to spend big bucks on watching stadium bands when Dave Simpson with his band in a bedroom can blow our minds and ears while sat in our living rooms! That Mr Simpson made me grin ear to ear awesome!!!!!
Listening to you hop across so many styles with such mastery was awe-inspiring. But, I have to admit, your blues stuff speaks to me the most. I could listen to that all day, every day. Thank you for doing what you do.
I had a Road Worn about 10-12 years ago in white that I scored used with a case for $450. I regret ever getting rid of it after seeing the prices on the new and used markets.
My dream is a goldtop..even jst a cheap one like a firefly.or a 10s. But old strat and lp styling will never get old or uncool..and I want to say again....this is the best channel on the toob..yesterday I had great conversations in the comments like usual and it's jst a great place...you've made a little empire here dave... most eveyone here is respectful but still fun...world take note..lol
weird to see you playing the body of my old guitar, fair to say you have made me regret selling it even more but its living a good life! Good stuff Dave!
Punishing the pickup switch like there's no tomorrow. Now I feel like I'm being too soft to my Strat, haha! Great playing, man. Subscribed, you need 1/2 mil subscribers.
Hi Dave. Wow! If that guitar is not set-up how you like then u might consider setting your guitar like that one cos l’ve not seen you so inspired since the classic “unboxing the red bullet strat” l love all your posts, man. Take it easy x
This is one of this VERY RARE channels that you can come to at Any time you want to listen a great GREAT Music and playing))) A Massive Thanks (as always) :)
I have a 2009 Olympic White RW and I love it. That guitar was my first Strat and it changed my life. Now, I need its sunburst rosewood board sister. Yes, I'm a greedy American. 😂
Lovely! I’m enjoying this very much. I almost bought an 08/09 road worn Tele but I didn’t have the money at the time. It sold to someone else and opportunity lost. Gah. Anyway that Strat is lovely indeed. Great playing, sir!
I have one from 2009. Same sunburst. Previous owner put CS69 pups in it. I'm going to replace the nut with a bone one and the block with a Callahan. Very, very nice guitar! Soooo sweet!
If I didn’t know you were being 100% honest to how you feel, that whole “struggle to play this guitar” bit would make me scream. May I one day struggle to play like you do! 🤣 Fantastic playing, Dave. I had a current road worn strat and sold it. I loved the feel of the lacquer and neck was good (not great) but I stupidly couldn’t get past the pau ferro fretboard. It’s fine as a fretboard, but it’s so light, it killed the look of trying to look like an old guitar. Every time I looked at it, I just thought “that’s not right.”
If you ever get your hands on a Vintera 60s, please do a post about it. I thought this might be a video about a Vintera Roadworn. Still very happy I came here for the intro jam.
Would love a tutorial on how to relic a sunburst nitro finish like the Frusciante one! I know you got a video about nitro relics but a sunburst one would be fucking great!
I picked a road worn strat in 2013 manufactured around 2010 or 2011. Bought it for about 600 and change from a local shop and I feel like it's being wasted in my hands, but it's a brilliant instrument and I could never dare part with it, so I've been doing my best to "operate" it. It's a journey and a half, but watching you play always fires me up to make my fingers bleed. Rock on Mr Dave! Edit: My 80W Marshall is on it's way out, if anyone has any good recommendations for a new amp I would love some input :)
Dave, any chance on a tinkering vid with the Afterneath pedal..... I am in the weeds with mine because its quite a complex pedal but so good, especially with distortion before it
Killer playing. I love my road worn 60’s strat. It may Mexican made, but it’s as close as I’ll get to real 60’s strat. I upgraded the pickups and sounds great.
Cool video! Have a 2007 Road Worn strat ...mine came with tex mex pickups and i love it. after so many years still one of my favorite strat ;) the relic on newer rw's look a bit generic i think...
I think its because of watching you so much over the last year is why I want to get a strat all of a sudden . Have you played the new player plus strats? They are fantastic ! That'll be the one I get just can't decide on weather to go classic or HSS lol. Cheers mate!
I had a 2012 Olympic white 60s roadworn and sold it as it had a dead sound ( acoustically and plugged in) I changed the pick ups. Put a brass trem block in and installed usa vintage saddles and it made absolutely no difference, and it still sounded dead. But!!! New ones are great! The 60s lake placid blue Feels better sound so much better acoustic and plugged in. Not changed anything. Plays better to. Maybe I had a dog in 2012. But the new ones are great. Personally I think they've improved them. If you didn't gel with the old ones then give the new ones a shot!
I prefer the les Paul gold top for sound. But Dave makes all guitars sing the blues like peter green Rory Gallagher and Hendrix. With a touch of Jimmy Page and the ever underrated Jeff Beck. All roles into one. Just an amazing quality guitarist . Keep on rocking and rolling Dave Simpson. The man the myth and living legend.
Dave, You could nail 6 strings to any old bit of wood and make it sound awesome 😎👍 God only knows what your grouped fingers where doing up by the headstock in that video it was to fast for me to work out but it sounded fantastic mate 😎👍
OMG!!! What did i just watch???? That intro was SICK!!! Unreal, Dave!!!
On fire!!!! SRV has a massive smile on his face after that, thanks to you Dave. Awesome playing.
My words exactly🔥🎸🔥🎶🔥
Now that's how that guitar was meant to be played, not gonna compare that to any other player other than to say, THAT IS DAVE'S PLAYING!!!

Nice one pal!
I’m going to say a prayer tonight, that people such as you never disappear from this earth. You are the man Dave!
I have a 2017 Roadworn 50's Strat and it'a one of the nicest guitars I've ever played.
i keep coming back to this. it's probably one of my favorite videos on youtube. love it dave, keep it up
I could honestly sit and listen to you jamming and messing around on a Strat all day. The range of styles you go through is really entertaining.
Just when I was getting really cheesed off with all the tat on TH-cam today along comes this absolute gem from yours truly. Think I will have to put in on loop until I go to bed later. Thanks Dave :-) .
Hello Mr. North! Glad to see Mr. Dave's lifted your spirits!
Brilliant playing...ode to Rory and Johnny Winter...throw in a bit of Alvin Lee....you need to take this to Chicago and jam with Buddy Guy my friend.....you're truly a blues rock master...
You nailed it with this comment Greg Mock!
You play so incredibly well that you are enraptured. When you play your calm melodies and let the stratocaster speak to my soul, I float away. I know you say SRV has never really been an influence, I definitely think he's crept into you playing along the way!! 🔥🔥🔥
Your playing makes me happy. Thanks, Dave.
Great jqm today dave...the energy ...I felt the vibe/mojo from here in New England
Listening to you hop across so many styles with such mastery was awe-inspiring. But, I have to admit, your blues stuff speaks to me the most. I could listen to that all day, every day. Thank you for doing what you do.
Been with you for yrs and never miss a video. That my friend has to be one of the best if not the best that I have seen and heard. Absolutely amazing!
Just seen this and that was superb Dave! Love your playing man.
I had a Road Worn about 10-12 years ago in white that I scored used with a case for $450. I regret ever getting rid of it after seeing the prices on the new and used markets.
amazing playing dave! i wish i had that skill and that guitar.
Dave has no idea how much his humble style and gift of music blesses people around the world.
Thank you from Wisconsin, USA. 🎸
that smile at just over 4 minutes-PRICELESS sums up Dave in top form enjoying what he does best
I have said it many times, but I must say it again. Your sound is the best on TH-cam, congratulations!
Dave bringing some old school rock and roll!! Fantastic!!
My dream is a goldtop..even jst a cheap one like a firefly.or a 10s. Hey, Mr. Taft. How's everything going, friend?
@@kevinhill6079 not too bad realy. You ??
Dave I’ve just bought one. Got a bargain on a used Anderton’s Ltd edition FSR 60’s. I must say after a set up & new strings I’m REALLY impressed.
You're an amazing player mate! Rock on! Continued success in your future endeavors!!
Wow thanks SRV that's the best Dave Simmo impression I've seen, great stuff. ✌😁
How can this guy not be listed among the worlds greatest he’s gotta be up there with the best .glyner.
Loving the nods to the greats, awesome job as always my friend 🤙🎸
You and this guitar are a match made in heaven....
I'm a Luthier, i'm working while listening to your awesome playing, congrats! You are a awesome guitar player!
weird to see you playing the body of my old guitar, fair to say you have made me regret selling it even more but its living a good life! Good stuff Dave!
Great trip down memory lane for the road worn and you Dave!🙂
I never was a huge SRV fan, but this sounded brilliant. Really a joy to listen.
Punishing the pickup switch like there's no tomorrow. Now I feel like I'm being too soft to my Strat, haha! Great playing, man. Subscribed, you need 1/2 mil subscribers.
Great tone and killer playing! The Orange amps have a fizziness to them that really complements strats. I think I want one.
I own a new 2021 lake placid blue road worn telecaster, fantastic guitar and is now my #1
wow Dave im stunned in a good way bravo , killer sound as well .
Great playing Dave
Perfect Dave thanks , and that guitar fits you
...that one hit me right between the eyes and knocked me out...
Great jam and nice guitar! So the additional relicing on the body came from normal wear and tear? Whoa, that is awesome!
Hi Dave. Wow! If that guitar is not set-up how you like then u might consider setting your guitar like that one cos l’ve not seen you so inspired since the classic “unboxing the red bullet strat” l love all your posts, man. Take it easy x
Omg Dave sounds terrific 👍🎸🎶🙌

A Massive Thanks (as always) :)
Also, I love watching you play.
Dave you are fun to watch man Stevie Ray Vaughan is looking down at you and smiling right now
Bloody hell, that was some tasty playing 🎸🔥
Excellent playing and tone 👍🎸 best to you man!
Fantastic playing Dave! 🤘🏼
then after you're chat about the guitar you treat us to some amazing guitar playing without backing tracks-amazing is an understatement
Amazing. Simply amazing.
Best part of my day ! Thanks dave!
I have a 2009 Olympic White RW and I love it. That guitar was my first Strat and it changed my life. Now, I need its sunburst rosewood board sister. Yes, I'm a greedy American. 😂

Yo Dave can you make a video on how to get a SRV tone like the one in the introvwith the katana? The intro was fire as always!
I have one from 2009. Same sunburst. Previous owner put CS69 pups in it. I'm going to replace the nut with a bone one and the block with a Callahan. Very, very nice guitar! Soooo sweet!
Lovely playing. The Strat is monster great. The wall-hanging reminds me of Thor Heyerdahl's Ra expedition for some reason.
lol… that intro was an awesome intro to listen too first thing in the morning ☕️👌🏽

The SRV style behind the back was awesome. I knew you would be into him haha
Would love a tutorial on how to relic a sunburst nitro finish like the Frusciante one! I know you got a video about nitro relics but a sunburst one would be fucking great!
amazing playing as always dave. bought one of these in 2020, if i could only have one guitar, it would definitely be the one to stay.
SRV reincarnated or what. That intro jam was hot 🔥. That playing should be on the stage at RAH my friend

Great playing Dave!
Any news on the CD or Vinyl release?
Cheers. 😊😎🎸
Dave, any chance on a tinkering vid with the Afterneath pedal.....
I am in the weeds with mine because its quite a complex pedal but so good, especially with distortion before it
Oooh! 2009 eh? Those are some of the best years for the RW series IMO. I also had an '08 and also sold it to fund other things.
Sounds good, what pickups are in it?. The White Tokai needs an outing.
And that is why I still own my 2008 hot rodded Olympic white RW (callaham block, Cs pickups) ... Although I can't play it with as much talent as you.
I'm sure you make it sound awesome. :)
the day is come ,dave discovered Srv for himself.Friends .we can expect great jams :D
Did I detect some 'in between' sounds Dave ? ;)
Cool video! I traded my 2015 les Paul standard for a 2012 RW Strat and a good few pedals. I love it to pieces and use it for my videos
I think its because of watching you so much over the last year is why I want to get a strat all of a sudden . Have you played the new player plus strats? They are fantastic ! That'll be the one I get just can't decide on weather to go classic or HSS lol. Cheers mate!
