    This clip leaves out the best part where Monk stands in front of the astronaut's moving airplane and he didn't flinch and the astronaut had to acknowledge that.

    This episode is perfect and one of my favorites by far. Although Monk is regarded as a highly efficient detective by many at this point in the series, he was still looked down upon due to his many fears and quirks. His pessimistic outlook also didn’t help, so when met with an honorable, unstoppable force like Wagner, it scares him because it makes him look at what he thinks he isn’t - a man everyone respects and looks up to. Monk’s talk with Dr. Kroger in this episode makes me especially emotional. Its one of the many moments where Monk’s truly vulnerable, saying when he looks at a man like Steve Wagner, he feels weak. It isn’t until Dr. Kroger reveals what Wagner is truly afraid of that Monk finds it within himself to confront Wagner head on and eventually give Wagner what’s coming to him. Monk is a strong man when push comes to shove, and it episodes like this that make me truly appreciate the series as a whole.

      Side note: This clip of Stottlemeyer also shows that he can identify things that don’t add up as well! Usually people think Monk is the one doing the work of an entire department, but the case also couldn’t have progressed if it weren’t for Stottlemeyer noticing the little details that don’t add up. Nice to see him have a redemption arc after and episode like Mr. Monk and the Old Man

    One of my favorite episodes and because it shows that despite his many phobias Monk is truly a brave and noble man who refused to allowed killers no matter how powerful or connected they are go unpunished. Monk never gives up and never stop fighting.

    I remember in one of the Monk books, they inverted the standard plot. There's a violent death that looks like an obvious murder and Monk is all "nope, it's a suicide." LOL

    i love how monk stands his ground against the very smug astronaut, leland " if you hurt my buddy I'll hurt you" as they arrest the astronaut .

    Hollwood actor murderers always leave just enough clues to get caught, but forgetting to wear rubber gloves seems like an exceptionally rooky mistake for such a complex plot.

    8:14 - now I noticed it: he had to drill holes in her room for that device to work - wouldn't police notice these during the examination of the crime scene? Or did he just assume they'll go into the "suicide" path and never check them?

    • @Riehentar
      @Riehentar 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      her body was moved to another room, if the holes were still there the cops could have assumed it was just some random holes that maybe had nothing to do with the 'suicide'. also the killer could have painted over the holes, its not enough paint for there to be a lingering smell, and they are small so they could have been easily missed even by cops. also, its a show - the writers could have missed it or weren't thinking about it

    He is definitely guilty… of inventing a horrible martini! 🍸 Olive, onion, and cherry in a blue martini should be a crime.

    i wouldn't say smartest, he is maybe on par with the teacher and Stottlemeyer's girlfriend, setting up a alibi for the time of the murder. I think the chess master's plan was better as he got the victim to actually kill herself and he then bested Monk twice

    I love how these villains are like telling Monk to his face that they’re going to get away with it.
    According to this show, Monk has solved dozens of cases harder than yours. You should be sweating bullets. Moron.
    Also, dumbass, whether somebody flinches or not is not going to prevent them from gathering evidence to convict you. It’s a criminal investigation, not a game of chicken.
    Really sets my teeth on edge. Great acting.
