Lee Marvin, served in the USMC in WW2, Jimmy Stewart was a bomber pilot in the USAAF and saw plenty of action, Lee Van Cleef was in the US Navy...I wonder how they felt working along side a draught dodger like Wayne?
@@peterevans8194 Wayne was not a draft dodger. Are you lying or merely uninformed. He tried to enlist but was rejected for service as 4F. There are those who say John Ford used influence to have him so classified. If that is true, Wayne did not know about it. I suspect the classification was genuine because lots of actors enlisted and were assigned non combat roles, even in Hollywood. Reagan was assigned such duty because of his poor eyesight. Stewart spent a fair amount of time making training films before finally getting assigned to flight training.
@@peterevans8194 I wonder how you feel being either a liar or an idiot. Oh, both Jimmy Stewart and Lee Marvin had a great deal of respect, admiration, and fondness for John Wayne.
what kind of man are you dude? this kind of man dude...they said dude back then? Lee Marvin was fantastic. Kind of interesting though that Western Law that Marvin taught Stewart, and the conflict between "western law, guns, v institutional law is still relevant today. The real honorable man was pilgrim--a man who could bridge that divide... JW. Prob his best role.
A lesser Gracie “dude” was a western slang for foreigners more of an insult. Saying your not a man basically. John Wayne calls him pilgrim same slang meanings foreign from the east not an insult like dude was
one of the best westerns of all time
"So what kind of man are you, dude?" Lee Marvin's voice, legendary. Lots of legendary voices in this very legendary movie. All long gone. 😢
0:27 "now, what kind of man are you, dude?"
Lee was an awesome presence in this one. Evil incarnate.
Legendary 🎥 film Mr. Marvin is fabulous! He beats and whips the Shit out of Stewart! A lovable bad man mad man! A legendary actor!
Wayne was Wayne. Stewart was Stewart. Lee Marvin played on of the best bad guys ever. Even though he was a nice guy and war hero.
Next to Gary Oldman

So THAT'S where the Duke said "Pilgrim".
Ransom Stoddard was a good man, but I will say most politicians and lawyers of today definitely deserve this treatment.
Great film

@@lxCRON1Cxl Thanks, dude.
@@lxCRON1Cxl both are synonymous with "city-slicker" after the rain garments they wore.
@@lxCRON1Cxl "Dude" meant a greenhorn, someone who was a novice to the West. Ever hear of the term, "Dude Ranch"?
Liberty had a cruel homoerotic streak 😍
Few films highlighted systematic and pervasive racism more than this one.
This movie is amazing , stop thinking about Pompy , nobody treated him wrong , he chose to act like a servant 💯
Just like every single other civilization in history then.
boil lots of water!
