Shankar Nag ( Director: Malgudi Days) was only 36years of age when he died in a car accident. He had already made 100 movies as an actor, 7 movies as director, Malgudi Days series and Many popular Theatre shows - All within 10-12 years of career.

सचमें वो "मालगुडी डेज"इतिहास है दोबारा नही बनाया जा सकता है।स्वामी का किरदार सबसे बेहतरीन था।आज भी वो सीरीज बार बार देखकर भी दिल भरता नही है।दिल जीतने वाले को दिलजीत कहते हैंन, लेकिन जो वक़्त और यादों में जगह बना ले,उसे मालगुडी डेज का स्वामी और सभी किरदार व लेखक कहते हैंन।

Swami was----and still is----one of the best and unforgettable characters on Indian television! Kudos to Manjunath Nayaker for bringing Swami alive. Credit also ought to go to the late brilliant director Shankar Nag
What a genuine guy. I am happy that I had the privilege of watching Malgudi days in my childhood.
If Shankar Nag sir was alive today Indian cinemas and especially Kannada cinemas would have reached greater heights . So unfortunate to lose him in an accident 😭. He was the first director to shoot underwater in India . His movies are way ahead of its time and a must watch !

Shankar Nag was Gem, he could have taken our entertainment industry to another level. If anyone closely watch this serial, one can understand how Shankar Nag was very particular about the dubbing, You can find same voice for many character and it suits perfectly and of course his magical voice too.
Malgudi days was so Pure, I felt this serial.
Yup that's why these gems die early in order to get rid of human sins ! Great people die early like Shankar Nag !

एक किस्सा मेरे जीवन का मालगुडी डेज का..२०१४ में जॉब पे था, चंद्रपुर में। टैक्सेशन का काम था..घर घर जाकर सर्वे करना पड़ता था, चुकी मैं, एक सिविल इंजीनियर हूं। तब एक घर गया था। हाउस owner जो की एक लेडी थी..उनसे से बात हो ही रही थी की ...उनकी नोकिया १३३० पे रिंगटोन बजी। वह थी मालगुडी डेज की। एकदम से बचपन की, मालगुडी डेज की, घर के सब जब एक साथ मालगुडी डेज देखते थे ..सब nostalgic moment याद आए। फिर बाते करने लगे उसी owner से। वह भी fan थी मालगुडी डेज की, उनके घर के सभी क्रेजी थे, सबने novel भी पढ रखी थी। मैने ब्लूटूथ से रिंगटोन शेयर करने की रिक्वेस्ट की, तबसे जो मोबाइल था मेरे पास उसकी रिंगटोन वही रही। बेहद यादें जुड़ी हुई है मालगुडी डेज के साथ...😇😊

My father's mobile ringtone is still a title song of Malgudi Day's. No matter whichever mobile he buy's, he set's the same ringtone. Even I still love the show and remember my childhood days, when I used to enjoy it. Moreover, my 6 yr old son watches Malgudi days episodes repeatedly. At times we 3 generations enjoy it together on the youtube. Such a marvellous and epic serial it is.
Malgudi days one of the best creation for understanding child psychosis, every student must go through it.
Everything about Malgudi Days was unique and numero uno...the ambience, the characters, the locations..... absolutely once in lifetime experience. About Swami,what to say?? If RKN has complimented that this is exactly the Swamy he had in his mind....it sums up everything.

I watched this programme 12-15 years ago on TV and recently watched again on mobile , it's master piece
Everything about this serial was so beautiful, right from the catchy tune on the flute to the simple village life. A very big thanks to the entire team for giving the viewers such a beautiful serial that I still go online and watch it over again. We would watch the serial in the evening and discuss it in school the following day .. Thank you Manjunath and BBC Hindi for bringing back good old memories.

As about Malgudi Days it's a master piece & as Manju said that memory should remain same. You can inspire & make something of this generation but honestly that simplicity won't come now. It's all lost in this fake online world.
