The list of products used: - lip plumpers: LA MER the lip volumizer (expensive) and TOO FACED Lip Injection Maximum Plump (cheap); - lip glosses: MAC lipglas gloss (expensive) and NYX butter gloss (cheap); - lip oils: DIOR lip oil (expensive) and ELF Glow Reviver Lip Oil (cheap).
@@lizzyplayz458 No it's not. The ingredients list for the NYX butter gloss is exactly what's shown in Product A. It is not the same ingredients for the elf clear gloss, and it's also not $6.
I could listen to him all day, so knowledgeable and well-spoken.😊 Moreover, we need that kind of knowledge before buying our products because we need to maximize quality and minimize costs.
This series makes ME want to be a cosmetic chemist! They’re all so knowledgeable and are great at sharing information I love seeing the different personalities of these featured chemists too. Ramón is so fun and informative!
I think the lip oils are Dior Addict Lip Glow (A) & Elf Glow Reviver (B)…ingredients & price points match. I wish they’d just tell us the products outright, instead of making us play detective!😅
I love that I entered a science field as a career and studied some chemistry and I LOVE seeing this video with a scientist who is young and knows all the trends and slang. IDK why it comforts me
I love that they actually changed the packaging for each product. Because for example the Dior lip oil, even if you covered the name the packaging is so known. So love that it’s really a “blind” test.
I was really shocked to find out lip oils are less moisturizing than lipglosses i always thought it was the other way around, i guess im going to stick with my glosses then
What do we think the products are? For the clear glosses: the expensive one is definitely M•A•C Lip Glass and I'm 99% sure the cheap one is NYX Butter Gloss. It's the right price and has the same ingredient list on the website except the polyethylene and sorbitan sesquioleate are in the opposite order.
Generally I find lip gloss makes lips more fuller even without plumping effect due to the shine. Personally I don’t enjoy the tingly feeling on my lips and they don’t normally last long anyway.
Are we gonna ignore that he said Capsicum (the herb that you eat) and not capsaicin (the compound). Then allure literally put the definition of capsaicin with the title capsicum 🤣
It’s literally listed as ‘capsicum resin’ on the ingredient lists that are read at the end of the video. It’s highlighted and everything. If you’re not extracting just the capsaicin it’s still capsicum.
Finally, putting sense back into beauty with science, and informing people that vaseline is perfectly safe in fact it is what you want when you have very dry lips. Finally, out with the bull**** "nontoxic beauty" marketing ruining people's skin.
Seems like it would be a better idea to test the same type of product on the same person. Different people will respond differently to ingredients and things so it'll be a better comparison on the same person. E.g. for the plumping gloss, some people might be more sensitive to capsicum so their lips plump up more but it might not have anything to do with the amount of the ingredient in the product.
how can be a lip gloss be worthy of 90$ ? Even if they use more botanical ingredients (which will make it more expensive but never 33 or 90$ for 5 or 10ml)
it makes him seem like he doesn't know what he's talking about when he says capsicum. there's capsaicin and capsicum resin. nobody is putting just the peppers themselves in cosmetics. like, i understand making a mistake, but catch it in post and rerecord those parts.
With this title, it’s clear that you all have taken feedback and appropriately referred to the expert as a cosmetic chemist 🎉. Please go back and retroactively change the title on the two videos in the price points series/playlist where you mislabeled the professionals as “makeup experts”
Capsicum (or things like “capsicum fruit extract”) is the name for use in cosmetics. That’s why it’s labelled that way in the product ingredients. Google “capsicum cosmetics”
hello ! so i've been thinking about becoming a cosmetic chemist lately, but i heard that they have to works lots to get in the position while they are mostly not paid well. After watching this video, it seemed fun to me, i also would like to be an expert when it comes to what im putting on my skin, but i kinda hate chemistry ! Anyone who could give me some information about this domain??
If you hate chemistry, don’t become a chemist. What you see here is not a representation of what cosmetic chemists do. This video is for entertainment purposes. He’s dumbing everything down for the audience to layman levels. Cosmetic chemists spend most of their time formulating the product. If you don’t like studying the properties and chemistry of different molecules and their interactions, go into another field. Chemistry is an intensive subject and you won’t get through it if you hate the subject. Learning doesn’t happen when you have negative emotions towards the subject
Try as I might, I could not see _ANY_ difference in terms of plumping in B. It just looked like she had clear product on her lips & that she was smiling slightly but fuller?? Nope. None.
The model for b had redder looking lips at the end. I do wish that they used the same model for both glosses though, so that we could directly compare both after photos
He looks like he could be James Charles older brother, and hopefully not dangerous like James, but I swear if I didn’t know better, I would think they could be related
This is so much more interesting than the celebrity one .
Agreeee
Yess we learn more about ingredients which is great
Frrr
More of these please!
Right?! 💯
the way he preferred all of the cheaper lippies really proves that price ≠ quality

Thank you
the fact that too faced is considered cheap, it's about 160 zł here, which is 40$ but sure feels like 160$
The cheap gloss is actually the elf gloss. I have the same clear one and like he said it smells like sweet vanilla. plus its also $6 soo yeah
Too Faced is not drugstore. It’s expensive.
@@lizzyplayz458 No it's not. The ingredients list for the NYX butter gloss is exactly what's shown in Product A. It is not the same ingredients for the elf clear gloss, and it's also not $6.

100%
Plumping glosses are A) La Mer (I think he gave us a hint with the algae) and the second is most likely the lip injection of too faced
same but i think they cant name brands in their video

His lips are so shiny and full that I thought he was wearing the lip plumping gloss already when the video started

YES i hated that
Yeah I thought I was going crazy bc in Australia we call 'bell peppers' 'capsicum' and I know capsaicin is the spiciness in chilli peppers

ok am I stupid or does he mean capsaicin?? capsicum is the genus name of all peppers and also the common name for bell peppers in some countries
The ingredient in the gloss is capsicum extract. Pure capsaicin, even at a low level, would be way too strong for a lip product.
Love this concept

Capsicum is literally red bell pepper in Australia I was so confused wth

Capsicum is the pepper. Capsaicin is the compound.
it's not capsicum, it's capsaicin! Capsicum is the plant species where capsaicin is extracted.
