Kids on Site: Hard Hat Edition is the 216th game the Grumps have beaten! A Sega CD Digital Pictures classic, remastered in 2022 by Screaming Villains! Thanks again for the shoutout, guys!
This actually seems pretty fun! And the actors are into it and trying their best and I did actually laugh at some parts despite being an adult and not born in this game's era haha😂
It's hurting every fiber of my being, knowing this wasn't secretly a scary game because OOOOOOHH my God would that scare the ABSOLUTE shit out of Dan. Especially if they let on to the scary bit till after the 2nd video/tutorial.... I hope I'm telling the future rn but I have such low hopes for myself because the tutorial videos here look good and have non-scary vibes 😭 Edit: but also, they just bopped this guy on the head and he's being semi-bully?
I'm not involved in any form of construction, but I heard from a civil engineer and former mason laborer that this is normal, so I too can confirm this is normal.
It's interesting that Dan brought up Harvester. This game has a similar arc as Harvester, gradually easing the player into more and more violent acts of vandalism and eventually murder.
Considering the year this came out, it seems genuine as far as child education shows were. It makes me think of how goofy Bill Nye the Science guy was back in the 90s
Arin mistaking a children's game for satire is hilarious to me. That's like watching Teletubbies and thinking its an avant garde commentary on global warming
Yes! This! He's so offended when Dan looked it up. Like what do you mean this game is sincere???? Are they even aware of their audience? (he means him and Dan who decided to play this on a whim) Never change, Arin.
Proud of you, Arin, you did a tutorial, even if that tutorial was a 10 second video of a character telling you what all 3 buttons do. This is the character growth we love to see. This is the start of a beautiful 2024.
Whenever Arin said "I think this game was made recently" I half expected Dan to ask "Arin is this a horror game?" and then have this turn into a horror game.
This actually seems pretty fun! And the actors are into it and trying their best and I did actually laugh at some parts despite being an adult and not born in this game's era haha😂
Blast from the past! Can confirm. Was the target audience when this came out in 94 and hooooly moly. Laughed so hard my dad thought I was going to die. As far as the price... It was definitely one of those on the wire racks near the check out at office depot.
I had a giggle fit when they got to the end and were like "Wow there were no kids on site after all huh" since the entire premise of the game is that YOU'RE a kid visiting a construction site
So, my family had a Sega CD, and we had Kids on Site. What Dan and Arin say at the end there? The whole "would you like to play again? It's exactly the same!" Yes. Yes, we did play it again. And again. And again. At that age repetition is not a problem. This was such a nostalgic trip. Every single line and bit of footage just filled me with nostalgia. I am far more familiar with this game than anyone has any right to be. Love that someone decided to rerelease this. Amazing!
the lore that dizzy tragically killed nuts in a construction vehicle accident and the nuts we see here that’s always somehow barely surviving their hijinks is just a figment of dizzy’s imagination
"Accident"? Dizzy us a sociopathic killer, don't act like it wasn't his full purpose. Probably did it because his huge ego was hurt when he realised Nuts was the better guy in everything (especially being a good person)
And with the SteamRoller Dizzy is just getting rid of everything that reminds him of Nuts. Also, Dizzy Said "Thats a big penny" and Neither Dan nor Arin said anything about it
I was obsessed with this kind of stuff as a kid in the 90's. This hits a sweet spot for me. I have TONS of VHS tapes on construction stuff aimed at kids
I now need a 10 min power hour of Arin and Dan going to Diggerland, U.S.A. A construction based theme park in New Jersey, they'd get to be Twuck kid in the best place on earth.
this is one of those games where I hope they can get in contact with some of the cast or crew and have them on for a guest grumps to talk about making this, because I bet there's some good stories.
I like how the character Arin plays, is supposed to be a child. Yet the arm it shows when Arin pushes the "fun button" it's clearly a large, hairy man arm 😂
I just wanna congratulate Arin on finally completing a tutorial and going into a game with a baseline understanding of the games controls and mechanics. This is a big day for the Grumps and I'm so happy for them as creators, as a company, and as a team of friends that love and support one another.
Every day at a construction site starts with a poem about your favorite piece of heavy machinery. Union breaks are spent standing around your mountain of coffee cans and yelling “hooray” over and over. This is practically a documentary
Wow, this reminds me of when my kid (now 13) was a wee little kid. He would love to watch these 2 DVDs, one was on farming equipment and the other on road working equipment. He would watch them like I watch hockey games, totally and 100% enthralled.
The whole game is actually just Nut's layer of purgatory for the money laundering scheme he ran while working at his construction job. That's why he can never die despite all the hijinks Dizzy puts him through.
It's crazy how a couple days after his birthday, Arin's patience skyrocketed to being able to withstand the absolute onslaught of information that this tutorial gave him. I'm so proud of my newly 21 year old grump.
Okay, but a kid would definitely have a blast playing this game, and it looked like a lot of fun filming it. I legitimately laughed at a lot of these jokes
Nuts (Scott McClain) has 16 camera and electric department credits and 9 actor credits, and 4 additional crew credits on IMDB. As well as 1 (shared) Primetime Emmy Award. Bertha (Robin Joss) has 7 acting credits. Dizzy (Larry Grennan) has 3 actor credits. Kids on Site, Kids on Site: Hard Hat Edition, and Stewardess School.
Any time they play a random "kids game" I've never heard of, I feel like the odds are always 50/50 that it's just a silly relic of the past or a disguised horror game.
Oh my God I can't believe you guys are playing this game. When I was a kid I was obsessed with construction vehicles and this was one of the first video games I got for my computer. I spent so much time as a 5 year old kid sitting in the basement playing this game and loving every minute of it. Thank you so very much for the nostalgia. I legit thought I would never see this game again.
Arin was so convinced this was some kind of satire or commentary but no, this is EXACTLY what my extended family would get me for christmas in 1994/95 saying "Your parents tell me you like video games, and this has "kids" in the title. So it must be great!"
Arin: "... then he turns into bilbo with the ring" holy shit, did they finally watch LotR together? i remember Dan brought it up so many times that he'd watch it with him, and then each time Arin's like "Oh, ok. Let's do that" Sounds like he enjoyed it even? 🎉
I love how Arin thought this was a parody game, and just not what the 90s thought normal humor was
This whole game was a prolonged Bulk & Skull skit
Exactly, this is just how 90s combo slapstick and education entertainment was.
This is NOT a parody game, Arin.
For anyone who may be uncultured, Bulk and Skull are the two comedically incompetent "bullies" from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
If I saw the release being 2022 I would have thought the same at first 😂

@@DivineAdversity777Eyyy you're a riot, Monsterking! A real gas! A true geezer!

What an absolute treasure of a game. You can really tell the people who made this had a blast filming.
It feels like a relic of a better time.
This actually seems pretty fun! And the actors are into it and trying their best and I did actually laugh at some parts despite being an adult and not born in this game's era haha😂
@fuzzyotterpaws4395 i was born in 87 and i had this game. It was a fun game as a kid.
There isn't a single sane line of dialogue in this entire game. It's actually impressive.

As long as they are bumpin boys

Don't forget Bertha!
Especially that super-Jersey dude with a beard
23:57 the recording artist, Big Penny
I'm a civil engineer and I can confirm this is completely normal
Former masonry laborer, I too can confirm
Do they sell the steam roller juice?
I'm not involved in any form of construction, but I heard from a civil engineer and former mason laborer that this is normal, so I too can confirm this is normal.
As another civil engineer I can confirm this is why construction projects take so long
I always see the dumper driver wait outside his cab and jump for joy everytime a bucket of soil is emptied into the back.
It's interesting that Dan brought up Harvester. This game has a similar arc as Harvester, gradually easing the player into more and more violent acts of vandalism and eventually murder.
Harvester would be 10x better if NPCs had to constantly scramble out of the way of your weapon as you spun around
Considering the year this came out, it seems genuine as far as child education shows were. It makes me think of how goofy Bill Nye the Science guy was back in the 90s
Dan mistaking Steam achievements for instructions is so cute
25:45 🥺
I was watching this in the background and the notification sound was driving me nuts lmao
I’m convinced Dizzy knows exactly what he’s doing and just enjoys seeing Nuts suffer
The hidden scene is Dizzy in a diner with a coffee slushie, just Kubrick staring into the camera for 5 minutes.
"Were you a twucks kid, a twain kid, or a pwane kid?"... this is twactor kid erasure

I was a twactor kid. Much wespect.

The most impressive thing about this game is how earnest all of the actors are. They’re genuinely giving it their all.
Arin mistaking a children's game for satire is hilarious to me. That's like watching Teletubbies and thinking its an avant garde commentary on global warming
or secret child-brainwashing propaganda by the gays, imagine thinking that lol
Yes! This! He's so offended when Dan looked it up. Like what do you mean this game is sincere???? Are they even aware of their audience? (he means him and Dan who decided to play this on a whim) Never change, Arin.
Arins also the type to see a kids drawing and go "wow, I could draw fucking circles around you, this shit sucks ass".
It isn’t?
In his defense, the hosts names are Deezy Nuts
Man, this carries such a specific energy of the era. If you grew up in the '90s, you know exactly this kind of acting and delivery~
This game is flippin' adorable. I love that instead of just telling you that you did something wrong, they let you cause hilarious accidents!
My favorite scene was in the excavator where everyone just PANICS when you swing the arm over them and Dizzy is just like "haha nice one!"
Proud of you, Arin, you did a tutorial, even if that tutorial was a 10 second video of a character telling you what all 3 buttons do. This is the character growth we love to see. This is the start of a beautiful 2024.
"Bertha, Dizzy, Nuts & The Coffee Break Gang" new law firm name just dropped
"it's a shrine to coffee"
This game made me laugh and smile a lot. Felt like so many games and videos I saw as a little kid. 💜
Whenever Arin said "I think this game was made recently" I half expected Dan to ask "Arin is this a horror game?" and then have this turn into a horror game.
same here lmao, i actually paused the video and googled the game just to make sure
Nuts is in purgatory, Dizzy is a senior demon torturer and the kid is a new hiree learning how to torture Nuts.

I can’t believe Arin didn’t cash in on that joke
this game is unbelievably 90s. only thing missing is the macarena

Thats probably the bonus scene you get for doing stuff in a certain order
This actually seems pretty fun! And the actors are into it and trying their best and I did actually laugh at some parts despite being an adult and not born in this game's era haha😂
If the game came out in '96, they'd have it without a shadow of a fucking doubt
It is a 1994 game. Dan was right. It was just re-released on Steam/PS4
