After a few days in Kolkata, I continued riding North within West Bengal. I made my way towards Siliguri and then onward into the mountains. The breaks were fun, but the ride itself was taxing until I finally made it beyond Siliguri.
As is the case with any other kind of travel, motorcycle journeys also have bad patches. Times when you wonder why on earth you are doing what you are doing. The ride from Durgapur to Kishanganj was one of those phases for me, on this tour.
Editing and uploading content on TH-cam has proven to be difficult to do while on the move through remote parts of the country. Finally finally managed to upload this video. It took more than forever. I've been in Sikkim and other parts of the country where the weather has been really foul. So electricity and a good internet connection have been luxuries that are hard to come by. Editing and uploading stuff will take me a while as long as I'm on the road. Thank you all for waiting. Their I saw that you showed the famous Dada Boudi Biriyani restaurant and dhobi ghat, Barrackpore and I started regretting about not coming and meeting you in person when you came so near to my home.. I have lost the count about the times I watched your videos 😊 you made me recall the time I have done a solo ride (during 1993, lasted over 3 months) all through India, Nepal & the Kingdom of Bhutan. I turned 60 years young this year and getting geared up for the next ride soon. During 2010, done a ride through North Africa during my tenure in Egypt. If the world opens up with it's land borders again, may ride down to Cambodia, crossing all wonderful countries in between 😊 will try connecting you once I pack my bags and ready to hop on the saddle once again.......!! I have been here last year on my motorcycle all way from Mumbai. This place is an hub for so many good colleges is what I have heard. Went to delo park which is famous here in Kalimpong. This place has a good history. Wow memories got refreshed ❤️

Wonderful. You stayed in my native(kishanganj, although I live in Blor now) not sure which hotel it was though :D. Coincidentally I had been on a ride to kalimpong and back in the month of March and relived the entire trip through your vlog.

u should have taken the long and trusted nh34 to siliguri. well, the nh34 is now repaired..and is a dream to ride..and avoids the congestion and missenden of the durgapur panagarh route.

Road Rider's Vlogs Hahaha. The truck drivers were crazy. As were the cyclists, rickshaw guys, dogs, cows and everything else!!
I really really appreciate your vlogs and must say that they are a class apart. That being said, I want to ask you: how do you do these rides in this blazing heat? I did a 700km ride last April and had a heat stroke. Specially with all that gear. Could you elaborate how you keep cool in the heat and traffic.?
Thanks, Varun. The heat is a real challenge. I take breaks often, find shade for the bike and myself. Remaining well hydrated is key also. And I sometimes drench some of my gear with water so that it is cooling instead of being a layer of additional warmth.
