Kamal Haasan has always been in a league of his own. Nobody has delivered blockbusters like him. And no one has seen failures like him (although they turned out to be cult classics later). Indian cinema will remember him as the only person who walked/walks a tight rope balancing both commerce and art. unlike nobody else. He is as big a star in every part of India as he is in Tamil, for setting the box office on fire several times and delivering pathbreaking movies at the same time. He is the only one comparable to any superstars in Indian cinema and as well as any visionary filmmakers.

There was a time when people of India were struggling the whole day with law and order, communal riots , water, electricity, bad roads and after the sad realistic life of a day or week, they did not wanted to see the cinema which again showed them the cruel reality instead they liked their hero to be unrealistically smart, brave, cool and the movie takes them to a fairy land. Not that today people are not struggling but there is a huge population which now lives in a better world. Now they want realism in movies. That just explains the reason why most of these did not clicked then

you wrote comment of what i thought and i even interviewed many people they had so much hard time where they don't want to see reals thing happening in their life, cruel things and s*x in screen. all those people wants is some hero who can single handedly can fight people and gain justice and comedy movies.
That's not true. There are people with a functional brain who always wanted to see realistic stuff back in days. You wouldn't be saying all this nonsense had not been for these western channels which have given you your advanced taste in movies

You must do a watch-along with Steph for 'Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa'. It's a very early SRK film from his pre-superstar days. Steph would love it. And it has a great ensemble cast of Naseer and other very good actors. It's from the same director as 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro' - JBDY is the best film in this gorgeous list of 8.
Jane bhi do yaro is arguably one the best film ever made , its a timeless classic
But it's not for foreigners, they won't get it. For example, you have to know the story of Mahabharata in the first place to understand the satire.

To the list of 2 superhero films I'd add "maaveeran", another grounded and offbeat exploration of the concept of a hero, rooted in the local ethos. An understated story, with focused stakes, a brilliantly original voice and a heck of a fun watch. Do check it out.

Note: Abhay never fails to make a mark in any movie irrespective of its script, storytelling, budget, casting or box office outcome, my all time favorite, and also a very sassy & enigmatic personality behind the screen.

Jaane Bhi Do Yaar is outstanding...i re-watched it recently and still had a wild time with it. Of course, there are some things that are a bit dated and some cultural references but i think you will still enjoy it...
Can tell one movie of Kamal Hassan which was a great movie, with great acting from its lead stars buy still bombed at box office " Namavar " where plays a college professor role. Not giving out spoilers.

Wrong. Funniest Hindi film ever made is Hera Pheri (and perhaps funniest Indian film). I know it's a remake of the Malayalam original Ramoji Rao Speaking, but the remake is funnier & I can fight anyone on this

Manorama Six feet under & Shanghai two political thrillers are my favourite Abhey deol movies. Both I have watched it more than 5 times & can watch it again will never feel bored.
Hey Ram was a super duepr flop, post 1st day there wasnt any one in the theatre. My opinion is that in many places we couldnt hear the dialogues because of lack of sound. Plus it is a complicated screen play for a commoner. But definitely sound played a major issue.

During last 10 years, Kiss scenes became very common in movies and Web Series in India. Even in reality, I always spot couples having romance openly at public places whenever I go to hang out, there is no restrictions on them and no legal action is taken against those couples.

Films doesn't work in theatre due to money marketing etc. but if that film also doesn't work on tv for free that film is disaster and which film has the highest TV Reruns are known as cult classic

That was a sh!t list. There are far more better movies to be considered as a "Cult". More than half of the mentioned movies in this video can just be considered a good movie, nothing more than that. "Cult" is a very big word but people like him have made this word a joke.

There are greatest performances of Megastar chiranjeevi like Shubhaleka , Apadhbandhavudu , Rudraveena, swayam krushi which are classics but you never react

They ignore Telugu content as a rule. And even when they do, they are mostly lame videos.
As for the movies you mentioned, there is a sequence in Apadbhandhavudu, where Chiru emotes pathos looking into a mirror, talking to himself.....those nuances made K. Vishwanath proud and proclaim him better than Kamal hassan. Even Mohan Lal and Kamal fans cannot belittle that act. Too bad our hero took a different...more commercial path then on.
