I love Katrina. She's on my list of top female vocalists. Two more amazing voices you might want to check out for analysis are Marc Martel. Known for his vocal resemblance to Freddie Mercury, fronted a few tribute bands including Roger Taylor's official tribute band, now fronting his own tribute band and also doing the vocals in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie. He also does other covers and his own music. But he does a stunning performance of I Will Always Love You (Whitney version - home studio version, not rooftop). And Faouzia. She is Canadian, born in Morocco and has the Arabian influence in her vocal technique. She writes most of her own songs,but also does a stunning job of Desert Rose (Sting) in English/Arabic and her own You Don't Even Know Me (stripped) is crazy.

That Wish Bus was in 2017…and think she was intent on not screwing up for the whole world to see/hear her for the first time. Isang Himila with the Firdaus Orchestra live if you want to see how much connection this woman has especially in her native tongue. Think singing in your own language takes a certain pressure off all the components one has to control in English. She sings Beyoncé’s Listen in Spanish if you really want to be impressed with connection in a different language…”Oye” is a studio session, but OMG…😮

I understand. I do think she was always connected, but maybe she was better at showing that connection as time went on. If you’re talking about her performance of “go the distance” on the bus, then that was a few years before this one anyway.
*Right off the bat can tell you already watched the video so this is not a real "reaction" but just reviewing what you already saw, like Marvin's name being mentioned since its only in the credits. To say she had to prep for it & how many times she needed to do the big note shows you know nuts. Powerhouse Katrina can do it on the fly anytime anywhere. Get that straight!*

her Wish Bus performance of Go the Distance was her very first on the bus so she might be nervous or overly conscious at that time that's why you probably commented that there was a disconnect between the song and her emotions, which is totally ok because that is the purpose of reactions, to give commentaries based on yoir observation.

The one on Wish Bus was about 8 or 9 years ago. That is showing her sustainability from then & now. She has so much in her tank that will make her manage hours of singing and stay unscathed. Don't worry Doc, you got it right. Kat is precision personified and a belter extraordinaire. However, she doesn't make one feel the way Mori and Gigi makes one feel. Sometimes, but not always.

That's subjective, just because she doesn't make you feel the way mori and gigi doesn't apply to everyone in general.
Fondness and feelings are always erroneous. It’s not a gauge for assessing a wholesome talent.
People feel differently. I feel more from her a lot of the time than I do Morisette.
Katrina will never be enough for some of you people. For years, you guys were saying, you prefer Morissette because Morissette has a rounder voice, now Katrina has warmed up her voice and gotten round her overtime, and I see a recent complaint that she doesn’t have as bright of a voice as Gigi. And then added to the people saying that she doesn’t make them feel… Y’all are just scared that she’s going to catch up or even surpass your favorites. It is pathetic.
