Within the realm of physics as we know it, nothing travel faster than light. Do the astronomers who took this photo know how old this image is compare to our present time? It has to be thousands if not millions of years before 2020.
You dare to tell us you really aren't able to understand these few English words? I normally feel with poor illiterate people from undeveloped countries. But this is really your personal shame you offer to us. Sounds like a partial collapse to me. Supernova happen by first collapsing and then bouncing. We've seen with Eta Carina, that stars can almost explode but not quite go supernova yet. This 36 percent collapse is obviously not quite as spectacular as what happened with Eta Carina back in the mid 1800s.
"Will not happen anytime soon"? But that's not what the video shows, is it. And that's not what we observe when we gaze at the shoulder of Orion and stare 551 years back into time at the flickering of former Betelgeuse. "Considering alternative explanations". Cognitive dissonance is like a transistor; if the (emotional) resistance is too high - the light bulb does not shine - no Eureka.
All these images are nearly 642 years old...so status of 2020 would know in year *2662* . May be then humans starts living on Saturn and Jupiter moons which will have us more clear image. I am said I will die long before that.

WOW! Thank You for bringing this to us.
Oh man I'm so gonna binge everything on this channel once I'm done with my work week.
Astounding!
Thanks for sharing ESO
i had to turn the volume down to 1 percent on both youtube and system meters.
I turned it up because I love this song. I like almost all songs that ESOcast use.

Unfortunately I don't. It was a very unpleasant noise. Nothing else.
I ask myself if it is really necessary to make such nasty loud 'music' with such a video. It was awful.
can someone explain me why those telescope are sending laser lights into space?
Look up "adaptive optics", especially discussions on "artificial guide stars". It's a method to correct for image blur due to atmospheric turbulence.

any chance for you yo learn English ?
🤓 All the latest images are about 642 years old 🙄
Better than 643 years old
700*
@@CRISMATIC738 betelgeuse is 642 light years away, not 700

Полина спасибо !
Looks like it's dimming backwards.
Adoro estes vídeos de estrelas e as informações que nos transmitem, nomeadamente a luz da estrela ser tão fraca?!! Mais um enigma a desvendar!!

After supernova, what next ? Black hole or just emptyness. ? Here lived a star calles betelgeuse, ?

I wonder why Nasa don't present real images like this European observatory, Everything americans show us is enhanced images & cgi's
