As an International speedrunner, i do think that the team has fallen behind compare to new dps's QoL, but it's still impressive how long Childe stayed relevant in the game (for fucksake hoyo it's been 4 years, give us Childe's new team).
@@sudiptaday7875she fell off so hard ,I have her with her signature from the first banner - I went from duo running her and nahida with proto amber in abyss 12 from 3.1 to 3.7 to basically benching her from the start of Fontaine - exactly the same situation as with my ayaka premium team with shenhe c1r2 and ayaya with mist splitter that basically got benched from the 3.1.- 3.2 . It's not that these teams are bad (well yeah - often enough they are outright bad)it's just new teams are better ,that's gacha life cycle for ya🤷

Lol Nilou did not fall off they just changed how to position the enemies inside the abyss, this really matters for her because her blooms is hte source of damage and there is no room for grouper since we don't have that for dendro or hydro, however that is surely going to come . Couple of reasons why Hoyo would not want to outdate that team, it's basically only scales out of HP which is a beginner friendly stat to go for.
@@mickysaif No ayaka needs steep investment to be worth getting, Venti is not usable in floor 12 for 9/10 times they do deserve the spot as character that fell off. Especially since Venti is an archon, and not even close to be on par with any of the other archons compare Nahida to Venti, or Furina to Venti, and it's not in the same category

Ngl I felt that dendro mc one. The moment I got Nahida Kirara and Baizu i never looked back sense. Also I agree with the fact that childes international team does prefer your xiangling at high cons and also the fact childe needs a weapon with actual passive.
To me Venti got actually better with Theatre; i dont pull, level up and build many characters so i end up playing under-leveled scuffed comps and his grouping helps a lot for the non-boss rooms. Especially this rotation that has cryo and freeze as main focus 💀
Those characters didn't get worse over time, they just stayed the same, and most people couldn't be bothered to play them when there's a newer and more exciting option. This exact thing even has an established name - it's called a shiny new toy syndrome, although in my opinion it's mostly just laziness and poor resource management.
I understand your point besides the "poor resource management". Wouldn't building new characters drain your resources even more? Or did you mean in regards to artifacts?
@@Ninvisibl3 No, I meant quite the opposite - building a bunch of newer characters to replace the older ones is what I called wasteful. I’d rather commit to upgrading their artifacts to catch up to the newer better carries than outright replace them and never get any value from all the resources that went into building them.

And stop coping saying people are lazy to learn complex character. HuTao are harder by miles than Nilou but she still top meta and lots of people still use her. HuTao have high DPS potential so mastering her rewards people with top tier main DPS, that is until Arle that have same DPS potential but easier to use.
Nilou is fire, I do not have her or Nahida. International speedrunners with 400 subs make childe look like the goat. You are right Beidou was never good. The only time Ive used her recently is with Arle, Chev and Fischl to have bennett kazuha on other side. I have a cracked Tignahri but use him with DMC and it feels like Ive never spent a primogem when I use the team. Morgana LMFAO. Somehow all of the best Ayaka clears Ive seen use Bennett unlucky Venti is either the goat or perma benched for months, quite polarizing. As C2R1 Ayaka main yeah. She defiantly needs lots of investments. You need to really committed for her. Right now I'm thinking C4 and Shenhe C1. Nevertheless she's my waifu and I don't have regrets investing in her. But if you are f2p and considering her for abyss as C0 with f2p investment I'll not recommend her unless you are committed investing her like getting Shenhe, Mistsplitter, Constellations as such.
@@shironasama0445 Shenhe C2 is okay but not that deal breaking since Ayaka isn't like Ganyu as Ayaka can work with 12s burst time window and 15% crit dmg is meh. And as per Kazuha C2 it's good too unless if you have xiphoes then his C2 is useless as since you over capping on EM at that point. Also EM doesn't do shit in freeze teams. For other rection teams like Childe international Kazuha C2 is sick but on freeze teams not so much. That's why I gone for Ayaka C2 cause it gives her burst bigger AoE and some bosses with big hit boxes like ASIMON it's very useful. And since I'm going for Ayaka C4 in future C2 was the stopping point when she rerun in 4.3.
I have a C1 Ayaka and a R1 Mistsplitter, I do prefer Amenoma on her instead with 2 piece BS and 2 piece +18% ATK for a melt/flex build that can be slotted into a freeze team. Currently I either run C2 Kazuha C6 Xiangling/C5 Mona C1 Ayaka C6 Bennett or C2 Kazuha C2 Furina C1 Ayaka C6 Charlotte. The 1st 2 teams work greatly against bosses, the last team is just easier freeze than fumbling around with C0 Kokomi and her jellyfish, and yes, I have a C0 Shenhe as well.

Her other alternative will be mono cryo where Shenhe will really shines there. Also in mono cryo BS artifact is still viable option on that team on bosses unless if the boss is elemental being. And also some people use bennet to buff Ayaka making her as hyper-carry that's an option too. Also why aren't you playing on amenoma? Do you face ER issue when you put mistsplitter? P.S: If you interested playing melt go for Wriothesley. He's consistent on melt teams then Ayaka imo.
Even back when freeze was good, she was hardly good without premium team mates. I got her during her eternal banner when I didn't have any of her premium teammates. When I got Kazuha in 2.8, dendro came and I never went back to build her.

Xiangling already falling off even without news pyro sub dps in the game. She is worse than news sub dps standards, when Xingqui is still there They still release news hydro sub dps even if Xingqui is better than Xiangling and better than a lot if sub dps in the game. I don't understand why pyro is so different.
On Field = Mavuika Off Field = Flex Off Field = Xiangling (because of some passive that Mavuika will have, that benefits from other pyro applicators) Support = Bennett
I strongly disagree with Nilou being grouped with every other character here, like all units even childe have had massive fall offs from meta while Nilou due to abysses getting more AoE focus has only gained popularity. She is still one of the best AoE teams in the game only consistently losing to Neuvillete but like if the reason she fell off is she is worse than Neuv then every character fell off because nobody is good as him. In my own account both my Nilou teams and Neuvillete teams cleared this side 2 Abyss with a difference of 3 seconds so I wouldn't say Nilou fell off (Also both teams are somewhat equally invested but I do think the Nilou team edges out a little bit due to the dragon sovereign being stuck on a R5 prototype amber).
She’s at the bottom of the list for a reason just that compared to the uncontested aoe powerhouse she used be quite a few characters are able to perfectly similarly/better while being more accessible. Still great but no longer broken.
if there is an onfielder that wants a frontloaded dmg% buff over a short dps window (essentially having your dps window being a nuke showcase), mona would synergise better with them than furina. furina has a ramping dmg buff, she doesn't synergise well with frontload.
@@_zzeero Only marginally...and even at that it's just better to get Furina constellations before getting Sigewinne. So, it's basically only after you get everything else is it worth getting Sigewinne...and that's still only for a marginal increase because her buff only owrks off field...and Furina gets on field time at C6...
to be honest i just gave my mona r5 prototype amber and a saturated er noblesse set. she’s basically a burst spam healer on most of my teams and i use her all the time since her buffs are pretty nice, her healing is consistent, she has no energy issues, she takes up very little field time, her hydro app is usually synergistic, and you aren’t tied to circle impact, hence she’s surprisingly pretty comfortable to use, especially in freeze or vape. im not trying to defend her btw, she’s a really washed up unit by default. but you still have the option to recycle some of her weak points and give her an alternative role that she actually does preform well on. its kinda sad you have to literally manufacture half of her kit for it, but it works.
@@philkersonchong9848 (sorry for the long response) eh not really. maybe id struggle with lower refinements but tbh i literally fight azhdaha or raiden shogun using only pa mona as my defensive option and proceed with even a higher survivability sometimes because the prototype amber passive heals even the off field party members without needing to swap, and it heals in ticks. though in all fairness, almost every team i use has a very quick swap based playstyle + ive been using mona for a while and got used to team rotations that include her. and as for freeze, half of the mobs are unfreezable at this point so i treat my freeze team as more of a mono cryo team with kazuha, where the option to freeze the enemy is a nice bonus. mona in the team still provides decent buffs and her being hydro doesnt interfere with your cryo application, so you dont have many reasons ro replace her apart from maybe needing a cryo battery or a more defensive alternative like kokomi.
@@jetkirby3981 i dont have nilou but i can’t imagine using skill three times and dipping is hard, tbh we should stop downplaying simple units just because there’s an even easier alternative out there. they may be clunky on field but neither of them are designed for on field use anyways so its kinda counterproductive and nitpicky on your ability to just play the game. most players got used to xiangling so i dont think using mona or nilou should suddenly be out of our ability to manage smooth rotations
@@philkersonchong9848 for me it depends who im pairing mona with. if its fast paced units like hu tao or yanfei then i honestly just brute force everything and dont care because none of the mobs, including all of the weekly bosses, have enough time to respond. if its a unit like ganyu, i might get skeptical because standing in place and waiting is sometimes an issue even for competent healers
Tbh those other teams just felt scuffed fast app is nice but it's only for a limited duration. Burgeon childe with Kazuha and Bennett is a pretty solid team though.
i mean it's probably why she's only number 8. but it really doesn't feel like nilou fell off. just that she like, stayed in the same spot. still one of my favourite teams to run. i actually like that she has limited teammates because it makes the builds more interesting imo. i do hope we get new teammates for her tho. literally nobody has been talking about emilie so i have no idea what her kit does and if she'll work with nilou.

Ngl I would even go even further with Mona and say shes maybe the Worst 5* in the Game YES worse then Qiqi, because Qiqi at least has an ok Synergy with Furina and she has that one Meme Team with Clorinde. Na, Mona's still way better than bad on field carries like Yoimiya. You can create a Mona comp that's not even that bad, she's still buffing and generally making whatever carry you're running stronger. She's also still way better than whatever the hell Sigewine is trying to do. Mona is a competent buffer. She's rarely the best character to slot onto a team, but she's at least an option on a lot of teams. Qiqi on the other hand is a meme even on her best suited Furina teams as she tends to struggle to get the energy to even ult unless you're running multiple cryo units. She also got powercrept hard by Charlotte who's just Qiqi without all the weird caveats. Also there may be a character with a single huge nuke who can't really fit Furina into most of her teams, likes hydro resonance and doesn't like hydro application coming next patch. Mona is getting a teammate who at least makes sense with her and she should probably be a consideration on Mualani teams in general.
Venti may be no longer the cheat code he once was but he stil good with wanderer and he's also great in the theater so he didn't fall off that hard. No, I'm not coping.
He definitely fell off hard, but that's mostly because of how meta he was considered before, not because he is such a terrible unit now. But his usecases have dramatically lowered and become way more niche. If someone wants to pull him they have to be aware that he will only be used in certain situations and doesn't necessarily have the same wide synergy with all teams Kazuha does. Though I think it kinda goes both ways because the casual populous now acts as if Venti is literally unusable in Abyss, which really isn't true either
I think the issue with critiquing Nilou like this is you open gaps for other teams that just aren’t “Neuv level of good”. When using Nilou with talent damage comps she retains the power level of “pretty heckin good but not as good as *insert* top tier here”, so by your logic, hu tao alhaithem clorinde navia xiao wanderer etc etc fell off cause their not arle or Neuv. (And they all use Furina lol) You phrased it like Nilou’s teammates can be used somewhere better, but since you didn’t elaborate on that, let me just say the only real “superior” teams someone like Furina or Yelan could be on would be alre and Neuv lol. In other words I feel like you just wanted to say Nilou fell off lol.
As a player who started Genshin right before Fontaine it's wild how much the game has changed. I was looking forward to picking up so many of the characters on this list in my first year- so many content creators still putting out glowing reviews on rerun banners. Sumeru/Hyperbloom powercrept so many old teams and then Furina and the Hypercarries in Fontaine left the classics in the dust. Kazuha and Yelan (and eventually Zhongli) are the only characters pre-Nahida I've ended up pulling into my roster. Guess I'm even more excited to move into Natalan with a stockpile of Primos assuming the trend continues.
beidou EC taser is still the best team in the game relative to the amount of investment needed imo. EC maintaining both hydro and electro aura makes sucrose 700+ em swirls do double the damage and the team synergy is one of if not the best in the game. i think she’s one of the best 4 stars, easily in the xingqiu/bennett tier and has potential to do massive damage if played right so idk how she has “fallen” off when she’s still good and every account has access to her.

Ayaka doesn’t suck only freeze and that’s what ayaka is locked into. Technically ganyu should be better because she can do melt with no icd on her CA (where the majority of her dmg comes from) and as already said burn has made her great. Emilie might actually make her niche in wrio/ganyu melt teams. Ayaka is very high investment.
Nowdays id assume Jean replaced Mona as the best standart character Shes a Teamwide healer in the age of Furina meta that can also run vv As someone who attempts to clear almost every abyss at least once with my girl Ganyu i can say though for when you can use freeze furina and charlotte did help her alot in my experience making her freeze teams much more comfortable and enjoyable to play compared to mona variants when i just played melt due to how cringe freeze was with her sometimes back in the day
I remember being shocked at how fast my nilou team would clear floor 11 back then. It cleared the one with 2 ruin guards in like seconds, but those enemies r like not that hard AHAH
@@lancehalzenit also depends on your roster like if you have lot of good dendro and hydro units that are not used in another abyss team, she's strong but she has become somewhat situational like ayaka due to abyss being cringe and for f2p investment it's hard to clear against bosses and stuff
Melt/Flex Ayaka is still a thing, but you have to know the patterns. Though I learned quickly that freeze is meh and that Blizzard Strayer is kind of a mid set.
Good analysis, as always Flip. :) I would add nothing for Abyss teams, but for open world/exploration I would add this: the open world is generally pretty forgiving and you can pretty much play who you like. What makes a character desirable in the Abyss v. open world is very different. So... 1) Teams like Freeze - especially with a grouper like Kazuha - are perfectly fine in the open world and in fact it's an optimal team for that tiger/lion boss in Chenyu Vale. 2) Childe International basically nullifies any shield you'll come across, plus it has Kazuha, so it's great for exploration. 3) Venti and Mona are excellent for exploration - for verticality and for running on water. I'm not saying you should pull for those teams: Mona, Tartaglia, Venti, Ayaka, Ganyu... are no longer considered META by the community. So, if you care about META, save your money/pulls for META units. But if all you do is explore the open world, every character in this video is fine for open world. Genshin really is a tale of two cities: the open world and the Abyss/Imaginarium Theatre. What is is good in one is not always good in the other.
beidou is still a great option for shielded enemies. She wrecks the lecters or abyss heralds since they almost always come in groups of 2 or 3. Her and xinqiu together can wreck chamber 1 side 2 of this abyss. Which a lot of people are struggling with if they lack hydro.
He got a resurgence with Xianyun. Also, like Flip said, Xiangling has always been better than him, we just didn't know that yet because we were stoopid.
Not sure Kokomi mono hydro is a good example of a team where Kokomi is “wanted more” when the team itself is, by your own admission, kind of mid. Like you legit glaze DH Furina cores for other units and said your own kok mono hydro was as mid as taser.
This is dumb list, Nilou is exclusive character (like Shenhe) meant for saving resources for AOE clear, Mona is standard so not really fair especially with her bust weird mechanics, Beidou is 4* compared to everyone else, and I would argue Ganyu is still fun as bust support with Nobless stringless build honestly we need more diverse cryo like her.

i think a way they can buff freeze but its not perfect but just yapping. when in the combate scenario u can trigger freeze but cant cause its a boss or unfreezable. ur team attacks will apply a debuff. this debuff reduces the enemy freeze res and its based on the characters in the team em. cryo characters have a 100% em conversion to the effectiveness of the debuff. 65% for hydro and 40% for anemo. so excess em in ur stats or from ur kazuha can help with enable freeze. ik its a bad idea

To me, Mona's replacement was never kokomi, but Furina. Speaking as someone who has been playing morgana team up till this date, and yes, i don't have kokomi because i don't need her at all (no to crit-less fish). I finally replaced my C5 mona with furina after getting her to C3.
i am biased bc i use beidou pretty regularly after not building her for a long time so i really like using her for taser and some dendro teams (and honestly A+ for not mentioning the beidou doesn't work with raiden thing because that's SO tired and I'M tired of hearing it) but like ganyu? she was cooked for me way before i ever got her lmfao. literally i would pick ayaka and wriothesley over her any day in terms of cryo dps, even if freeze has fallen off as a reaction. mona tho..... i'm begging them to do something to make her good again. like please. i don't wanna cope with weird builds just to use her 😭😭😭
I've pretty much always been onboard the "subdps" leaning variants of Nilou Bloom. You say she's dragging them down because her teams don't contribute to their damage compared to their actual best setups. I'm thinking the opposite. Nilou Bloom has so little to optimize that you might as well jack up your subdps damage sources. You even pointed out that in standard hyperbloom teams, the reaction itself does only half the damage. That means the other half is coming from Yelan/XQ (who aren't getting their damage boosted) and Nahida who solely benefits from catalyze. If pumping up your subdps' damage in hyperbloom isn't considered "cheating" I don't see why doing the same with Nilou Bloom should be. And I don't even think Furina and Nahida are being shoehorned into Nilou Bloom teams in the way that some other subdpses are forced into non-synergistic shitter teams to shore up their pitiful damage. Nilou Bloom genuinely appreciates the AoE hydro application and the fact that she also happens to do extra damage not tied to bloom is the cherry on top.
the DMC one kinda hurts bc I like using him, but yeah I always have to use Noelle in 4th slot when playing Yae/Raiden/DMC...I might just have to replace him with Kirara idk...what would you think about a team like that?
If you are going for an aggravate set up something like Yae (driver) Kirara Fischl (can be subbed for Raiden and use her as an on fielder if you really want to) Sucrose/Kazuha Will serve you better

Lol Nilou did not fall off they just changed how to position the enemies inside the abyss, this really matters for her because her blooms is hte source of damage and there is no room for grouper since we don't have that for dendro or hydro, however that is surely going to come . Couple of reasons why Hoyo would not want to outdate that team, it's basically only scales out of HP which is a beginner friendly stat to go for.

To me Venti got actually better with Theatre; i dont pull, level up and build many characters so i end up playing under-leveled scuffed comps and his grouping helps a lot for the non-boss rooms. Especially this rotation that has cryo and freeze as main focus 💀

Those characters didn't get worse over time, they just stayed the same, and most people couldn't be bothered to play them when there's a newer and more exciting option.
This exact thing even has an established name - it's called a shiny new toy syndrome, although in my opinion it's mostly just laziness and poor resource management.

I’d rather commit to upgrading their artifacts to catch up to the newer better carries than outright replace them and never get any value from all the resources that went into building them.

As C2R1 Ayaka main yeah. She defiantly needs lots of investments. You need to really committed for her. Right now I'm thinking C4 and Shenhe C1. Nevertheless she's my waifu and I don't have regrets investing in her. But if you are f2p and considering her for abyss as C0 with f2p investment I'll not recommend her unless you are committed investing her like getting Shenhe, Mistsplitter, Constellations as such.
c0 R0 Ayaka haver here, Shenhe c2 and Kazuha c2 are a much better investment.
@@shironasama0445 Shenhe C2 is okay but not that deal breaking since Ayaka isn't like Ganyu as Ayaka can work with 12s burst time window and 15% crit dmg is meh. And as per Kazuha C2 it's good too unless if you have xiphoes then his C2 is useless as since you over capping on EM at that point. Also EM doesn't do shit in freeze teams. For other rection teams like Childe international Kazuha C2 is sick but on freeze teams not so much. That's why I gone for Ayaka C2 cause it gives her burst bigger AoE and some bosses with big hit boxes like ASIMON it's very useful. And since I'm going for Ayaka C4 in future C2 was the stopping point when she rerun in 4.3.
I have a C1 Ayaka and a R1 Mistsplitter, I do prefer Amenoma on her instead with 2 piece BS and 2 piece +18% ATK for a melt/flex build that can be slotted into a freeze team.
Currently I either run C2 Kazuha C6 Xiangling/C5 Mona C1 Ayaka C6 Bennett or C2 Kazuha C2 Furina C1 Ayaka C6 Charlotte.
The 1st 2 teams work greatly against bosses, the last team is just easier freeze than fumbling around with C0 Kokomi and her jellyfish, and yes, I have a C0 Shenhe as well.

Her other alternative will be mono cryo where Shenhe will really shines there. Also in mono cryo BS artifact is still viable option on that team on bosses unless if the boss is elemental being. And also some people use bennet to buff Ayaka making her as hyper-carry that's an option too. Also why aren't you playing on amenoma? Do you face ER issue when you put mistsplitter?
P.S: If you interested playing melt go for Wriothesley. He's consistent on melt teams then Ayaka imo.
Even back when freeze was good, she was hardly good without premium team mates. I got her during her eternal banner when I didn't have any of her premium teammates. When I got Kazuha in 2.8, dendro came and I never went back to build her.

I strongly disagree with Nilou being grouped with every other character here, like all units even childe have had massive fall offs from meta while Nilou due to abysses getting more AoE focus has only gained popularity. She is still one of the best AoE teams in the game only consistently losing to Neuvillete but like if the reason she fell off is she is worse than Neuv then every character fell off because nobody is good as him.
In my own account both my Nilou teams and Neuvillete teams cleared this side 2 Abyss with a difference of 3 seconds so I wouldn't say Nilou fell off (Also both teams are somewhat equally invested but I do think the Nilou team edges out a little bit due to the dragon sovereign being stuck on a R5 prototype amber).
She’s at the bottom of the list for a reason just that compared to the uncontested aoe powerhouse she used be quite a few characters are able to perfectly similarly/better while being more accessible. Still great but no longer broken.

if there is an onfielder that wants a frontloaded dmg% buff over a short dps window (essentially having your dps window being a nuke showcase), mona would synergise better with them than furina. furina has a ramping dmg buff, she doesn't synergise well with frontload.

to be honest i just gave my mona r5 prototype amber and a saturated er noblesse set. she’s basically a burst spam healer on most of my teams and i use her all the time since her buffs are pretty nice, her healing is consistent, she has no energy issues, she takes up very little field time, her hydro app is usually synergistic, and you aren’t tied to circle impact, hence she’s surprisingly pretty comfortable to use, especially in freeze or vape. im not trying to defend her btw, she’s a really washed up unit by default. but you still have the option to recycle some of her weak points and give her an alternative role that she actually does preform well on. its kinda sad you have to literally manufacture half of her kit for it, but it works.
Surviving against unfreezable bosses with only prototype amber is a nightmare but against mobs, it was similar to kokomi variant.

eh not really. maybe id struggle with lower refinements but tbh i literally fight azhdaha or raiden shogun using only pa mona as my defensive option and proceed with even a higher survivability sometimes because the prototype amber passive heals even the off field party members without needing to swap, and it heals in ticks. though in all fairness, almost every team i use has a very quick swap based playstyle + ive been using mona for a while and got used to team rotations that include her.
and as for freeze, half of the mobs are unfreezable at this point so i treat my freeze team as more of a mono cryo team with kazuha, where the option to freeze the enemy is a nice bonus. mona in the team still provides decent buffs and her being hydro doesnt interfere with your cryo application, so you dont have many reasons ro replace her apart from maybe needing a cryo battery or a more defensive alternative like kokomi.

Tbh those other teams just felt scuffed fast app is nice but it's only for a limited duration. Burgeon childe with Kazuha and Bennett is a pretty solid team though.
i mean it's probably why she's only number 8. but it really doesn't feel like nilou fell off. just that she like, stayed in the same spot. still one of my favourite teams to run. i actually like that she has limited teammates because it makes the builds more interesting imo.

Na, Mona's still way better than bad on field carries like Yoimiya. You can create a Mona comp that's not even that bad, she's still buffing and generally making whatever carry you're running stronger. She's also still way better than whatever the hell Sigewine is trying to do. Mona is a competent buffer. She's rarely the best character to slot onto a team, but she's at least an option on a lot of teams. Qiqi on the other hand is a meme even on her best suited Furina teams as she tends to struggle to get the energy to even ult unless you're running multiple cryo units. She also got powercrept hard by Charlotte who's just Qiqi without all the weird caveats.
Also there may be a character with a single huge nuke who can't really fit Furina into most of her teams, likes hydro resonance and doesn't like hydro application coming next patch. Mona is getting a teammate who at least makes sense with her and she should probably be a consideration on Mualani teams in general.
Venti may be no longer the cheat code he once was but he stil good with wanderer and he's also great in the theater so he didn't fall off that hard. No, I'm not coping.
He definitely fell off hard, but that's mostly because of how meta he was considered before, not because he is such a terrible unit now. But his usecases have dramatically lowered and become way more niche. If someone wants to pull him they have to be aware that he will only be used in certain situations and doesn't necessarily have the same wide synergy with all teams Kazuha does. Though I think it kinda goes both ways because the casual populous now acts as if Venti is literally unusable in Abyss, which really isn't true either

I think the issue with critiquing Nilou like this is you open gaps for other teams that just aren’t “Neuv level of good”.
When using Nilou with talent damage comps she retains the power level of “pretty heckin good but not as good as *insert* top tier here”, so by your logic, hu tao alhaithem clorinde navia xiao wanderer etc etc fell off cause their not arle or Neuv. (And they all use Furina lol)

As a player who started Genshin right before Fontaine it's wild how much the game has changed. I was looking forward to picking up so many of the characters on this list in my first year- so many content creators still putting out glowing reviews on rerun banners. Sumeru/Hyperbloom powercrept so many old teams and then Furina and the Hypercarries in Fontaine left the classics in the dust.
Kazuha and Yelan (and eventually Zhongli) are the only characters pre-Nahida I've ended up pulling into my roster. Guess I'm even more excited to move into Natalan with a stockpile of Primos assuming the trend continues.
beidou EC taser is still the best team in the game relative to the amount of investment needed imo. EC maintaining both hydro and electro aura makes sucrose 700+ em swirls do double the damage and the team synergy is one of if not the best in the game.
i think she’s one of the best 4 stars, easily in the xingqiu/bennett tier and has potential to do massive damage if played right so idk how she has “fallen” off when she’s still good and every account has access to her.

Ayaka doesn’t suck only freeze and that’s what ayaka is locked into. Technically ganyu should be better because she can do melt with no icd on her CA (where the majority of her dmg comes from) and as already said burn has made her great. Emilie might actually make her niche in wrio/ganyu melt teams.

As someone who attempts to clear almost every abyss at least once with my girl Ganyu i can say though for when you can use freeze furina and charlotte did help her alot in my experience making her freeze teams much more comfortable and enjoyable to play compared to mona variants when i just played melt due to how cringe freeze was with her sometimes back in the day

Melt/Flex Ayaka is still a thing, but you have to know the patterns.

I would add nothing for Abyss teams, but for open world/exploration I would add this: the open world is generally pretty forgiving and you can pretty much play who you like. What makes a character desirable in the Abyss v. open world is very different. So...
1) Teams like Freeze - especially with a grouper like Kazuha - are perfectly fine in the open world and in fact it's an optimal team for that tiger/lion boss in Chenyu Vale.
2) Childe International basically nullifies any shield you'll come across, plus it has Kazuha, so it's great for exploration.
3) Venti and Mona are excellent for exploration - for verticality and for running on water.
I'm not saying you should pull for those teams: Mona, Tartaglia, Venti, Ayaka, Ganyu... are no longer considered META by the community. So, if you care about META, save your money/pulls for META units. But if all you do is explore the open world, every character in this video is fine for open world. Genshin really is a tale of two cities: the open world and the Abyss/Imaginarium Theatre. What is is good in one is not always good in the other.

All I have to say for Childe is, wait for Schneznaya since they might add some kind of mechanic like Fontaine and the upcoming Natlan.

I'd use Beidou a lot more if we had a fifth teammate slot, but she just rarely feels good enough to get one of the slots with only four characters.
This is dumb list, Nilou is exclusive character (like Shenhe) meant for saving resources for AOE clear, Mona is standard so not really fair especially with her bust weird mechanics, Beidou is 4* compared to everyone else, and I would argue Ganyu is still fun as bust support with Nobless stringless build honestly we need more diverse cryo like her.
I mean like idc about meta i just build characters i think are cool like my DPS Thoma and Faruzan

Ayaka and ganyu basically died completely when wriothesley released and was able to be runned in both freeze and melt
i think a way they can buff freeze but its not perfect but just yapping. when in the combate scenario u can trigger freeze but cant cause its a boss or unfreezable. ur team attacks will apply a debuff. this debuff reduces the enemy freeze res and its based on the characters in the team em. cryo characters have a 100% em conversion to the effectiveness of the debuff. 65% for hydro and 40% for anemo. so excess em in ur stats or from ur kazuha can help with enable freeze. ik its a bad idea

Dude, Nilou/DMC/Collei/Barbara still clears abyss easily. After 1.5 years. And it's the cheapest team any 5* limited can get in existance.
@Dubstep_Gun I’m aware of Collei being used for frontloaded app especially with sac bow but I meant in a more general sense as Collei was the most trashed on unit in 3.0.

To me, Mona's replacement was never kokomi, but Furina. Speaking as someone who has been playing morgana team up till this date, and yes, i don't have kokomi because i don't need her at all (no to crit-less fish). I finally replaced my C5 mona with furina after getting her to C3.
i am biased bc i use beidou pretty regularly after not building her for a long time so i really like using her for taser and some dendro teams (and honestly A+ for not mentioning the beidou doesn't work with raiden thing because that's SO tired and I'M tired of hearing it) but like ganyu? she was cooked for me way before i ever got her lmfao. literally i would pick ayaka and wriothesley over her any day in terms of cryo dps, even if freeze has fallen off as a reaction.
mona tho..... i'm begging them to do something to make her good again. like please. i don't wanna cope with weird builds just to use her 😭😭😭
I've pretty much always been onboard the "subdps" leaning variants of Nilou Bloom. You say she's dragging them down because her teams don't contribute to their damage compared to their actual best setups. I'm thinking the opposite. Nilou Bloom has so little to optimize that you might as well jack up your subdps damage sources. You even pointed out that in standard hyperbloom teams, the reaction itself does only half the damage. That means the other half is coming from Yelan/XQ (who aren't getting their damage boosted) and Nahida who solely benefits from catalyze. If pumping up your subdps' damage in hyperbloom isn't considered "cheating" I don't see why doing the same with Nilou Bloom should be. And I don't even think Furina and Nahida are being shoehorned into Nilou Bloom teams in the way that some other subdpses are forced into non-synergistic shitter teams to shore up their pitiful damage. Nilou Bloom genuinely appreciates the AoE hydro application and the fact that she also happens to do extra damage not tied to bloom is the cherry on top.
the DMC one kinda hurts bc I like using him, but yeah I always have to use Noelle in 4th slot when playing Yae/Raiden/DMC...I might just have to replace him with Kirara idk...what would you think about a team like that?

Yae (driver)
Kirara
Fischl (can be subbed for Raiden and use her as an on fielder if you really want to)
Sucrose/Kazuha Will serve you better
