Matt, the problem is that's a third straight ugly win and off night. This isn't any different than how they played against Butler and Georgetown. They start slow, the shot selection hasn't been good. They settle for way too many 3 pointers. They're actually very stagnant on offense. Tristen Newton is not who we thought he was going to be. Andre Jacskon got a T for a second straight game when he should just concentrate on the game. Sanogo just didn't have it against a bigger more physical guy and the team as a whole made a lot of mistakes! Coach Hurley has to clean up a lot what they're doing wrong because they aren't executing as much on both ends. This sloppy and choppy play is going to catch up with them. They've been exposed of their weaknesses. Now is the time where they should be clicking and they aren't. Since the roster is very versatile, Coach needs to insert a starting line up of two way players because yes they need the defense but they also need to score because these slow starts aren't helping. The turnovers, points off turn overs, free throws and rebounding is how they've been winning in lieu of the poor shooting lately but they have to fix this kind of play.
@MrHighPerformance nitpicking lol.. nobody plays a perfect game... 14-0... can win even when they aren't shooting good... solely because of defense and causing turnovers which creates points... defense wins championships...
@Zach Whitfield not nitpicking at all. If you truly understand basketball then you would thoroughly you can't keep playing this way like they have the past three games and think you're the number one team! It's real simple, if you understand the game, they got exposed. Apparently you don't get it because you may feel like a win is a win. Let me give you some wisdom sir, how you win and how you lose tells the story. Think about it. Trust me if they don't lose a game soon and they have 4 more challenges before the schedule gets a little easier for them, they will definitely get have trouble in the Big East Tournament as well as the NCAA tournament. I see you reaching and basically repeated what I said about the turnovers and defense. I never denied that. So your point really isn't valid unless you like calling people nitpickers. Try again Zach, that's a fail 👎🏻
It won’t always be pretty. Yes, some guys need to get better and find their confidence but sometimes you have to win ugly and get it out the mud and UConn did just that. On to the next one!!!
African Moments Definition: "An African soccer player turned basketball player in adolescent years but makes playground mistakes in college basketball." Examples: Hasheem Thabeet Ater Majok Ajou Deng
Every team has vulnerabilities. This is THE big East match up. Every team that plays UConn has something to gain, and they will bring there best, Villanova is better than there ranking. Now that Whitemore is back, Villanova won there last 5. Which those 5 games? Started when he got back.
African moments explained: Just watch Thabeet in 2009. Total bust in the NBA. Soccer player turned BBall player. Didn't grow up playing the game as Americans play basketball from jump. It's the difference between a Demarcus Cousins and Ater Majok. How good was Ajou Deng in 2000? Total bust. I rest my case.
UConn did not play like the #2 team in the nation today. This game was embarrassing to watch in the 1st half. Reminded me of their dismal AAC play. Let's forget those days. To let an inferior team like Nova take the lead was disappointing. I saw Sanogo have African moments like Thabeet, and it wasn't pretty. With all those steps he could travel back to Mali. He's so much better than that. UConn's shooting was atrocious. Every time UConn missed you could see Nova gain confidence they did not earn - that's what happens when you don't execute in game time, you let the opposing team believe. In sports, you always want to erase the other teams belief, and stomp on their neck. It happens with quality stops, shots and makes. I didn't like UConn today. It put a bad taste in my mouth. It was nice to see Diarra play with energy. He was a spark off the bench. Get him more minutes. In Diarra, we got an NY kid playing his heart out when Newt Dogg played some of the most uninspired basketball I've seen in a while. The Hawk had some clutch 3's, Jackson made some 3's, and so did Karaban, but it wasn't a great game to watch. This is what happens when you don't make shots early against Nova, they make you pay down the stretch, and you play into their one possession style of play from Wright's old teams. I'll make a bet with anyone Nova will be a dangerous out come March Madness. UConn needs to no longer brag about that #2 ranking, and just work on their execution, and make basketball plays like they did early in the season. They should have won this game by 25 points if they had executed in the 1st half. Tired of the slow starts. On a positive note, UConn did not stop Nova's 5 game winning streak.
I don’t think this is a very good analysis. Sanogo was neutralized, Dixon played fantastic to do so! It’s true that not everything was perfect, but this is a big rivalry game,, it was always going to be a slugfest. After a cold start, they looked much, much better later on,, I certainly wasn’t “embarrassed” to be trailing with 18 minutes to go. Thats why the game is 40 minutes long.
What an embarrassing take on this game. You're probably a 12yr old trying to sound grown up. If you didnt think this was going to be a dog fight against what has been the premier program in the conference. Then you know nothing about the game. These matchups are preparing this team for March. This Uconn team is not use to being the hunted, all that matters is that they find a way to a win.
Finding ways to wins games when you aren’t playing your best is a sign of good team. Villanova was 5-0 when playing with their star freshman Cam whitmore before today and a better team than their record. Be happy when UConn wins. No one is perfect every night.
hot balls burrito roll was the highlight of that night
Great game
Being able to win on an off night is a great sign, this team has so many options

I doubt it will be as easy on the road in the Big East though.

@@rovingwarrior3710 it's not supposed to be easy

When was the last time the mens team had a better record then the girls?😂 #bleedblue
well since comp lvl is much much higher id prob say never till now.
Lets go Huskies!
Love it!
Too many injuries on the Uconn women's basketball team that seem to be chronic. Besides the men's game is dynamic, no contest.
These highlights suck you literally showed one team highlights the entire time as it the game wasn’t close
I told you Uconn had vulnerability bros.

And they still won comfortably with their best player scoring 7 points.. so many options.. so much depth
Great win and the girls finished the night in ohama

Doesn't matter! Thabeet wasn't a bust for UCONN.

Lmao did you miss the terrible foul call on Sanogo and the technical on Jackson?

Sold out XL Center and they won, a win is a win. There's nothing else to say.. Good night 😴

These are college kids balancing school, their personal life etc; what did you do at their age??
STFU!!!
