    Having owned a 1965 SAAB 96 (and a early production 1967 with 3 carburetors) I felt every turn in this video. Anyone that was never behind a two cycle powered SAAB is missing something. Fun is putting it mildly. In the winter it really gets amped up

    The recovery after a poor start was amazing. You hit all the turns just right and used the engine and brakes at optimum points on the track.
    I have recently completed (never really completely done) a 1960 Saab 93F for Vintage Racing in the U. S. It made its debut last September at the Put-In-Bay Road Races in Ohio. Fought off a few gremlins, and it really needs a good tune up, but it is very fun to drive. Look up Fart-hinder Racing.

    Had a '60 93F as a senior at University of Florida. Thirty-seven horse, three speed with a GT exhaust. Great fun. On the drive home to Orlando, "raced" a Renault Dauphine for miles...door handle to door handle, both of us laughing our heads off, until with a toot and a wave he had to back off for his exit. One of my best UF memories! Wish I still had my little corn popper!

    *This is the best car video I've ever seen!!! - I started out in a '67 '96'' two-stroke Sport at the age of 14, on twisting and turning country gravel roads in Norway, talk about evoking sweet adrenaline filled memories!!! - I've driven a lot of different cars over the years (the latest 'roadrunner' I had was a Celica GTFour Turbo, but let me tell you, **_nothing_** gave the same feeling of **_driving_** as the Saab under full throttle!!!*
    *(Imagine if this pearl of a video was complemented with drone footage of those laps!!!) This i s a pure classic . . . .* ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💓

    Great recovery. Looked like air in the brake system or badly adjusted rear brake because I can understand the brake taps before the real braking coming up to a corner otherwise. That old Datsun was the only car in the class that put up a fight but it's difficult to beat the SAAB's high rpm.

    • @Shadaole
      @Shadaole 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Pede711 Old car brake systems tend to lose pressure after a while, so you need to pump up the pressure before the desired braking point. Without pumping the brakes it will act as if without brake fluid just like the brakes have failed. I have 70's Suzuki ST20 back then and pumping the brakes before braking point just become my second nature.

    • @Pede711
      @Pede711 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Shadaole Thank you. I thought it had to be something like that, but I havent ever had to build up pressure on any of my classic cars (90 Peugeot 309 Rallycar and 69 Firebird "Sunshine"-car) so I wondered if it was a SAAB 2-stroke thing with that freewheeling-thingny they have in the transmission :-)

    • @Shadaole
      @Shadaole 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Pede711Wow, what a nice car you have. I don't really understand whether this could be because the braking system is not as good as other cars. But from my experience with some old Japanese cars (my Suzuki st20 and Daihatsu Hijet), it often has the same symptoms. Unlike old German cars which have reliable braking system. It is also possible that there is a very micro leak in the brake line. I think in the future I need to redone all my brake line to find out if its make a difference. Cheers mate

    • @RobertJeffersonBased
      @RobertJeffersonBased 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Shadaole Giving the car slight braking when entering the corner or cornering is a good way to plant the front tires and to get the rear end to "rotate" in my experience.

    I can't believe what I'm seeing here that car is nowhere near it's limit and you are lifting your foot off the throttle for heavens sake.. keep that thrittle hard to the floor, if you want to lose speed, scrub it off or nose, that's what your left foot is for..that baby will out corner all that junk in front of you. Trouble is, your nerve is failing before the old 2T. It's a hell of a car ( I've one) but don't back off... it's ridiculous. check out how the swedes drive them....they dont know what a brake is. You have one of the best handling cars..
