Fun fact; I have 653 hours in this game at this very moment, and I have never been in the cockpit of a cobra as far as I can remember at least. Not sure but pretty confidant the tutorial was in a sidewinder ever since they added it. I am actually considering picking up a Mk5 though, I like the look of it and small ships are fun to putter around in.
I really like the forward placement of the cockpit on the Mk5. Not only does it offer a great view, but no doubt it also frees up a lot of space in the back - making the size 5 slot possible.
I'd love to see some large ships introduced that are SCO-native. Besides ships, I'd really like to see some non-PP 2.0 weapons and modules introduced to the game. How about an anti-interdiction module? Thargoid-based power plants / hull reinforcement / weapons (like the Guardian ones)?
@RicardosGaming one of the next natural ones the Adder, Hauler, Viper, Eagle, Type-6 (maybe Type-7 since it was basically obsoleted by the Type-8) and Type-9 would fit too and the Federal and Imperial ships too, especially from a lore/political pov
looking at the Mk5 images, it looks like the 2 class 1 mounts are either side of the cockpit on top, 2 of the class 2 mounts are either side of the cockpit on the underside and the 3rd class 2 is top center near the rear of the ship.
Got my Mercenary Mk 3 back in the dark ages when bubble was much smaller, still own and sometimes using it just for a change of scenery. Have Mk 4 fully engineered and parked at my secondary location as a spare mission runner. Going to add Mk 5 to the fleet next weekend and going to use it as an alternative to my Courier when more cargo capacity needed for the mission and strong shield is not required.
7500+ hrs, last exploration ship for Bio scanning I used for a whole year was Cobra MkIII, great little runner for the mountains. I will put it into storage and kit out the MkV for some exploration. o7
Regarding you comment about the Cobra from the original 1984 Elite. The Mk3 was the original ship from the game with the Mk1 appearing as an antagonist in some versions of the game. (The Mk2 never entered production as per the Elite game manual) I have played multiple versions of the original game back in the day, (Acorn Electron, Commodore 64, Amiga) plus OOlite along with Frontier, First Encounters and Elite Dangerous, so you could say that I'm sort of a veteran. (Not to mention getting on a bit 😁).
I do favor the medium to small ships but It would be nice to see a large ship, especially if it had Three small landing pads so you and your crew could use it for the ultimate combat frigate. Having three fully engineered small ships like vipers, eagles and the Cobra would make a formidable team, not to mention it would be fun as hell
I had a cobra mk3 when i didnt know about enhanced 3a thrusters on an imperial courier that boost to 881ms. Now i dont have any cobra's. Got that titan skin, but it fills up ship slots that i would only scroll over, never use.
I really like the look of the Cobra MK5. It has enough slots to be better that it's siblings because it has more compartments. this ship will carry as much as the keelback and if you used all of your space for cargo almost as much as the Type 6. So it will be a trader and can be a tank for combat. I'm going to make a bus and fly around the bubble.I'll spend my cash on the MK5 because I enjoy the game and most of the time I spend more for lunch.
Buying it (for me) is gonna depend on its flight characteristics. If it is more in line with the mk4 (slow, even when engineered) then it'll be a hard no thank you I stick with the mk3
The Cobra Mk3 iconic look is unmatched. Still looking forward to this new model, hoping it will find a good use in my fleet. And hopefully many others cmdrs aswell, it would be a nice change, instead of seeing just the same ships all the time. On a side note, the multicrew seats are the most useless thing in ED, nobody wants to actually use it, there's no point. I always hope that hey will change it eventually, it can be done (I don't want to name any other game, but somebody has done it properly).
Not necessarily I still have my old Cobra Mk.4 and plan on wiping my save to give the Mk.5 a proper shakedown run cause this thing is clearly geared for new players which I assume it will excel at.
Since I will buy it just to complete the collection and because aesthetically it is quite good, the purchase will be with credits, just like I did with the Phytom MkII and the Type-8, so while I wait for it to be available, the same with the Mandalay, I will continue using those old and rusty ships that I already have.😎
@RicardosGaming internals are insane , if i'm not mistaken hulltank around 5023 hull ,you can ram a fdl with it. if you want shields with this small ship prisma with 4 boosters around 3,238Mj. And i have to say its with Buurpit , the greatest channel you run , congratz i really enjoy your content
I'll be buying the Mk V next week. I'm out in the deep black looking for plants but I'm still buying one to complete the Cobra set. I use my Cobra Mk IV for Odyssey planetary base missions.
ROFL Now the YT alegoreretheme shows me this vid... if memory serves me right the 2 class 4 slots where military compartments... one of the reasons why i sold the ship i was doing cargo only back then. I was giving my Steams keys, installed 2017.. since i sold my Mark 4 i can no longer rebuy it ;-( Looks like... i Sent Frontier a ticket maybe they will be Nice... I find myself wanting it back.
The only reason to buy Mk5 imho is to smuggle stuff to Odyssey settlements that have only small landing pad - since it seems it will have the biggest cargo hold of all small ships. Otherwise - pretty useless like most of the small ships (with the execption of DbX and Imp. Courier - as exploration and taxi ships respectively).

"Nobody flies around in the Cobra Mk4" - I'm literally in a Cobra Mk4 right now.
Iused mine last week - bit like a 1970s MORGAN
I want to use a cobra mk4 but I didn’t pre order the game so that is why I don’t use it 😅
@@zat-1-fury yeah only a few people have it
Yesterday at the nearest in sol I checked the traffic records and there were 17 people who flew a cobra 4.Dang

large ships would be unstoppable - probably why they have not been implemented yet
@@RicardosGaming true, but I could see at some point an Anaconda Mk2 happening
after all, from a lore pov, the Anaconda is quite old at this point

Would have liked to see a comparison of manoeuvrabilty in terms of roll/pitch/yaw rates. Could you add in as a comment please Ricardo?

Aren't we all
Are they going to add more ship slots for the Fleet Carriers and Stations/Ports? This will be ship # 41, and there are on 40 ship slots available.
The Mk V also has a cockpit with better visibility for exobiology. You have a wide view almost directly below you with the Mk V.

This will replace my DBX as a material-gathering-machine, since it holds more limpets for high grade emissions.
New walk the plank ship i guess
there should be a mission that is mandatory to small ship only.
there may well be in the future - some delivery missions require smaller pads but nothing other than that
