Splendid.... Priceless video of WCG2. really miss those Howlers. It would have been better on the part of IR to repaint some of the WAG7 Bankers in WCG2 liveries. a little attempt could have been done to restore the memories of the Old & Faithful Locos.
Miss those days of WCG-2 howlers... i think now WCAM series will also be removed in some years.. that would be very sad thing.. on that purpose i am shooting WCAM-2P and WCAM-3 videos as much as possible to make memories and to preserve them 😊
Thats why I was wondering that I couldn't see any of these what I call "Classic" locos at Pune. Last month went to the station. Indrayani Express was hauled to Pune via a diesel loco rather than an electric as one would expect.

Like the T-800 said in Terminator Genesys, I can hear these locos literally howl "Old, but not obsolete". Unfortunately IR wasn't listening.
I think that now the ghat section (rather the entire section from Pune to Badlapur) has been in AC traction since April 30, 2010. But I am not sure about it. I wonder, what loco they must be using for banking operations now? Since there is a shortage of WCAMxs and WCGs cannot ply any more, the obvious choice is WDM2s/3s....
I noticed a cream-blue EMU in the video. Are the new EMUs on the PN-LNL section still being sourced from mumbai or from somewhere else?? I remember that the old DC EMUs were originally from the Mumbai suburban section but dedicated for service on PN-LNL.
so what happens to all the DC Locos. Are they being used somewhere else or have they been removed, scrapped?? These locos are still in very good condition from the video...
I dont agree, WCAM's have been around for a while, they are dual traction locos, been in Pune for years now, while yes AC traction did come in, your statement about the first AC traction did not quite hold true, great video though, enjoyed it! Cheers

These locos are still in very good condition from the video...
They are all phased out, Indian railways has AC traction every where now.
Some of them are converted into pure AC. And can be easily seen in Pune - Mumbai section.
