And she picked a wrong enemy and got destroyed by Senchou
@@TheZackNova I wouldn't say destroyed. Marine puts together really nice combos. But Sui-chan adapted and started to send smaller junk earlier each round to try and disrupt Marine's combo building. I didn't count and I think Marine won more often than Sui-chan, but Suisei won a few of the games as well. She certainly wasn't "destroyed". They appeared to both really enjoy playing each other.
Edit: just went back and counted. Out of 12 games, Marine won 8 so fairly competitive but Marine was definitely the better player.

Senchou is definitely better at Puyo than Suichan.
Senchou is in that weird level of all PuyoPuyo players go through at some point in their journey. They know how to build chains, they have solid basics, they know how to continue mid-match but they don't look at what their opponents do yet so they are more vulnerable to blitz 2-rensa (known as Hellfire) so they can lose to weaker opponents from time to time (and when they don't get the proper color to start their chain).

Well, unlike against Pekora, Suichan plays a different style against Senchou who is better at poyo and tries to disrupt Senchou's combo.
I'm loving these Comet appearances more and more. Every time she shows up I think about the marshmallows 🤣
Don't be fooled by the clip. The fight was close but Marine definitely showed up as the stronger player for last night's stream for Puyo Puyo.
I mean, even this clip shows her winning more than Suisei.
That chain she pulled off was sick. I've never pulled off more than a three or four chain and those are rare and usually accidents.
Just for information (as someone who is playing Puyo for a while now): Senchou is much stronger than Suichan at PuyoPuyo (I dont include Tetris where Suichan is unbeatable among holomen).
She has solid foundations regarding how to build long chains (she even did a 10-rensa towards the end), she knows how to make transitions and build on the second floor, she knows how to continue building mid-match after the initial combo. The only times Senchou lost was when Suichan was harassing with short chains even though they kind of agreed to not do this (but well you don't give orders to Suichan www).
What's missing to Senchou to become stronger are: using a pattern stronger than kaidan/stairs which is extremely vulnerable to harassment during the transition phase to the second floor. And actually looking at the opponents screen to evaluate how likely they are going to attack and judge the firepower they have.
In Tetris you can play alone by focusing on your screen, you just need to go fast and damages come from below so don't affect you that much.
In Puyo, the damage come from the top and can screw your play, you NEED to look at what the opponent is doing at higher levels. A lot of intermediate players are stuck in a weird area where they can be beat by weaker players as they take more risks to build longer chain but don't have the reflexes to anticipate when these harassment are likely to come.
I wonder how Marine and Suisei would do in a Puyo vs. Tetris matchup!
At higher levels of play, Puyo is usually at a slight disadvantage, but at lower levels, it's the other way round. Also, margin time tends to be better for Puyo.
It's difficult for the Puyo player if the Tetris player can send significant pressure, because all the Puyo garbage comes from above and it can really mess up your chain building >_
@@ahiijny with their current level Suichan would definitely win. The chains Marine build are extremely sensitive to the type of harassment a fast Tetris player like Suichan would send.
When playing against Tetris you indeed need special structures on 2 or 3 columns that will be above the initial tsunami that a typical DT cannon or a Perfect Clear would send.
But to get those consistently is really hard for all non-advanced players. Even intermediate players would struggle a lot with these because you need to optimize your colors a lot.
4-wide can work only if you build it with the hole on the middle so you can tank damages and even use the damage you get to add even more power.
But still i think that at high level, Tetris players tend to avoid this. If you let Puyo build it's basically letting them play on their strength which is not good.
@@ZratP agreed, the probably biggest flaw of the matchup is really garbage, getting garbage as puyo? appears on the top and falls to the board, painful and can easily force chains to be popped just to survive or else get overwhelmed, tetris garbage appears at the bottom meaning that you can easily stack attacks and attacks onto each other, add the sheer speed, t spin freestyling etc and its more likely that the tetris player would win even if both players was skilled in average assuming mostly decent play without major misplays. add openers like dt cannon or pco and it gets real problematic when your stacking puyo and your opponent suddenly sends like pretty much instant kill garbage unless you had a response to it prior which still isn't the greatest becase if you cancel it, you end up with a slight problem of no real attacks until you can chain like 4+ whilst tetris will already have 6-3 stacked or even just 9-0, or you could just c4w and invalidate all problems by just not dying and downstacking infinitely until you have like a 13+ combo with tetris

in her practice matches against Suisei th-cam.com/video/wVeAl2W6WQk/w-d-xo.html, Marine's GTR was vulnerable to attacks from Suisei.
but in the tournament showmatch th-cam.com/video/JOFXeA2h3tY/w-d-xo.html, Marine had a pretty good counter strategy against Suisei by stacking up high vertically.
Suisei had some pretty clutch survival moments!! But (and maybe her controller low battery played a part in it) she couldn't send enough pressure to sufficiently hinder Marine's puyo building

Suisei may have beaten Marine in the Maruyama Game Shop Puyo Puyo challenge, but the latter is still one to not underestimate

Yeah though it's important to note that Marine had a better set up, and she would've won if she didn't fumble it in the middle. But then again, I guess in practice, it's mostly about speed

It was a pretty tight fight but Sui-chan got overwhelmed by Marin after she warmed up a bit haha. The score went 4-1 to 4-3 to 6-3 then finally 8-4, Marin-Sui-chan

Marine is pretty good at this kind of game i doubt that she can beat Suisei at Tetris but if it's Puyo Puyo i can see Marine winning
rather than doubting you can be sure that she will definitely lose to suisei in tetris. No Vtuber ever has a chance against suisei in tetris. There's even that stream where marine just basically got tutored by suisei in tetris.

But if we talk about puyo", some of people who watch maruyama game shop challenge.. they all know how strong marine is, even she's the fastest and strongest there, she said she just like sui, when marine still a kid she always grinding her gameplay to beat all of her friends (puyo" seems so popular on her hometown) and aim become the strongest, well common people maybe think if puyo and tetris is same... but it is not, even i surprised marine can keep up with sui and hv a chance to win, but she actually win againts sui.. yeah we can say these two person is strong.. they hv their own plus point at the game.
