Well I never clicked on a video so fast. I remember seeing the parade numerous times 1996. We had a cassette soundtrack to it, I would hold my ear up to the speaker of the radio as the music was playing. I remember knowing that it was going to come to an end in November, and having no interest in seeing Light Magic. I actually had no idea the parade would come to DCA, until I discovered it in the park. Once I heard the music in the distance, I ran off from my family to finally see it again! When it returned to Disneyland in 2017, I bought tickets to the premier within a minute upon hearing about it. (It was the best $95 I ever spent!) From that point, I would return to the park to see the parade twice a day on a weekly basis for 7 months straight. (Yep I’m that crazy) The energy and emotions of the crowd of the last performance was easily comparable to the final performance in 1996. To this day I never go to the park without thinking about it. There is a special window on Main Street dedicated to the parade with Robert Jani’s name on it. It’s that and Walt’s Apartment I look at during each visit.
Anyway, I appreciate you making a video on this even though it’s not a ride. Really enjoyed this one :)
I had a video of this parade when I was in kindergarten. I watched it to death, when it finally broke, I cried my eyes out for weeks. I finally got to go to Disneyland when I was 12, one of the lights fell off the parade and I have never moved so fast IN MY LIFE to snatch that up. It's still one of my most prized possessions.
During my High School Sophomore Year of Spring Break in 2012, I got to march in the Main Street Electrical Parade at Walt Disney World with my marching band! I didn't get to view, but I got the better experience of performing IN a Disney parade! It was a trip I will NEVER forget!
What's better is when we had to meet up as a whole band to perform, and we got to go Backstage to prepare and watch the parade floats line up! We were one of 3 High School marching bands that night!

I remember when my futur wife brought me to Disneyland Paris for the first time. I fell in love with the place and wanted to live there. She told me about an electrical parade an how it was great. An electrical parade ? I thought what the heck is that ?
When they turned out the light in Main Street and the music started and I saw what was coming in the dark...WOW !

Was there when it first started in Disneyland. I’m now 52 and still feel it’s the happiest place on earth! Have the original music as well as It’s a small world on record!!
I still have a 45 record (do you young'uns know what that is? LOL) of the theme from the Main St. Electrical Parade. After our first trip to Disneyworld in 1982, I would play it incessantly, trying to remember how great the whole trip was.

The Best Parade ever at Disneyland, in my opinion.
Got to see it in disney land in 88 and its the one parade my parents were more excited to see than I was not sure of they had just heard about it or what but we had to have watched it everyday we were there. I still have a banner from the show hanging in my room.

As much as I like MSEP, I think Dreamlights is the best version of the parade. It carries the nostalgia while adding the modern films and is still being updated

This is my all time favorite parade out of all the ones that I have seen at Disneyland. The last time I saw it was when DCA had it when I was 15. I wish I could see it one more time, and watching this video and hearing the music in the commercial made me tear up a bit

Got to see the parade one last time at the Magic Kingdom before it went back to Disneyland. They really should make a duplicate for WDW again. We have no nighttime parade now.

At this time there are no parades happening at Disneyland. They're working on constructing a new section of parade route over by it's a small world.
It was great to see the parade in Disneyland again after so many years! I edited a video last year with footage I shot in 2009, 2017, and footage my dad shot on our trip in 1989.

Matterhorn matt did you get 'Disney has not made any announcements on the parades future' from wikipedia because that line is on there and I edit wikipedia.
Also thats true because Disney has not said if it was retiring or not after it's 2017 run and I'm still waiting for Disney to announce something on it's future even if we have to wait until Destination D for Disney to announce something about MSEP's future.

MSEP was far too beloved and cherished to be gone forever. It will come back eventually.
And in 2019, it ran from August to October.
Hopefully it returns to either WDW soon or returns to DL after pixar fest

I'm confused with your timeline of Walt Disney World's MSEP. I know I have seen it multiple times in the last 12-15 years at Magic Kingdom. I think it left Florida in 2016.
Michelle Clark the Florida copy left in 1991 and went to Paris. Then they sent the California copy to Florida where it ran from 1999-2001. From there, they sent it to DCA from 2001-2010. After that it went to WDW from 2010-2016.

Disney announced it would close in October1966 ? So it closed before it was even concieved !!
Wow, was supposed to end is 66 but was pushed back to November of 96?? Somethings not right there... lol. The parade opened for the first time in 72 so how could it end of 66?
I have the history of this from the Disney Channel on VHS somewhere. LOL If anyone has ever been to WDW, you realize how VAST the property IS. There were NO horizon lights (or neighboring city) The Water Pagent was created to "create" the horizon lights. When the MSEP was created for DL, it boosted the morale of DL cast members because after 1969 Haunted Mansion opening, attention was on the Florida Project.

You messed up for the Disneyland 2017 run. You said August 20, 2016, you mean 17, and it wasn’t around for 47 years, it celebrated its 45th last year

How did you get this form of VHS-like quality for your videos?
I transfer the files to a DVD, record the DVD to a VHS tape using my prized VHS player, then transfer that back to a DVD and then to my computer! Authentic VHS quality!

Love your videos Matt. Nice work. Glowfest. (One word) check out the video on my channel. its interesting because it was done by an outside company to off load the disappointed guest that couldn't get into world of color when it opened. it was so popular TDA got upset and +'d it with Electronica (Search my channel for that too).
