Thank you for this! I just recently got bucked off my pony and then severely bitten by my other youngster that has aggressive issuses. I also got kicked recently, it's been a really bad week lol. I fell very rarely when I was a young rider. Now due to essentially knees arthrose my good balance seems to have nearly disappeared. That worries me a lot. I fell two times from Punchie, she was not guilty.
The instructor fears me to fall now even though I always get up if possible. She prefers only to make me walk but I can trot. At least. 😕
My pleasure was to canter. 😢
Then now... to do posting trot is rather challenging for me. Hopefully I met a new specialist doctor who said I must do horse riding !
But it is hard now despite all the " confidence equipment " to gain confidence and... enough muscles again. Not really sportive. 😭😉
That made me feel so sad last time I was riding a month ago - my favorite mare was a real sweetheart! - that I did not come back on the saddle. (I had lots of worries)
I know I should... I only can do one hour horse lesson a week.
Then, please dear Daniel, what could you advice me ? How to find enough courage?
I still love horses from the bottom of my heart.

For your safety and confidence I would say a good and safe horse is the most important thing! Older horses or very well trained young horses can be perfect for building your confidence!

They train horses, ponies... The thing is that I know now they have not enough time to train horses having some problems. Pity !
I believe Faspasie who is 8 years old, is the most old girl, she was a race horse too. She is more mature. When I ride her I love her gaits with enough big strides. I hope the instructor will give me her to ride. This is not unfortunately my personal choice but I always can ask for.
Punchie is younger, 6 years old. She is said " difficult horse", she can be a little tricky or moody. (Not with me, except fearing pigeon for ex. ) She can decide to run away to meet her very best friend after a good jumping competition ! The poor rider fell.

There are two other thoroughbreds I never ridden. One was a rescued race horse. Maloon. Princess is new, she is absolutely so cute, appreciating to exchange kisses. I 've got photos.🐴💞 😂I do not want to ride smaller horses, due to my knees too short strides are a real problem.😏

In the barn, there are beautiful Selles français but they belong to owners and ponies for children learners.
Oh man,good to hear you didn't get any major injuries. I have had 2 falls, thank God I was safe although my hip still hurts months on. Without falls you get complacent and forget that every ride can carry so many risks...so you cut corners and something worse can happen. So important for me to make a prayer before riding everytime. For me, we take our means (helmet, good tack, check everything etc) and then God is ultimately our Protector.
